Henry and Sophia (Buchholz) Witte, brother Frederick and Emma (Horstman) Witte  Vernon



HENRY

September 1914 "Henry Witte of Vernon precinct was called to Minnesota the first of the week by the death of an uncle."

Henry Witte 1860-1942 is buried in Vernon, # 79918177, with Sophia 1864-1885 # 79918512.


Sophia and Henry had Henry D. Witte near Norborne Missouri on Nov 23, 1886, and Sophia died seven days later. Henry was raised by his grandparents Henry and Dorathea Buchholz. Henry Jr. married Emma Brueggeman on April 21, 1909.

In 1900 Carroll County, Missouri, Henry Witte born Nov 1886 in Missouri, is with Henry Buchholz born Aug 1826 in Germany. Herman Feb 1867 in Missouri has been married six years to Lizzie March 1873 in Germany.
Henry Buchholz is buried in Carroll County 1827-1912 # 110605330.

HENRY D.

Born to Henry Witte of near Vernon on February 10, 1914, a bouncing baby boy."

March 2, 1916 "It's a boy at A. A. Higgins and a girl at Henry Witte's. They were both born on Washington's birthday and should have illustrous names."
FRED

Fred Witte, 33, son of Christ Witte and Maria Dickoeker, married Emma Horstman on Nov 19, 1885 in Madison County, Illinois.
Emma was 18, daughter of Christ Horstman and Louise Hasellr.

Emma was in Madison County, Illinois is 1880, 12, with Christian and Louisa both 48. Fredrick is 9, Christian 20.

Emma's sister Dina had married a Wisemann, and then Henry Hartman on April 12, 1885 in Madison County.
Henry 1857-1933 is buried in Pleasant Ridge, Madison County, Illinois.
So is Dina 1860-1961 # 188353343.

October 28, 1899 " Christ Horstman's brother-in-law arrived from Illinois Wednesday with two carloads of household goods."

Fritz proved up a quarter in section 1, 2S 44W in 1899.



In 1900 Yuma County, Frederick is farming, born Dec 1852 in Germany, with Emma Aug 1868 in Missouri. Henry W. C March 1899 in Colorado. His brother Henry Oct 1860 in Germany, is widowed.
October 1900 "Fritz Witte, who has been visiting friends and relatives near Vernon returned to Collinsville yesterday." (this might be an uncle or cousin....)

June 16, 1905 "Mrs. Fred Witte and Christ Horstman received word Saturday that their father had died at St Louis, Mo. They left at once to attend the funeral."

In 1910 Yuma County, Fritz is farming, 57, born in Germany, immigrating in 1882, married 24 years to Emma 41 born in Missouri, with son Christie 11 born in Colorado. Fritz' brother Henry Witte is widowed, 47, and his mother's sister Louisa Horstman, 78, widowed born in Germany, immigrating in 1869.

August 1914 "Henry Bruene and daughter, Miss Carrie, arrived Thursday from their home in Grant City, Illinois, and are visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Witte of west of town."
"Henry Bruene and daughter, Miss Carrie, of Granite City, Illinois, are visiting in the Witte home. Miss Bruene is a presswoman in a newspaper office in her home town and made this office a fraternal call."

November 1915

Fritz is farming in 1920 Yuma County, 69, with Emma 51, Chris 20, and Henry 59.

Frederick D. Witte 1852-1923 is buried in Vernon # 47671656, with Emma M. (Horstman) Witte 1868-1934 # 47671705.
