Susie was born Dec 24, 1862 in Indiana to John and Charlotte (Dailey) Kelley.
In 1900 Putnam County, Missouri, Allen Baugh born 1863 and Susie 1865, both Missouri, have Charlotte 1883, John 1884, Nora 1887, Ella 1890, Henry Dec 1891, Velma 1896, Delpah 1897, and Elsie, May 1900, all born in Missouri.
In 1920 Wray, Susie is widowed, 58, working in a hotel. Vesta J. 16, also works there.
Susie proved up a quarter in section 17, 3N 43W, joining Selba's, in 1920.

Susie Baugh, born December 24, 1863 in Terre Haute, Indiana, father John Kelly, died in Wray, at 216 E. 5th on July 22, 1953.
is buried in Wray.
| John Baugh died early Saturday, Dec. 8, 1973 when his home was
destroyed by fire. Mr. Baugh spent his early years in Nebraska. On Sept. 5, 1906 he and Miss Edna Stothard were married at St. Francis, Kan., and farmed in Colorado and Wyoming before moving to Washington. In 1942, he and his family moved to their farm near Sunnyside where he farmed and did general trucking for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Viola Ball and Mrs. Iona Gibson; three sons, Elbert, George, and Clifford Baugh; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife Aug. 21, 1964, and two sons. John is buried in Sunnyside, Washington 1885-1973 |

Selby Henry Baugh registered in Wray, saying he was born September 8, 1893 in Unionville, Missouri, and was caring for his mother.
In 1920 Yuma County, Selba H. 26, is married to Alta M. 28, and they have Robert A., eleven months.
In 1930 Selba H. Baugh, 27, is a farm worker in Lincoln Nebraska, married to Alta 39, Iowa. They have Robert A. 13, and Virginia L. 5, both Colorado. Mother-in-law Laura M. Jones, 61 widowed, Illinois, and brother-in-law William R. Jones 25 and sister-in-law Emyl C. Jones 21 are also with them. William has no occupation, and Emyl is a stenographer.

In registering in Cheyenne County, Kansas, Moses Franklin Brown, born Dec 17, 1886 in Alma Nebraska, is farming with a wife and four children. They're in Cheyenne County in 1920, and in 1930 there have Eleanor 19, Edith 16, Alvis 14, Francis 12, Lyle 9, Bernice 8. M. Franklin Brown # 52879616 is buried in Eckley 1886-1977. "The US did not seriously challenge the Japanese on the Aleutian Islands until nearly a year later, when the US 7th Division began landing on the mountainous, treeless island of Attu. One of these soldiers was Lyle L. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown, who lived in the Haigler area. The 7th Division fought for 18 days amid fog and rain before overwhelming the Japanese. On May 29, the remnants of the Japanese invaders mounted a suicide charge on the 7th Division. The Japanese soldiers attacked down a ridge screaming “Japanese drink blood like wine.” Lyle Brown was one of the American soldiers who did not survive this suicidal attack. " "WW II Army Veteran. Lyle Leo Brown lived with his parents until October 6, 1942 when he was inducted into the service at St. Francis, Kansas. He served as a Private in the US Army Engineers. Pvt. Lyle was killed in action in the campaign to reclaim the Attu, Aleutian Islands from the Japanese. Pvt. Lyle L. Brown’s body was returned by military escort to his parents at Eckley, Colorado where they had moved to some months before his death. " Lyle is buried in Eckley # 7729552. He is survived by his parents, Frank and Nora Brown of Eckley, one brother, Alvis of Wray, five sisters; Eleanor Lush of Eckley, Drussill Brough of Rexford, Kansas, Edith Owens of Madrin, Nebraska, Frances Boardman of Wray and Bernice Roe of Eckley. "Alvis Edward Brown was born February 6, 1916 to Frank and Nora (Baugh) Brown in Cheyenne County Kansas. He passed away December 26, 2011 at the Wray Hospital at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 20 days. Alvis was a farmer and rancher by heart. During his life he worked for farmers and ranchers around Nebraska and Coloradolater moving to Wray working for Paul and Bill Groves for many years. He married Inez Hubert of McCook, Nebraska and to this union one son was born, Larry Lee ofBrighton,Colorado. Later, he married Orpha (Howard) Eaks on April 13, 1973 and to this union brought her three daughters, Edie, Ellen, and Ruth. After retiring from farming and ranching, Alvis and Orpha cleaned First National Bank for years, then retiring from that he took up lawn mowing and working for many people around Wray. He was also known for his beautiful garden and that earned him the nickname “Farmer Brown”. After failing health he retired, but was able to live at home until a short time before he entered Hillcrest Care Center. Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter-in-law, June, sisters, Eleanor Lush, Drussil Brough and husband, Cleo, Edith Owens and husband, Orval, Frances Boardman and husband, Don, brothers, Arthur and Lyle. He is survived by wife, Orpha, son, Larry Lee, granddaughters, Amy and Nicole and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and P.J., step-daughters, Ruth Bullard of Herndon, KS, Edie Cumingham and husband, Jay of Tyler, TX, Ellen Foche and husband, Chuck of Ludell, KS, 9 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Bernice Roe and husband, Max of Caney, KS, Darlene Cumley, whom Alvis’ folks raised, a special cousin, Stan Shafer and wife, Carol and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Murray, of North Adams Street, Pottstown, died Sunday in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Wray, Colorado, she was a daughter of the late Selba and Alta (Jones) Baugh. She worked as a teletypist for Sears Roebuck and Company for 15 years. Mrs. Murray was a member of Cedarville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Schuylkill Chapter No. 338 of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Larry Murray of Largo, Florida, Jerry Murray of Pottstown, and Tim Murray of Birdsboro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Highland Memorial Mausoleum, Farmington Avenue, Pottstown. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park." Wyoming Tribune 28 Feb 1940 Anderson Services Scheduled for Friday Funeral services for Mrs. Delphia Lee Anderson, 42, who died Wednesday after a year of ill health, will be held at 2 p.m.Friday at the Worland motuary chapel, with James O. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Pete Anderson of Cheyenne; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Taylor of Cheyenne; her mother, Mrs. Susan Baugh, Wray, Colo.; two brothers, John Baugh of Castle Rock, Colo., and Selba Baugh of Lincoln Neb.; and five sisters, Mrs. Nora Brown of Heigler, Neb., Mrs. Stella Endry of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Velma Rogers of Wray Colo. ; Mrs. Elsie Penton of Greeley, and Mrs. Vesta Sample of Greeley. Wray Gazette July 9, 1942 SGT. Ray J. Bowman Killed By Gun Shot at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, July 3 Sgt. Ray J. Bowman, former Wray man, was killed by a gunshot wound Friday, July 3rd, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This information was received by relatives in Wray and comes as a great shock. The body is being brought to Wray for funeral services but at this writing arrangements have not been completed. It is understood that the shot that killed Sgt. Bowman was accidental, but explicit information is lacking. Ray Bowman was about 28 years old. He spent his entire life in or near Wray until he enlisted four years ago. He was in the engineers branch of service. Sergeant Bowman was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Bowman and was born at Lynnaus, Missouri on May 23, 1913. He was 29 years, 1 month and 9 days old at the time of his death. In 1920 he came with his parents to this community and received his schooling here. The family lived on a farm northeast of Wray until 1932 when they moved into Wray. The entire community will learn of Sgt. Bowman's death with sincere regret and will extend heartfelt sympathy to the father, brothers and other relatives. Sergeant Bowman's mother, Mrs. Lottie Bowman, preceded him in death. Survivors include the father, W.H. Bowman of Littleton, four brothers, Leslie and Lester of Littleton, Orval of Kanorado, Kansas and Private LeRoy of San Diego, California and his grandmother, Mrs. Susie Baugh of Wray, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other less near relatives. |
