July 1914 About fifty friends and neighbors of David Smith paid him a surprise visit last Sunday, July 5 th, at his home ten miles northeast of Yuma, in honor of his fifty-eighth birthday. The day was pleasantly spent in social intercourse, interspersed with vocal and instrumental music. A sumptuous dinner, which, among other good things to eat, included ice cream ; lemonade and two huge birthday cakes was served. One of the cakes had inscribed upon it Mr. Smith's name, age and date of birth. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Northrup, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Waters and son, Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Russell and daughter, Grace, Mr and Mrs. N. E. Hall and family, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Pounds and family, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Waters and family, Mr. and Mrs. T. U. Smith. and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Waters and family, Mrs. L. T. Smylie and children, Misses Ada, Ora and Gladys Ramsey, Messrs. James Wear and Clifford Ramsey.


In 1920 D. J. owned almost all of section 6, and Charles Smith was living on the north-east corner.

Bonnie R. Rasmussen, 90, of Webster City, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours before the funeral service. Arrangements where made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191. Bonnie Rosalie Waggoner, daughter of Scott and Rose Martin Waggoner, was born September 4,1918 at Kamrar. She graduated from Lincoln High in Webster City in 1936 and attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls (UNI). She taught in Hamilton County rural schools for eight years. From August of 1943 to October of 1945, she served in the U.S. Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Corporal. She was an instructor in the Aviation Training Program. On November 10, 1945, she married, Marion L.Rasmussen at Fort Dodge. The couple resided at Webster City. Mr. Rasmussen died October 25, 1958. In July of 1959, she started employment at the First State Bank, first as a bookkeeper, then teller and retiring in 1988 as head teller. Bonnie is survived by nieces, Betty Ulstad of Fort Dodge;Sondrae Fort of Iowa City; Karen Bye of Lino Lakes, MN; Jean Moore of AZ; nephews, Elwin Waggoner of Mackinaw Island, MI; John Waggoner of West Des Moines; Larry and LaVerne Waggoner of California; great nieces and great nephews, Allen Welsh of Iowa City; Debra Simonson of Centennial, CO; Steven Ulstad of Dubuque; Kim Willson of Webster City; Michael Welsh of Bullhead City, AZ; Sarah Summers of Marshalltown; Jeanna Bentley of Webster City; Phillip Fort and Matthew Fort, both of Iowa City; David Waggoner and Susan Gregory, both of Michigan; Jay Waggoner of West Des Moines; several great-great nieces and nephews and several great-great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Don and Karl Waggoner; sisters, Altabelle Holloway; Freda Allen and Opal Goodrich; niece, Sherry Welsh. She was a member of the Church of Christ; past president of Business Professional Women; Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star; Past Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine; Past Chapter Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution; treasurer of the Webster City Community School District for ten years and served on the Zoning Board of Adjustments. She also enjoyed traveling, walking and reading.

"Louise M. Wagner, 92, of West Liberty, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. The Rev. Mario Padilla will officiate. She donated her body to science. A memorial fund has been established. Mrs. Wagner was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Burlington, Colo. She married Clifford W. Wagner in 1947 in Burlington. She worked as a visiting nurse in doctor's offices. She is survived by a son, Richard Wagner of West Branch; two daughters, Nadine Doane of Blue Springs, Mo. and Norine Piggot of California; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son; and six brothers and sisters. "

In April 1934 in Glenwood, Iowa, Charles Robb Ross of Onawa Iowa, a restaurant owner, 22, son of Charles W. Ross, married Arlo E. Fouts, age 20, born in Pisgah Iowa to Mark Fouts and Alma Smith. In 1940 Harrison County, Alma is a seamstress 50, married but no spouse, with Earle 13, Darlene 12, and Benny 9. Daughter Betty 19 is married to Howard Molitor, 30, a laborer.

Grinnell, Iowa, June 1, 1970
Earl M. Fouts, 47,of 1309 Reed St., Grinnell, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home Thursday. His body was discovered by a member of his family at about 5:30 p.m.
The son of Martin and Alma Smith Fouts, Mr. Fouts was born in Pisgah, Iowa, on Oct. 29, 1922. He graduated from Logan High School in 1941.
On March 29, 1942, he married Mary Anne Morrow at Logan, Iowa. To this marriage were born six children.
During World War II, Mr. Fouts served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific with the Marine Air Group No. 61. Following his discharge he became associated with the General Telephone Co. serving in several communities in Iowa and Nebraska.
In 1960, Mr. Fouts came to Grinnell where he had been Grinnell area manager of General Telephone.
Mr. Fouts was president of the Grinnell Baseball Association for seven years and was active in organizing the summer baseball program in Grinnell. He was also vice president of the Grinnell Rotary Club and a member of the Focht-Tennant Post 53 of the Grinnell American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne; six children--Karen Ann Fouts, formerly a captain in the Army Nurse Corps, of Onawa, Iowa, Michael Earl Fouts, a student at the University of Nebraska, Cpl. John Martin Fouts of Chu Lai, Vietnam, a member of the Marine Air Wing, Mrs. Roger (Susan Louise) Benson of Grinnell, Mrs. Steven (Mary Jo) Arthur of Panora, Iowa and Mrs. Gene (Christine Elizabeth) Ford of Grinnell; one grandson, Robert Steven Arthur of Panora; two brothers--Chester Fouts of Missouri Valley and Ben Southworth of Waterloo, Iowa; and four sisters--Mrs. Robert (Arlo) Ross of Onawa, Iowa, Mrs. William (Darlene) Smith of Onawa, Iowa, Mrs. Richard (Lois) Pfeifer of Sliverton, Ore., and Mrs. Bette Molitor of Lewiston, Idaho.
Mr. Fouts was preceded in death by his father in 1922; his mother in 1959; one brother, Clarence Fouts, and two sisters--Mrs. Louise McMains and Mrs. Louella Brown.
Requiem Mass for Mr. Fouts will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (June 2) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Leo V. Kuebrich, pastor of the church, officiating.
Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner. Pallbearers will be Calvin Kingery, Alvin Sheeler, Bill Schrader, Roger Stewart, Frank Reitzler and Melvin Storbeck.
Burial will be made in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Missouri Valley, Iowa, at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home where friends may call



Benny L. Southworth, 84, Waterloo, died at ManorCare Health Services on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
Benny was born May 2, 1930, in Woodbine, Iowa, son of Lyle and Alma Smith Southworth. He married Dena Kroeze on July 18, 1954 in Parkersburg, Iowa; she died June 15, 2012.

Benny was preceded in death by his wife, son David S. Southworth; three brothers: Clarence Fouts, Chester Fouts and Earl M. Fouts; and five sisters: Arlo Ross, Lois Pfiefer, Louise McMains, Louella Brown and Bette Molitor.
Clarence C. Fouts 1908-1962 is buried in Pisgah # 113487859.
Louella M. (Fouts) Brown 1911-1943, wife of Ivan M. Brown is buried in Woodbine, # 50816385.
Chester L. Fouts 1906-1977 is buried in Woodbine # 50816331.

In 1925 Lucas County, Iowa, E.B. Smith is 34, with Bertha E. (daughter of E.J. Schoolcraft Jr. and Minnie Shrader 31 and Mildred 11. J.W. Manke Sr., is 80, widowed.
In 1930 Kearney Nebraska, Elmer B. is 39, a chiropractor, with Bertha E. (Schoolcraft) Smith 37 and Mildred I. 16.
Bertha is a chiropractor in 1940 Minden, Nebraska, divorced.
In 1940 Kearney, Elmer is still a chiropractor, 49, now married to May Smith 35, with Audrey Clark 14. Maye Belle Clark had been in Kearney in 1930, married to Harold, with Audrey M. 4.

Elmer died Dec 30, 1975 in Orange County, California.
