Sarah S.(Dunkin) Southwell

His parents were Charles P. Southwell born 1817 in Cambrideshire, dying September 1875 in St. Louis.
In 1900 Pierce County, Nebraska, Benson is a drayman, born June 1858 in Wisconsin, married 20 years to Sarah born May 1862 in Iowa. Myrtle Sept 1883 in Iowa, Perry August 1867 in South Dakota, Nettie Dec 1889 and Wesley August 1894 both born in Nebraska.
They're in Hitchcock County, Nebraska in 1910. Benson J. is 59, farming, Sarah S. 47, Nettie 20 is teaching school, J. Wesley 15 and T. Glenn 8 are in school.
Joseph died August 16, 1914, and is buried in McCook # 179300452.
Charles P. Southwell proved up a tract in 7, 3S 47W and 12, 3S 48W in 1919, next to Sarah S. Southwell's 1919 claim,
John W. Southwell's 1919 claim of two quarters, and John's stock claim of 80 acres in 1921.
In 1920 Yuma County, Sarah is widowed, 57, Charles P. 32, John W. 27, and Thomas G. 19, farming.
December 1921 "Mrs. Sarah Southwell, of some twenty-five miles southeast of Yuma, went to McCook, Nebraska Thursday for an indefinite stay at the home of her daughter."
In 1930 Yuma County, Sarah is widowed, living alone, but on one side is thomas 28 and Noram 25, with their Walter G. 8, Joseph V. 6, Norman 4, Raymond L. 3, Colleen 2, and Alan newborn.
On the other side is J. Wesley 38, and his wife Elinor 28 born in Kentucky. Perry is 8, John W. 7, Betty 5, and Lorna 3.
1934 "Mrs. Sarah Southwell, who had been at the home of her daughter at McCook for some time, returned to this section Saturday."
In 1940 Yuma County, Sarah is 77, still living alone.
Sarah died in Denver in 1949, buried in McCook # 179300654.

JOHN WESLEY
John W. Southwell married Eleanor M. Cornell on October 6, 1920 in Denver.
Eleanor was in Denver in 1920, with parents Thomas and Elizabeth Cornell.
Thomas 1871-1947 # 48944806 and Elizabeth 1873-1958 # 48944805 are buried in Yuma.
(Bess Cornell Clawson 1901-1993 is buried in Yuma # 7447441 -
with Irl C. 1896-1955 # 74474443. They married May 9, 1920 in Akron.)

March 1964 "Mrs. Bess Clawson announced the engagement of her daughter, Shanley to Jon Kenneth Kiltz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Kiltz of Holyoke. Sharley was a seniror at the Univerity of Colorado School of Nursing, and Jon was a in the school of business.
In 1930 next to Sarah, J. Wesley 38, and his wife Elinor 28 born in Kentucky. Perry is 8, John W. 7, Betty 5, and Lorna 3.

1933 "Mr. and Mrs. Irl Clawson drove to Omaha, Nebraska Sunday to join the J.W. Southwell family at the home of of Mr. and Mrs. John Bell ain order that the entire family might spend Christmas together. Besides the ones mentione above, Mrs. Clawson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Cornell, and her brother, Edgar Cornell and his wife were present. The Southwell family visited Mr. Southwell's sister at McCook, Nebaska a few days befoe going on to Omaha.
1938 "Joe Southwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Southwell of south of Yuma, sustained fractures of both bones in his left leg during football praactic at the high school.
In 1940 John and Elenor are living on South Ash street in Yuma.
John works for the water systerm, Elenor manages a cafe,
Perry is a salesman in a hardware store, John is an office boy, Lorna L. is 7, Arline and Irene both 3.
John 1894-1981 is buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, # 139218391,
with Eleanor M. 1900-1972 # 139218332.
June 15, 1972
May 14, 1981 "Funeral services for John Wesley Southwell, former Yuma resident, were held Monday at wheat Ridge. Those attending from Yuma were Marvina nd Bettie Van Horn, Dale Van Horn, and Lizzie Van Horn. A sister-in-law of John's, Mrs. Bess Clawsen was unable to attend from Boulder due to illness. She is a former Wray resident."
June 27, 1942 "Perry Southwell succeeded Joe Lowe as night clerk at the Hotel Yuma."
February 1944 "Elizabeth Van Horn and Perry Southwell were united in marriage."
"Dale Van Horn worked for Perry Southwell in Wheat Ridge, Colorado in the early 1960's. He worked for Smokey Peticlerec also in Wheat Ridge, Colorado bricklaying and as a construction apprentice."
1962 "Mr. and Mrs. Perry Southwell and family had dinner with her sister and family, the Dwichg Studerviles of Wray on Friday."
In 1986 Perry and Elizabeth Southwell of Wheat Ridge and son Dick, Char,
Christine and Sean Southwell of Arvada, Carey, Ian, and Blayne Southwell of Arvada,
Ellen Southwell and fiance, Larry Sourter of Arvada attended the Van Horn reunion in Loveland.
" Perry Southwell was a railroad yardmaster at Union Station, Denver. Perry and Liz Southwell danced at Leroy Shade's club in Wheatridge, the 'Starshooters.'

In 1918 Glenn Southwell of McCook participated in a Nebraska state debate.
Thomas married Norma Gatten in 1921.
They're farming south of Yuma in 1940, Thomas G. 38, Norma 34, Walter G. 18, Joseph B. 16, Norman G. 14, Raymond E. 13, Collian I. 12, Allen D. 10., Loren L. 9, Norma D. and Dupe Lee both 3.
Thomas, born July 7, 1901, died in Clackamas County, Oregon March 28, 1994.
