Francis E. and Angie E. (Morey) Peck, Clyde Peck   Vernon



In 1880 Decatur County, Iowa, Francis is 2, with Hiram L. Peck 27 and Lucy 25. Oscar L. is 4, and Clyde A. is four months old.

In 1885, Francis is 7, with Hiram and Lucy Peck, both 31, in Leon, Decatur County, Iowa. Oscar is 10, Clyde 5, Ziney 3, and Ruby 1.

CLYDE

Clyde Amos Peck registered for WWI in Vernon, born Jun 5, 1879, a farm laborer for Wm. Schrock of Asiley, Nebraska, relative Lucy Peck of Vernon.

In 1910 Franklin County, Nebraska, Francis is 33, Angie 32, Theodore 9, David H. 5, and Zelma 3.
Clyde Peck 30 is with them.

Clyde is farming in 1920 Yuma County, single living alone.

Clyde is single in 1930 Morrill County, Nebraska 50, born in Iowa.

In 1940 Culbertson, Nebraska, Clyde is 60, now married to Elizabeth 57 born in Ohio. Her daughter Anna Waterman 23 born in Nebraska is with them.

Elizabeth is buried in Culbertson 1883-1948 # 125452682.
"Mrs. Peck (nee Elizabeth Miller) was born in the state of Michigan on April 2, 1883 and came to Culbertson with her parents when a small child. She attained the age of 64 years, 10 months, and 14 days.

On August 13, 1901 she was united in marriage with John Waterman, and they made their home here until 1916, when the family moved to Bridgeport, Nebraska. Mr. Waterman died there in 1922. Since her marriage to Clyde Peck on December 10, 1930, she had always lived in Culbertson."

When Elizabeth's son Ike Waterman died in 1953, his stepfather Clyde Peck was living in Culbertson.

FRANCIS

Francis E. Peck, born in Spring Valley, Iowa, to Hiram L. Peck and Lucy Bellows, married Angie E. Morey on March 22, 1898 in Pleasanton, Iowa, Angie was born in Pleasanton to David B. Morey and Debra A. Rockwell.

Hiram is buried in Shields Cemetery, Decatur County 1853-1902.
So is Lucy Ann (Bellows) Peck 1854-1928.

ANGIE'S FAMILY

In 1880 Decatur County, David B. is 50, Deborah 40, Charles E. 22, George M. 20, Eliza 16, Elsie 14, Ebenezer 11, William 8, Silvia 6,James 43, and Angeline 2.

In 1900 Angie and Francis are living with her father David B. Morey, 69, born in Indiana

David Butterfield Morey 1830-1901 is buried in Pleasanton # 6360302, with Deborah Ann (Rockwell) Morey 1841-1888 # 6360303.
Theodore Peck was born in Pleasanton, Iowa to Francis Elmer Peck and Angie E. Morey.

Francis Elmer Peck registered for WWI with a Vernon address, born March 9, 1878, with wife Angie E. Peck.

Francis proved up 281 acres in sections 7 and 8, 2S 45W in 1919.


They didn't stay long - in 1920 he's a logger in Linn County, Oregon, 41, born in Iowa, with Angeline 42 in Iowa. Theodore is 19, born in Iowa, David H. Nebraska, Zelma 13 in Nebraska, and Raymond 15 months old born in Colorado.

In 1930 Francis is a cigar clerk in Riverside, California, with Angie, both 52, Theodore 29 a laborer and his wife Inez 22 a bookkeeper, David H. 22 a laborer, Zelma Scambler 22 divorced, a clerk in a chain store, Raymond Peck 11, Dale Scambler 2.

One lodger is Ralph Catchpole, 23, born in Colorado.
He had been Yuma County in Colorado, between Eckley and Vernon, son of Charles L. Catchpole 32 and Emma P. 26.

Ralph married Laura L. Corbin on Nov 1, 1933 in Vancouver, Washington.
Ralph is buried in Lewis County, Washington 1907-1984 # 51326998.
Laura L. Catchpole, 77, died May 10, 1987 in Clark County, Washington.
She's buried with Ralph 1910-1987 # 51326993.


In 1940 Riverside, Francis is a bartender, with Angie both 62. Raymond 21, a night watchman.

Next to them is David H. Peck, 35 married to Verda P. 34 born in Nebraska.

Francis Elmer Peck, mother Bellows, died May 2, 1951 in Riverside County, California.

Angie E. Peck, born Dec 24, 1877, died April 12, 1968 in Riverside County.

Theodore, 28, married Inez Florence Gilchrist on September 22, 1927 in Decatur County.

Theodore, born Aug 3, 1901, died in Riverside County January 5, 1960.

DAVID

In 1940 Riverside County, David and Veeda Peck are next to his parents.
He's a fruit grader.

David Hiram Peck of Riverside County, California, married Monine Lee Morton of Jackson County, Missouri, in Jackson County on August 3, 1950.

David H. Peck, born Jan 9, 1905, died in San Bernardino County June 2, 1971.

ZELMA

Zelma Peck and Walter Scambler, both of Vernon, married in Vernon on Nov 21, 1925, witnesses Mrs. R.E. Day and Miss Vivian Keith.

Walter is a farm hand in 1930 Yuma County, 30, born in Oklahoma, married but no spouse.

1935

In April 1935 Wally Scambler of Laird was found guilty of stealing seventy bushels from Jake Brown, a farmer living in the Laird community.



Walter is a farm hand in 1940 Yuma County, 40, born in Minnesota, divorced, working for Arthur E. and Darlene Jones.

Walter 1900-1978 is buried in Gothenburg, Nebraska # 30880762.

One post said he married Irene A. (Buss) Troxel, who had married Voyle Troxel in 1936, having three children, then dirorced, and Irene married Walter. Irene died in 1971.
Irene is buried in Gothenburg # 30880760.

Zelma Scambler, 23, married Otto J. Isenberger on July 7, 1930 in Yuma Arizona.

Zelma Peck and Otto J. Isenberger had Dwight Norman Isenberger on April 20, 1932 in Riverside County.
Dwight is buried in Phoenix National # 22145940 "Dwight Norman Isenberger, 75, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on October 7, 2007. He was born in Riverside, CA, and was a U.S. Marine who served in the Korean War. Lived in CA for 42 years then moved to Phoenix, where he was an electrician, electrical contractor for 47 years and proud owner of Rio Electric Company for 17 years. He is survived by his brother Dean. His wife Pauline of 53 yrs and their 4 daughters; Susan Towne, Teresa Zaharek, Marie Knight, Julie Bunkers. 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren."

Otto, born Aug 30, 1893 in Indiana, died in Los Angeles on August 31, 1940.
He's buried in Riverside, # 146419848.

Zelma L. Boese is a saleswoman in Independence, Missouri in 1957.

Zelma Boese 1906-2001 is buried in Independence, Missouri # 84255127, with Edward C. Boese 1913-1991.

Dale might be the Dale "Shambler" in 1940 Pottawattamie County, Iowa, - but he's 18, born in Iowa. Maybe they just got his name wrong???

1963 Ireton, Iowa "Dr. and Mrs. Wert and children will leave soon for their new home at Luverne, Minn. Dr. and Mrs. D. D. Wert entertained at a picnic dinner at their home last Saturday evening complimenting Dr. and Mrs. Dale Scambler and daughters, Ann 11 and Lois 9 of Hartley. The new Veterinarian and family will move to Ireton, the first part of June. Guests at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Van Skike and Troy, Mrs. Bill Eilts and children and Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Groom and daughters."

June 1973 Plymouth County, Iowa "Dr. and Mrs. Dale Scambler and family arrived here from Riverside, California, and are house guests in the R. Groom home."
"Dr. and Mrs. Dale Scambler and family arrived at the Sioux City Airport Wednesday evening. Mrs. Robert Groom met them and brought them to Ireton. The Scamblers were former Ireton residents and now live at Riverside, California."

"Verla Scambler, a woman of impressive energy, humor, intelligence, independence, forthrightness and volunteer spirit, passed away on May 14th, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She is survived by her loving daughters, Amanda Newman and Lois Scambler of San Diego; half-brother, Charles Pleak of Oakland, IA; half-sister, Ruth Pleak of Bonner Springs, KS; and nieces and nephews. Born in Iowa in 1929 to farming parents, she lost her mother at the age of 20 months. Verla was driving farm machinery in grade school, flying airplanes in high school and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She met and married Dale Scambler while an undergraduate at Iowa State University, where she received her B.S. in Biological Science. She worked as a school teacher, a real estate agent and for many years as a veterinary assistant and bookkeeper at her husband's practice. After his death in 1973, she opened the first of two flower shops that she owned and operated until retiring at age 62. She then moved from Riverside to Rancho Bernardo to be closer to her daughters and to enjoy San Diego's natural beauty and bountiful activities. Her interests included bridge, gardening, learning Spanish, gourmet cooking, bird watching, skiing, hiking, computer classes, sewing, boogie boarding and ballroom dancing."
December 1953 Council Bluffs, Iowa " Caroline Alice Pleak, 87, died at her home here Monday. Born near Oakland, she had lived in Pottawattamie County all her life. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p m. at Vieth's Funeral Home. The Rev. W. K Hasenyager will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Survivors are: one daughter Mrs. Jette Clark of Oakland; two sons, Strauther of Oakland and Elaine of New Castle, Wyo.; six grandchildren, including Mrs. Dale Scambler of Ames, who was raised by Mrs. Pleak"
