Alphonso and Jennie June (Hensley) Andrews , Vernon



In 1900 Webster County, Iowa, Alphonso, born May 1890 in Iowa, is with John Andrews July 1856 Iowa, married 20 years to Cora Sept 1862 Indiana. William Sept 1884, Joseph Dec 1885, Alta May 1887, Nellie Nov 1888, Alphonso May 1890, Agnes March 1892, Ruth Dec 1893, Elsie March 1897, and Mina Aug 1898, all born in Iowa.

John and Cora are farming in Yuma County in 1910, with only Mina 12 and Ina 9, both born in Iowa. Cora has had 12 children, eleven living.

John 1885-1941 # 44655606 and Cora Ellen (Rollo) Andrews 1861-1943 # 44656058 are buried in Vernon.

Jennie was in Vernon precinct in 1910, twin of Minnie May Hensley 14. James L. Hensley is 46, and Mary J. 45. Earle is 18 and Fred 16.

Jennie June Hensley of Mildred, Colorado, and F.A. Andrews of Mildred, married on May 1, 1913 in Vernon by David Foreman.

Alfred Alphonso Andrews 1890-1916 is buried in Vernon # 80205733,

November 1916 " The public sale on order of County Court, of the chattels of the estate of Fon Andrews, will be hold at the place fourteen miles southwest of Vernon, on Monday, December 4, Seventeen head of horses, 12 head of cattle, hogs, poultry and implements. Eight months time, W. T. Camoy, auctioneer, P. J Sullivan, clerk."

Jennie (Widow of F.A." proved up 320 acres in section 32, 2S 45W and sections 4 and 5, 3S 45W in 1916, and cash-claimed another eighty acres in 1917.

June Andrews and "Buman" Wheeler, both 28, married at Vernon on November 17, 1923.


In 1930 Berman and Jennie, both 34, are farming in Kirk precinct, Yuma County, with Hugh E. Wheeler 5.

Ancel A. 14 and Irvin T. 16 are living with her parents James L. Hensley 67 and Nancy J. Hensley 64 in Mildred precinct in 1930.

October 1936 "Mrs. Jim Hensley of Mildred who has been suffering with cancer for some time, is being cared for at the home of her daugter, Mrs. Burman Wheeler. Her ony brother, N. H. Eastin and his wife of Eckley drove down last week to visit her and also visited their sons Bud and Glen and a daughter, Mrs. Davis Burrell and families while here."

In 1940 Mesa County, Colorado, Berman Wheeler and June are farming, both 44 born in Misouri, with Hugh 15 born in Colorado.

1952 Palisade "Mr. and Mrs. Ansel Andrews and family had the family group Christmas eve with an exchange of gifts at the Christmas tree. Mr. and Mrs Burton Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wheeler and baby and Mr. and Mrs. Andrews and family made up the party. Christmas day the same family gathering met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wheeler for dinner and Mr. and Mrs. Esclo McKissen and family joined them in the afternoon. Sunday they were all dinner guests at the Burman Wheeler home."

February 1954 Palisade "Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Wheeler have purchased the Densmore property at 212 West st, and have moved there recently; They came here from Loma where they had been farming for a number of yean. The Wheelers are parents of two married sons, Ancel Andrews and Hugh Wheeler who reside near Loma."

Berman R. Wheeler 1895-1954 is buried in Palisade 3 50703610.

October 29, 1954 "Herman Wheeler of Eckley, Colorado, Mrs. Glen Easton, Mr. Earl Hensley and son Jack of Kirk Colorado, Dale Wheeler of Hawthorn, Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wheeler and Mr. Ben Dodson of Denver all left for their homes last Tuesday after attending the funeral of Mr. Wheeler. Mrs. Wheeler's son Irving Andrews left by plane Thursday for his home in San Diego."

Hugh E. Wheeler and Edna Louise McKissen married in Mesa County on June 15, 1950.
Edna Wheeler, born Feb 23, 1932, died in September 1938, last residence Grand Junction.

Hugh E. Wheeler, age 81, died April 17, 2006 in Moab, Utah. Hugh was born October 3, 1924 in Mildred, Colorado, the son of Berman and Jennie Wheeler and brother of Irvin T. and Ancil A. Andrews, who preceded Hugh in death. He resided in Kirk, CO and Palisade, CO as a young man with his family and attended and graduated from Fruita Union High School in 1942. Hugh served in the U.S. Army during World War II from March 1945 to July 1946. Following the service, Hugh returned to Fruita and worked farming and driving trucks.
In 1950, Hugh married Edna McKisson and they made their home in Fruita, CO. Together, they had a family of six children, all living. "Eddie Lou" died in Grand Junction in 1983. Hugh married Jackie Bierschied on October 20, 1984 in Moab, Utah. Hugh and Jackie were friends and classmates in Fruita, and following the death of Jackie's husband, Joe Bierschied, Hugh and Jackie were reunited and married. They resided in Show Low, AZ until 1986 and then made their home in Moab. Hugh retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a postal supervisor in 1984. In retirement, Hugh and Jackie enjoyed traveling and sharing and caring for gardens and took pride in wonderful and attractive yards at their homes.
Hugh is survived by Jackie and his six children: Elizabeth Crawford of Denver, CO, William (Donna) Wheeler of Commerce City, CO, Cheryl (Bill) Fiegel of Grand Junction, CO, Patricia Wheeler of Grand Junction, CO, Laurie (Tim) Deroche of Cody, WY, and John Wheeler of Salt Lake City, UT.
Hugh is also survived by stepsons Joe D. (Julie) Bierschied, David Bierschied, and Kim Bierschied, all of Moab, UT. He leaves 14 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a favorite uncle, Jasper Wheeler, of Fallon, NV. Hugh was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where funeral services will be conducted by Father Rick Sherman on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. A vigil service and visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kimmerle Funeral Home.

IRVIN

Dorothy M. Crabtree, 18, married Irvin T. Andrews on Dec 17, 1936 in Yuma County.
She was born Nov 24, 1919 in Eckley to Henry A. Crabtree and Elsie M. Hester, dying April 21, 2002.

Henry 1878-1947 # 40082698 and Elsie M. Crabtree 1883-1960 # 40082710 are buried in Eckley.

Dorothy's brother Walter died in December 1974.


Irvin T. Andrews is a farm hand in 1940 for his wife's parents Henry A. Crabtree 62 and Elsie M. 56. Dorothy M. is 20

1986 Yuma Colorado "Merle Eastin of Wray and Irvin and Dorothy Andrews from California are visiting relatives here. Mrs. Andrews and Merle Eastin are sisters."

November 1996 "Dallas and Irene Eastin returne home on Tuesday from visiting his siter, Velva McGinnis in Las Vegas and his aunt and uncle, Irvin and Dorothy Andrews in Payson, Arizona."

Irvin, born Feb 8, 1914, died June 18, 1998, last residence Payson, Gila County, Arizona.
Dorothy's last address was in Yuma, Arizona.

April 25, 2002 Yuma Colorado "Irene and Dallas Eastin reported that they had word of the death of his aunt Dorothy (Crabtree) Andrews, of Yuma, Arizona this past weekend. The community extends their sympathy to the family."
