Slocum   , three names unconnected as yet.



Possible relative of Sarah Wyckoff Slocum Ford - Adolphus Slocum timber-claimed a quarter in section 6, 2S 44W - about five miles away from Sarah, in 1894. In 1860 Peoria County, there was an Adolphus Slocum, 6, one of six kids of Jacob B. Slocum 33 born in Ney York, with Elizabeth 29.
"J. B. Slocum came from New York in 1836 and settled in French Grove, Illinois, came to Jubilee in 1850. Died April 14, 1895, aged 68 years."

Adolphus was in Peoria in 1880, with wife Rose, in Chicago in 1900, and farming in North Dakota in 1910.
He is buried in Whittier California, 1854-1938 # 142741178.


ARTHUR
Arthur E. Slocum advertised in 1919 as a veterinarian at the North Side Feed Barn in Wray.

1922 "Dr. Arthur E. Slocum has removed from Denver, Colorado and is now located at Sioux Falls, South Dakota."
In 1940 Mitchell, South Dakota, Arthur is 45, born in California, with Fannie E. 47.

"FANNIE EDITH TUCKER was born September 25, 1892 in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, and died July 29, 1949.She married (1) JOE ALLEN.He died Unknown.She married (2) ARTHUR E. SLOCUM September 06, 1935.
Burial: Bet. July 29 - August, 1940

i. ROBERT TUCKER ALLEN, b. February 02, 1915; d. October 1926. "

1967 Mitchell, South Dakota
Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur E. (Mildred) Slocum, 68, Mitchell, will be Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Milliken Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Frank Lochridge officiating. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 7-9 p. m. the chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. She was born Sept. 10, 1899 to Mr. and Methodist church died Oct. 16 at a Mitchell hospital. On Jan. 5, 1950 she married Dr. Arthur E. Slocum at Mitchell. Survivors include her widower; one son, Robert Weber, Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters - Mrs. Helen Bcyer Seattle chell. SScramento, and Mrs. (Marian) Young, Mil-.. Also two brothers, Larry Kruger, Garden Grove, Calif., Mildred 1899-1967 is buried in Mitchell # 10460022.

Fannie 1892-1949 is buried in Mitchell # 104609996.

Arthur 1894-1982 is buried at Mitchell, South Dakota # 104609942.
EVERETT

In 1910 Knox County, Missouri, Everett is 13, living with his grandmother Martha Slocum, 74, widowed.
Next household is Scott W. Slocum, 41 and his wife Lon, 48. They hae Ivy 24, Edie 20, Bertie 17, Ella 13, and Ruth 8.

Everett Vivian Slocum registered for WWI in Baring, Missouri, born Nov 17, 1896 in Knox County, Missouri, nearest relative Alma.
In 1920 Scotland County, Missouri, Evert Slocum is farming, 23, with Alana 21, both born in Missouri, with Rex seven months born in COlorado.
The three of them are in Kirksville, Missouri i n1930, where Everett works in a shoe factory.

-------------------------------------------------------- Rex Wayne Slocum died peacefully on February 1, 2014. He was 94. He will be missed and his life will be remembered and celebrated by his family and friends.
Mr. Slocum was born in Yuma, Colorado on June 8, 1919. He attended high school in Kirksville, Missouri. In 1938, Mr. Slocum joined the United States Navy and served in the North Atlantic before the war. By December 1941, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Sacramento. He was one of the last Pearl Harbor survivors. In 1942, Mr. Slocum married Dorothy Mae Collop, another Kirksville native. After the war, the couple relocated and Mr. Solcum was stationed in San Diego, California. The couple became proud parents of their first child, Anna Jean Slocum. Later, Mr. Slocum was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. While there the couple had their son, Donald Wayne Slocum.
Mr. Slocum retired from active service in 1959 and moved his family to Pomona, California where he was a member of the First Baptist Church, The Fleet Reserve and Pearl Harbor Survivors. He worked as a maintenance electrician for Kaiser Steel, Potlatch Paper and worked with Garden State Paper until his retirement at age 62. a
Mr. Slocum is survived by his children and their spouses, daughter, Anna and son-in-law, Bruce Allyn; son, Don Slocum and daughter-in-law, Kathy Slocum; four grandchildren and their spouses, David Allyn (Lea), Michael Allyn (Amanda), Donette Zegar (Casey) and Scott Slocum (Angi). He was a proud great-grandfather to Christian, Garrett, Makenna, Brittyn, Savanna, Calla, Slater, Carly, Brandon and Jason.
