Harry and Gertrude (Hollingsworth) Allison  , Vernon



In 1900 Keokuk County, Iowa, Harry is 11, with parents Stephen M. Allison 40 and Emma M. 41 (his second wife). Charles C. is 18, Jessie J. 16, Harry 11, Lorene 8, and Ada C. 6.

Stephen Marion Allison 1859-1935 is buried in Keokuk County # 92555469, with spouses Mary Etta (Eylar) Allison 1859-1886 and Mary Emma (Reece) Allison 1859-1936.

May 1913 "Harry Allison, nephew of George Allison of Vernon precinct who is visiting relatives in this county, was in Wray over Tuesday night, truest of the B. E. Hollingsworth family."

August 14, 1913 "Mr. Harry Allison, who left for a visit in Nebraska last week returned Saturday bringing a wife with him."

Gertrude Hollingsworth, 19, and Harry S. Allison married on August 9, 1913 in Yuma County.

December 1913
March 1916 Harry is the Vernon postmaster "Harry Allison is giving the new Federal building a fine coat of white paint which will add much to the handsomeness of the neat little building."

January 1917 "Harry Allison is about the most unfortunate individual we have met in many moons. After carrying an arm in a sling for most two waeks as a result of a broken clavicle, he was visiting Sunday with his uncle, G. W. Allison, south of town; stepping out of the house for a time, he slipped on a glare of ice, falling on the fractured shoulder and separating all there was of union in the original fracture."

James Hollingsworth of Haxtun, brother of Mrs. Harry Allison, visited just prior to leaving in July 1917 for service in Europe.


December 1913 "Mrs. Harry Allison was among the teachers who took the examination at Wray. She left on Monday to spend the holidays with home folks, near Superior, Nebraska.
Madison Musselman moved into the Deterding property on last Thursday and on Monday Harry Allison took up his residence in the house vacated by Mr. Musselman."

July 1917 "Harry Allison, Bud Duckworth, John Foreman and Max Ross left Sunday afternoon for Cheyenne to take in the big show."

In 1920 Vernon, Harry is farming, 30, born in Iowa, Gertrude 26 in Nebraska, with Eveline 3.


Gertrude is in Nuckolls County, Nebraska in 1930, 34, with Evelyn 13, Gerald 8, and Lorene 6. They're living with Gertrude's mother Anna Holingworth 66.

In 1940 Gertrude is a bookkeeper for a lumber company in Cedar City, Utah, 42, with Peggy 16.
They were in Tabernash, Colorado in 1935.

Possibly Gertrude remarried in 1959

Harry Steven "Slim" Allison 1889-1971 isburied in Wheat Ridge # 162440734.

There was a Chauncey B. Gray in Denver in 1940, 51, married to Ethel M. Gray 56.
He's buried in Fort Logan 1889-1970 # 29495701.

Gertrude Allison Gray, born Nov 26, 1894, dying April 14, 1974, is buried in Wheat Ridge # 162546443.


Gerald H. Allison married LaVon Cook on Nov 5, 1948 in Clear Creek County, Colorado.

Gerald H. Allison 1921-1982 is buried in Fraser, Colorado # 21250357.
Ruby LaVon Cook Alexander 1926-2014 died in Kremmling, Colorado # 139697175.
