January 2, 1924 Freeport, Illinois "John Flynn, a resident of this community for many years, died Sunday morning at the home of his son, William Flynn. Mr. Flynn was born in Dublin, Ireland, 92 years ago and came to the United States when he was ?? years of age. His wife died several years ago. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Kate Sisson, living in Colorado: Mrs. Agnes Goodwin, residing in Minnesota; Jack Flynn, Maryland, Wis,; James Flynn Owens?, Joe Flynn, Rockton, Illinois ; Mrs. Ella Meeks, Loyal, Wisconsin, Mrs. Emma Shepardson, Shirland, Illinois; Will Flynn of Durand. Mr. Flynn was a veteran of the Civil war.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic church. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery."

"Mrs. Joyce [Joye] Lena Bates, 75, of Shirland, Illnois died Thursday. October 19, 1967 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 9. 1892 in Wray, Colorado, the daughter of Clinton and Emma Flynn Shepardson. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Josephene Katterhenry of Shirland, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mark Shepardson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George and a brother, Mark Shepardson."

Josephine Shepardson was born Feb 28, 1894 at Wray, Colorado to Clinton J. Spepardson adn Emma M. Flynn.

March 14, 1955 Freeport Illinois "Fred J. Katterhenry, 67, died Sunday morning in a Monroe hospital following a long illness. He was born in Holland, Ind. Aug. 31, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Katterhenry. On June 18, 1930, he married the former Josephine Shepardson in Shirland. He came here in 1918 and worked for the Newell Grocery Co. for 3 years, retiring in 19S2. He was veteran of World War I, member of the Methodist Church and the Modern Woodmen of America. Survivors include his wife, two brothers, Henry and Walter of Beloit, Wis.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edwin Kellejohn of Holland, Ind and Mrs. Wilbur Hemmer of Shirland. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Shirland Methodist Church. The Rev. Henry Rose, pastor, will officiate Burial will be in Shirland Cemetery."

Josephine A. "Josie" (Shepardson) Katterhenry, 1894-1971 is buried in Winnebago County, Illinois # 84516607.
