In 1910 Smith County, Kansas, Roy G. Upp is 22, with Andrew 49 and Maggie 41. He has six younger siblings, all born in Kansas.

" Roy Upp returned to his home near Yuma, Colo., last Friday. He was called bore by the illness of hi 3 father, Andrew Upp. "
"Anerew W. Upp was born at Clarkeville, Iowa, J-iu,l, 1861 and died at his home in Logan township, Smith Co., Kansas, Dec. 4 1917, age 66 years 10 months and 10 days. With his parents he moved to this county in 1871 where he resided until his death. He was united in marriage to Ulna Maggie Stones also of Loganu township in 1885. To this union were born eight children, four boys and four girls. All are living except one girl, Louie, who died in infancy. The other seven were at the bedside as their father departed this life. Besides the wife and seven children nro two brothers, Peter Upp of Lebanon, Kas., Jay Upp of Falrbury, Neb., three sisters, Mrs. J. A. Hartiuan.Mrs. H. Goldsworth of Lebanon, Kas., and Mrs. Nannie Francis of Oretuu, Khs. Many other relatives and friends are left to mourn his death. Mr. Upp was lain to rest In the Oriole cemetery on Wednesday. He will be greatly missed in this county"

June 3, 1931 Lincoln, Nebraska
"Funeral service were held at Lebanon. Kas., for Mrs. Andrew W. Upp, sixty-three, long time resident of this locality who died last Friday following a short illness. Interment was in Mt. Hope cemetery near here."

July 4, 1913 "A fine baby, boy was born Sunday of last week to Mr. and. Mrs. Roy Upp, of the south Happyville country. "

November 1914
"The Vernon doctor was called last Sunday to see Mrs. Wm. Dunn, who was quite sick at Al Brady's. They removed her to the home of Roy Upp to be cared for.

Clifford Rolling spent the day last Sunday at the Roy Upp home.
Herman Lidke, the Kings medicine man, stopped over Sunday with Roy Upp. "

"Roy Upp expects his father from Kansas to make them a visit. They will drive out in an auto."

Roy proved up 320 acres in sections 22, 23, and 27, 2S 46W in 1916.

Roy registered for WWI in Yuma County, with a wife and three children. He was born April 15, 1888 at Lebanon, Kansas.

May 23, 1918 "Roy Upp says that if anybody finds his hat over about Vernon it would be doing him a favor to return the same to him, as the sun is pretty hot on heads these days. On May 10th there was a fine pair to twin boys came to visit the home of Roy Upp and wife. Mother and babies are doing fine. Roy didn't think that there was much chance of his pulling through, but the nurse, Mrs. John Andrews of Eckley, thinks he will make it with good treatment, if no complications set in. Here's hoping he will, for grass is nearly here. "

August 1918

November 6, 1919 "Roy Upp shipped his household goods to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he expects to shovel coal for the railroad company. "

In 1920 Lancaster County, Nebraska, Roy Upp is a laborer, with Mary, both 29 born in Kansas. Zama 8, Ralph 6, Cliffor 4, Harold and Gerald 1, all born in Colorado.

In 1930 Lincoln, Nebraska, Leroy is a truck driver, 41, Mary B. 40, with Zelma M. 18, Ralph O. 16, Clifford J. 15, Harold and Gerald both 11.

1938 Lincoln "Mrs. LeRoy Upp is at Bryan Memorial hospital, where she underwent a major operation Tuesday. Her condition is fair."

In 1940 Lincoln, Leroy is a carpenter, with Mary and Harold a farm hand.

Leroy 1888-1954 # 28783907 and Mary 1889-1971 # 28783926 are buried in Eugene, Oregon.

Harold and Ralph both died in Lincoln, NE.
Zelma, Clifford and Gerald all died in Eugene, OR.

CLIFFORD

Clifford Thomas Upp (m Myrtle May Renner; children are Mary Dee Upp, Patricia Anne Upp, Clifford Thomas Upp, Jr.) - died in Eugene, OR - d 1968

Clifford 1915-1968 # 5193843 is also buried in Eugene, with his son Clifford, Jr. 1944-2005 "He was born June 11, 1944, in Lincoln, Neb., to Clifford Thomas Upp Sr. and Myrtle May Renner. He lived in Eugene before moving to Leaburg. Mr. Upp worked as a driver for Georgia-Pacific for more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and guns. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include a sister, Patricia Anne Young of Corvallis. "

RALPH

February 4, 1939 "The marriage of Miss Dorothy Shelley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shelley, and Ralph Upp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Upp, was performed by Judge Reid at 11 a. m. Saturday. The couple will be at home in Lincoln. "

July 29, 1943 "Richard Wayne Upp, three and a half month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Upp, 3309 N Fifty-fourth street, died at a hospital Thursday morning. Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Robert Lee, at home grandparents, Mr. and Mrs L. Shelly and Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Upp. all of Lincoln. Funeral services will be Friday at Wadlow's. Burial will be in Wyuka "

GERALD

April 2, 1959 "Lester R. Shelley of 151 Arcadia, passed away in a local hospital April 1, 1959, He was born at Palmyra, Nebraska May 1896. His wife, Louella died October 28, 1958. He was a member of the Berean Baptist Church and was an employee of the Register-guard. He lived in Eugene since 1952. He is survived by 6 children: John of Bakersfield, Dorothy Berry and Lois Upp, both of Eugene. Margaret Hartshorn of Texas, Lorrine Wright and Doris Pester both of Nebraska; 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child; sisters: Mrs. Ella Auora and Mrs. Myrtle Baker, both of Nebraska. Funeral will be held in the Poole-Larsen Chapel Saturday, April 4, 1959 at 3 p.m. Rev. Lowell Humphries officiating. Interment at west LeSwn


1956 Eugene "Mrs. L. R. Shelley and daughters gave a baby shower Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. G. R. Upp, for Mrs. Mary Shelley, widow of Edwin Shelley. Each present was wrapped in a diaper. Mrs. Shelley's husband was killed in an automobile accident "
"Funeral services for Edwin R. Shelley, 25, of Eugene, Oregon, were held Friday in Eugene. Mr. Shelley was killed in an automobile accident near Portland. A native of Lincoln, he attended Havelock Junior High School. He was a member of the Air National Guard unit here until inducted into the regular Air Force in 1952. After his discharge, he moved to Eugene, with his parents. He was a brother of Mrs. Robert Pester, .6801 Orchard. Other survivors are his wife, Mary; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shelley of Eugene; sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Berry, Mrs. Lois Upp, and Mrs. Lorrine Wright , all of Eugene, and Mrs. Margaret Hartshorn of Harlingen, Tex.; and a half-brother, John L. Shelley of Bakersfield, Calif."

Doris Shelley married Robert Penter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Penter of Valparaiso, Nebraska on May 24, 1949 in Lincoln.

Doris Jones, a clerk at Otis Colorado, 33 years old, divorced, married Robert M. Penter, 31, a plasterer born at Albion, Nebraska, in Clark County, Washington August 1, 1955.

"Lois M. Wood, 81, Lafayette, Ore., formerly Lincoln, died Friday (2/6/04). Born, Lincoln (8/13/22), to Lester R. and Luella A. Wilson Shelley. Raised and schooled in Lincoln. Loved to sew, knit and garden. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Member: Old Time Fiddlers. Survivors: husband, Donald Wood; daughters, Sharon Drew, Sherwood, Ore., Linda Herzog, Henderson, Nev.; stepdaughter, Amy F. Woodward, Oregon City, Ore.; stepsons, Gary Wood, Anderson Island, Wash., Dean S. Wood, Vancouver, Wash., Bradley S. Wood, Tonasket, Wash.; David G. Wood; Clarkston, Wash.; sister, Lorrine Wright, Lincoln; aunt, Evelyn Graham, Washington; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: two brothers; three sisters; first husband, Gerald Upp."

Gerald R. Upp 1918-1971 # 79278466 is buried in Eugene, with Lois M. (Shelley) Wood 1922-2004.
