One tree says Dora was born about 1860, married Robert H. Upchurch in 1879 in Illinois, and had Wilford Upchurch.
In 1860 Hamilton County Robert H. Upchurch is 2, with F.G. 39, and Anna 44 Upchurch, both born in Tennessee. In 1870 Hamilton County he's 12, with Felix Upchurch, a school teacher, 50. Brothers Joseph 21 and James 18 and Enoch 17 are farmers.
In 1880 Hamilton County Robert and Dora are married, and have Wilford, 1.
Robert enlisted in the army in 1880, and was discharged in Washington, D.C. for disability.
Dora cash-claimed a quarter in 2, 5S 46W in 1893. In 1904 she timber-claimed a quarter in section 11, 5S 46W
Christopher C. Gross proved up a quarter in 2, 5S 46W in 1894.
In 1889 Denver a "Miss Dora Upchurch" was living at 1010 18th.
In 1892 a Mrs. Dora A. Upchurch was a dressmaker in Denver, living at 2238
Washington Avenue.
Dora A. Upchurch married William T. Fair Feb 2, 1892, recorded in Denver County.
Denver was the county seat at that time. William proved up a quarter in
11, 5S 46W in 1896, cash-claimed a quarter in 2 in 1892, and timber-claimed a
quarter in 1 in 1896.
In 1900 Kit Carson County, William T. Fair, born December 1863 and Dora A. October 1860, both Illinois, are farming. She's had two children, one living.
William Fair and Mrs. Dora Fair were witnesses for the 1900 land claim of Miles Van Winkle.

In 1870 Stephenson County, Illinois, William Fair is 6, with Samuel 40 and Mary J. 37 Fair. Siblings are Albert. 16, John F. 14, James H. 12, Frank 9, Delber 5, and Elmer 3. FindAGrave for Elmor says Samuel 1832-1907 and Mary Jane (Hartsough) Fair 1832-1903.
In 1880 Stephenson County Samuel and Mary have J.H. 22, Frank 19, Wm. F 16, D.D. 14, Elmor S. 12 and Harry L. 9.
| Freeport Daily-Journal (Freeport IL)30 Dec 1898 (Friday) Observed an Anniversary Lena Star: Today (Thursday) is the forty-sixth anniversary of Samuel Fair and wife, and the occasion was appropriately celebrated at their residence. They are well known and highly respected citizens and their many friends congratulate them upon this happy occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Fair were born [sic; married] in Indiana county, Pa., in 1852, and came to this county soon after, settling upon the old homestead in Waddams township. To them were born eight children, all boys, three of whom, Albert, Elmer, and Frank, have passed away. The other sons are James, of Hardy, Neb.; William, of Ouray, Col.; Del, of Chicago; Dr. J. F., of Freeport, and Harvey, on the old homestead. Those present at the anniversary were James Hartsough and family, of Nora; W. A. Robey and wife, of Warren; Dr. J. F. Fair and family of Freeport; Mrs. Mary Fair, of Clarno, Wis.; John Pecht, of Hardy, Neb.; Mrs. Bell and son, of Orangeville; Harry Fair and wife, Aunt Eliza Fair and Dr. and Mrs. Kauffman, of this city. Mrs. Fair has been in poor health for about a year, but at present is doing better. We trust the bride and groom of 46 years may be spared for at least the full 50 years of golden wedded life. |
William is in the 1885 Belleville Kansas census, a clerk.
In 1910 Wray William runs a laundry, and Dora a boarding house, with seven boarders.
In 1920 Wray William is a cashier at the Peoples State Bank, and they have two lodgers.
Their land was to be sold at auction in 1922 for non-payment of a loan.
Dora - August 31, 1860 - Feb 21, 1926 is buried in Wray. One FindAGrave record says her name was Dora GROSS Fair.
W.T. Fair married Florilla Colsten June 5, 1927 in Lincoln County, Colorado. She's probably the Flora Colsten, married to James, in Wray in 1900, Vernon in 1910 and 1920. James - 1858-1922 is buried in Glendale, Vernon.
In 1930 Wray William is married to Florilla - she's 62, born in Ohio.
They're in Colorado Springs in 1940, saying they were in Victor, Colorado in 1935.
FindAGrave has a record of William Trimper Fair buried August 10, 1940 in Colorado Springs
Florilla Fair was a party in a credit collection suit in El Paso County in 1942.
She's probably not the Mrs. William T. Fair, president of the Woman's Club of Fontana, California in 1944, because this William was alive in 1946..

In 1900 Idalia precinct a Wilford Upchurch, born Nov 1878 in Illinois, is farming, living alone.
The photograph of him in the Vogel saloon at Idalia is captioned "Wilford Upchurch is considered to be one of the best saddle bronc riders in the territory."
In 1910 Kirk precinct he's married to May, 25, born in Virginia. She's had four children, three living - Edith L. 7, Dora M. 5, and Robert A. 3, all born in Colorado.

In 1920 Wray precinct Wilford is farming, and they have Lolita G. 16, Dora M. 14, Mildred F. 9, Wilford Jr. 7, Virginia L. 5, and Phyllis M. 3.
They've moved to Highland Park, Michigan - Detroit area - in 1930, and Wilford is a laborer at an auto factory. Dora is a Burroughs machine operator, they've added Donald, 6, Robert 3, and Beverley 1 -all three born in Michigan.
They're still in Michigan in 1940.
Theodore Heindel, 25, a salesman born in Colorado to Wm. Heindel and Letha Reynold,
married Dora Upchurch 25, on May 25, 1930 in Lucas County, Ohio.
Wilford is a cook in 1951 Wichita, Kansas, and Wilford and Anna are in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1955 - he's a bus driver.
Wilford D. -Sep 23, 1910 - June 10, 1966 and Anna May (Gibson) Upchurch 1885-1962 are buried in Wray.
