In 1880 Davis County Iowa, Margert A. More is 45, with children Fredric G. 15, Adaline 15, John Allen 10, Martha A. 8, and James M. 5.

In 1880 Decatur County, David B. Morey is 50, Deborah 40, Charles E. 22, George M. 20, Eliza 16, Elsie 14, Ebenezer 11, William 8, Silvia 6, James 43, andAngeline 2.

James Monroe Morey, born in Pleasonton, Iowa, to Daniel B. Morey and Deborah Rockwell, married Estella Charlotte Reese, daughter of John Reese and Emma Williams, on June 9, 1901 in Pleasonton. She was 25, born in Bracewell, Iowa.

In 1900 Gage County, Nebraska James born Oct 1876 in Iowa, single, with brother George Jan 1860 in Iowa, George's wife Sarah 40 and his son Sidney Sep 1895 Nebraska.


In 1910 Franklin County, Nebraska, James M. is farming, married nine years to Estella C., both 33 born in Iowa. She's had three kids, two living, Wanda 4 and Marjorie L. 2, both born in Nebraska.

March 1913 "The Beck and Morey sale was well attended Monday. Stock sold exceptionally well "

February 1914 "Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Morey of six miles west of Vernon, came down from Denver yesterday and are spending a few days in the I. C. Edwards home. Mr. and Mrs. Morey had gone to Denver sometime previous where Mrs. Morey had undergone an operation in one of the city's hospitals."

October 1914

1914 "Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Morey of six miles west of Vernon, came down from Denver yesterday and are spending a few days in the I.C. Edwards home.  Mr. and Mrs. Morey had gone to Denver sometime previous where Mrs. Morey had undergone an operation in one of the city's hospitals."

James proved up two quarters in 6, 2S 45W in 1915 - this would be about fifteen miles south of Eckley.  Witnesses were Owen I Critchfield, Arthur W. Bagley, Oscar J. Smitz, Frank S. Bench, all of Vernon.

1916 "Jim Morey unfortunately ran a sliver in his arm the other day while doing some work about the barn.  He had to come to Vernon and invoke the aid of a doctor to abstract the offending missive."

James Monroe Morey registered with an Eckley address, saying he was born October 22, 1876, and nearest relative was Estella C. Morey.

J.M. Morey had a telephone listing in the  Eckley/Happyville phone book.

Wanda graduated from the eighth grade in Yuma County in 1919.

In 1920 James and Estella are in Decatur County, Iowa, with Wanda 14, Marjorie 11, and Walter 9. - all three born in Nebraska.

They're back in Yuma County in 1930, stock raising - Marjorie and Wanda are teaching school, and Walter is working on the ranch.

Marjorie Morey married R.B. Allingham Jun 7, 1930.

Walter W. Morey married Elaine Barth Jan 20, 1934.

Wanda E. Morey married John W. Maurice June 16, 1938.

In 1940 Yuma County James and Estella are still farming - they have a hired hand, Russell L. Salter, 26.

James M. 1876-1952 # 6360317 and Estella C. Morey 1876-1952 # 6360306 (FindaGrave has the same birth and death for both) are in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur County, Illinois.



1952 Wray Gazette "Word of the death of J. M. Morey of Pleasanton, Iowa, on Sunday was received by Yuma county friends the first of the week. The Morey family lived in the Eckley community until a few years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Morey moved to Pleasanton. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Latter Day Saints church in Pleasanton. Mr. Morey is survived by his wife, three children, Mrs. Wanda Maurice of the west coast, Mrs. Bruce Allingham of northern Iowa and Walter Morey of Davenport, and his grandchildren. One grandson, Ronnie Morey, makes his home with his aunt, Mrs. Duain Fix, of Wray. The boy accompanied Ivan and Kermith Beach and Russell Salters of Eckley to Pleasanton for the services."

MARJORIE

Marjorie Morey, 21 married R. Bruce Allingham on June 6, 1930 in Yuma County.
They had James Robert Allingham on July 20, 1931. He married Helen Jean Elizabeth Molster on January 11, 1985 in Madison, Virginia.

In 1940 they're working for the Larimer County schools, living in Loveland. Robert Bruce Allingham was born Oct 4, 1908 in Downers Grove Illinois.

Dr. Robert Bruce Allingham, 1908) Williams in 1955, and she's buried with him 1909-2010.
"James R. Allingham, 85, passed away at Duke University Hospital on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born in Amarillo, TX to the late Robert Bruce Allingham and Marjory Morey Allingham.
Capt. Allingham retired from the U.S. Navy where he was in command of several ships. He served during the Vietnam War.
Capt. Allingham is survived by his wife, Lizabeth Allingham; sons, Robert Rand Allingham and wife Anna Stout, Joel Richard Allingham and wife Lou Ellen; grandchildren, Michael Allingham and his wife Jennifer Rogers, Erin Allingham and her husband Brian McCarthy, Joel Allingham; and two great-grandchildren Rowan and Rees Allingham.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery. FindaGrave # 180048309.

WALTER

Walter W. Morey of Eckley and Elaine Barth of Yuma married in Burlington, Colorado on January 20, 1934, witnessed by Mrs. O.C. Barth.

Walter Morey is farming in Yuma County in 1940, 29, born in Nebraska, with Elaine 22 born in Iowa. Ronald 5 was born in COlorado.

1951 "Walter Morey and Ronnie visited in the Ivan Beach home on Sunday.

Ronald is buried in Yuma 1934-1959 # 74038110.




1960 Eckley "Mr. and Mrs. Walter Morey of Pleasanton, Iowa stopped over to visit Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Beach. They were enroute to Riverside, California. Mr. Morey and Mr. Beach are cousins.

When Ravenel (Barth) Fix died in 1985, she was survived by a sister Elaine Boese and husband Ed of Arvada.
When Jane Griffin Barth Leach died in Yuma in 1986, a daughter was Elaine Boese of Arvada.

Elaine Barth Boese attended the 50th class reunion of the Eckley class of 1936.

Elaine B. Boese 1918-2001 is buried in Fort Logan # 23215310, with Edward P. Boese 1921-1990 # 3337258.

WANDA

"In 1954 the Maurice's moved back to Yuma County to live on the Jim Morey farm  two miles east and two and one-fourth miles south of Eckley.  Wanda inherited one-half of the farm, and John bought the other one half interest from Wanda's sister, Marjorie Allingham"

Wanda Edith Morey Maurice, born Nov 12, 1906 died October 16, 1984 in Eckley, and John W. Maurice born 1909 in Colorado died Dec 25, 1987 in Eckley.

When the 2013 graduates of Gonzaga University School of Law walk across the stage at Commencement, two beloved long-time professors will also be retiring from full-time teaching. Professor Maurice will also be receiving an honorary degree during Commencement ceremonies on May 11.

Professor John Maurice

Professor John Maurice's academic journey began with an undergraduate history degree cum laude at the University of Colorado and was completed with a Juris Doctor degree from the New York University School of Law. John's accomplishments as a student have been recognized in prestigious scholarships; Fulbright, Wilson and White House Fellowships; and Phi Beta Kappa membership.

John Maurice's life reflects the many ways he, in turn, rewarded society through his public service as a member of the Spokane Civil Service Commission; President of the Board of Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington and Idaho, as well as of The Inland Empire Association of Phi Beta Kappa. John's contributions demonstrate the truth of Lee F. Hamilton's observation that public service "is not just a way of life; it is a way to live life fully."

Maurice has spent nearly four decades teaching generations of Gonzaga law students. Maurice created both the Thomas More Scholarship Program and the Florence Summer Program. The former, which he directed for twenty five years, has provided a unique educational experience for more than 200 Gonzaga Law School graduates committed to the law through public service. The latter, begun with his colleague Mary Pat Treuthart, has given Gonzaga law students the opportunity to become familiar with international legal issues directly in Italy. John created (and for twenty-seven years directed) Gonzaga's Continuing Legal Education program, and, as chair of the Building Committee, oversaw the design and construction of Gonzaga's law school building. His career has been marked by numerous awards that acknowledge his excellence as a teacher.
