for many years, died Sunday morning at the
home of his son, William Flynn. Mr. Flynn was born in Dublin, Ireland,
92 years ago and came to the United States when he was ?? years of age.
His wife died several years ago. He is survived by the following
children: Mrs. Kate Sisson, living in Colorado: Mrs. Agnes Goodwin,
residing in Minnesota; Jack Flynn, Maryland, Wis,; James Flynn
Owens?, Joe Flynn, Rockton, Illinois ; Mrs. Ella Meeks, Loyal, Wisconin, Mrs. Emma Shepardson,
Shirland, Illinois; Will Flynn of Durand.
Mr. Flynn was a veteran of the Civil war.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic church.
Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery."

March 1927 "William Flynn dropped into Wray last Saturday and went out to the home of Mrs. W. A. Sissbn, six miles west of town, and gave his sister, Mrs. Sisson, whom he had not met in forty years, a surprise visit. Mr. Flynn was on his way to his home in Illinois from a trip to Californ’a, stopping here enroute. While in California, he purchased a home and will :rrtove there later in the year, intending to pay his sister here an extended visit when he makes this change. He left Tuesday for Illinois to close up his business there."

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Josephene Katterhenry of Shirland, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mark Shepardson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George and a brother, Mark Shepardson."

March 14, 1955 Freeport Illinois "Fred J. Katterhenry, 67,
died Sunday morning in a Monroe hospital following a long illness.
He was born in Holland, Ind. Aug. 31, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Katterhenry. On June 18, 1930, he married the former Josephine Shepardson
in Shirland. He came here in 1918 and worked for the Newell Grocery Co. for 3 years,
retiring in 19S2. He was veteran of World War I, member of the Methodist Church
and the Modern Woodmen of America. Survivors include his wife,
two brothers, Henry and Walter of Beloit, Wis.; and two sisters,
Mrs. Edwin Kellejohn of Holland, Ind and Mrs. Wilbur Hemmer of Shirland.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Shirland Methodist Church.
The Rev. Henry Rose, pastor, will officiate Burial will be in Shirland Cemetery."

Katie Flynn of Eckley and William A. Sisson of Robb married in Yuma on December 3, 1891, witnesses David and Mary J. Sisson. John N. Norvill, minister, performed the ceremony.
"Bringing to an end months of illness, death claimed Mrs. W. A. Sisson,
widely known and highly respected pioneer resident of west of Wray,
Thursday afternoon of last week, July 8, 1943 at the Wray hospital
where she had been a patient for many weeks.
Old time friends thronged
the Hitchcock Mortuary Saturday afternoon to pay final respects to the
memory of their long-time friend and neighbor, and to hear
Rev. William Brown, who had come from Fort Morgan to conduct the
funeral service, praise her life so richly lived in high ideals
and devotion to family and friends. Burial was in Grandview cemetery.
The following obituary was read at the funeral service:
Kathryn Ann Flynn, the daughter of John and Margaret Flynn was
born December 17, 1867, near Durand, Illinois, where she spent her
girlhood. In 1888 she came to Yuma County. She was united in
marriage with William A. Sisson, son of a pioneer physician
of this locality, on December 2, 1891. Mr. and Mrs. Sisson
established a home on land which they homesteaded six and a half
miles west of Wray, where they have lived fifty one years.
To this union two children were born,
Mrs. Harald Bettex of Wray, and Captain D. E. Sisson,
now serving in the United States Army Dental Corps,
at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
There is one grandson. Earl M. Sisson, a student at Texas
Agricultural and Mechanical College, College Station, Texas.
Mrs. Sisson is also survived by two sisters,
Mrs. Ella Meeks of Rockford, Illinois,
and Mrs. Emma Shapardson of Shirland, Illinois,
and by two brothers, Will Flynn of Rockford, Illinois,
and James Flynn of Owens, Wisconsin. There are also several
nephews and nieces, among whom is Mrs. James Karas of south
of Wray. Mrs. Sisson had been confined to her bed for several
years.
For the past months she had been a patient at the Wray
Hospital. Through all her illness and suffering,
she kept her interest in her home, in her family, and in her
friends. Mrs. Sisson was a devoted wife, mother and
grandmother. The Sisson home was one where relatives,
neighbors, and friends loved to come because of the sincere,
cheerful hospitality found there. Often it was styled
"the house by the side of the road".
Mrs. Sisson was a woman of high ideals.
She possessed enjoyment of life, the country which she
and her husband have helped develop, flowers, music,
nature and above all, her friends. Her ready wit and
humor were a source of delight to her friends.
The memory of her smile, of her originality of thought
and expression, and her gracious personality remains as
a cherished gift to her friends and to the members
of her family."

He expects to be absent about twenty days."
1908 Wray, Colorado "Clarence Goodwin and family moved into their new
in the west part of town the latter part of last week. Mr. Goodwin is having a barn
erected on his lots."
July 1909 "Mrs. Clarence Goodwin and children departed Wednesday for
their home in Minnesota. They were accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. James Karnes,
who is in very poor health."
Clarence is living alone in 1910 Yuma County, married 31 years, 56, born in Minnesota.
He's in the 1910 census in Yellow Medicine County, too, 48, with Mary A. 48, married 27 years. Mary, born in Illinois, has five kids, all living. Margaret 13 and Leora 8 are born in Minnesota.
"Clarence GOODWIN, whose wife is Mary E. Goodwin (married name) who was living in Yellow Medicine, MN on September 14, 1917 who executed a Deed of Trust for sale of property to William Earl GOOD and Emma L. GOOD for land in Wray, CO."
All four are in Yellow Medicine County in 1920.

In 1940 Minneapolis, Mary is widowed, 78, living with daughter Margaret Stoss 42 born in Minnesota. Mary was in Benton County, Minnesota in 1935.
Oscar V. Stoss is 39, born in Pennsylvania.
Margaret Katherine Goodwin was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota on
November 5, 1896, dying as Stoss on April 7, 1991.
BESSIE ROBERTA
Wray, Colorado "Word has been received here of the marriage
of Bessie Goodwin and Willie Tuttle, at Benkelman, Friday,
September 16, 1910. The ceremony wns performed by H. Meyer,
of the German Lutheran church. The wedding comes as quite a surprise to
the many friends of Miss Goodwin, who, however, wish her much happiness
in her matrimonial venture. Mr. Tuttle is somewhat of a stranger here,
but is to be congratulated on his choice of a wife."

March 1914 "Mr. and Mrs. Ray Goodwin left the first of the week for Minnesota where they will make their home in the future."
Raymond proved up two quarters in sections 13 and 14, 2N 44W in 1916.
January 1936 "Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin of Wisconsin came to Wray to spend
Christmas with Mrs. Goodwin's father, Will Jordan, and with her sister, Miss Edith Jordan. They plan to return to their home this coming Saturday."
"Mr. and Mrs. Clark Jordan and Erma had as guests on Christmas day, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Goodwin, Grandma Goodwin of Wausaw, Wise.' Miss Edith Jordan, Will Jordan and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Price and Howard."
April 1938 "Mr. and Mrs. Ray Goodwin of Wausau, Wis., were supper guests Tuesday evening at Will Sisson's."
March 31, 1938 "William Edward Jordan the youngest son
of Daniel and Carolyn Jordan, was born February 19, 1861, near Beardstown, I11inois,
and departed from this life March 26, 1938 at the age of 77 years,
1 month and 7 days.
He grew to manhood in the state of Illinois, later the family moving to
Jasper county, Missouri where he met and married Sophia Brenneman on
Sept. 21, 1884. Mr. and Mrs. Jordan moved to a government claim near Seibert,
Colo., in 1886, where they resided a short time, but soon returned to
Yuma County where they resided until their deaths.
To this union four children were born, Leonard F. who passed away in 1898,
Florence G. Goodwin of Wausau, Wisconsin, Clark J. Jordan and
Edith M. Jordan of Wray.
William Jordan was a kind, loving father, a good neighbor and won
for himself a host of friends, who will miss his cheerful presence among them.
Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his wife, who departed this life on
Oct. 5, 1921. Of the Jordan family to whom William Jordan belonged
one brother remains, Daniel of Burns, Oregon.
Three brothers and four sisters have passed to their reward.
He leaves to mourn his departure, three children,
Mrs. Raymond C. Goodwin of Wausau, Wisconsin;
Clark J., and Edith M. Jordan of Wray, Colo. 8 grand-children and
4 great grand children, besides many nephews and nieces, other relatives and a host of friends."

1953 "Miss Edith Jordan of Olympia, Wash., who had visited her cousins, Mrs. Doris Hisington and Mrs. Jay Prentice, and friend 3 for two weeks, left Tuesday morning with Mrs. Hisington on a trip through the Black Hills and to Wisconsin where her sister, Mrs. Raymond Goodwin, resides."

His parents were very poor and felt they could not afford to raise him. He had been a befriended by my great grandmother Mary Ann Prinz Briggs Karns, so one day he came to her house with a small bundle of clothing under his arms and said "my Mom says I can be your son from now on". My greatgrandmother raised him as her own son, he was never legally adopted but used the Karns name.

"James Arthur Karns was born June 23, 1881, in Republic County, Kansas.
He came to Colorado at an early age with his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Karns.
He was married to Lula M. Goodwin on November 23, 1907.
They resided on the Karns homestead near Wray until 1920 when he moved to his own farm
ten miles south of Wray. He farmed there until 1939 when, due to failing health,
he moved to a small farm near Goodrich. After the death of their son, Donald, in 1940,
Mr. and Mrs. Karns returned for a short time to the farm on the flats. In 1944 they sold the
farm and moved to their home near Fort Morgan. They resided there until May, 1955,
when ill health forced them to move to Orchard to be nearer their daughter, Mary.
Mr. Karns continued his residence there until Jan. 4, 1959, when a broken hip caused him to
enter Colorado General hospital in Denver.
He died at the hospital on April 9, 1959. Mr. and Mrs. Karns celebrated their
golden wedding day on Nov. 23. 1957.
Surviving him are his wife, Lula M. Karns; two daughters, Leora M. Gibson and Mary Mayer;
one granddaughter, Margaret Gibson, whom they have raised.
The funeral services were held Monday, April 13, from St. Andrew’s Catholic church in Wray,
with burial in Grandview cemetery.
Out of town relatives who were here to attend the rites included:
two sisters of Mr. Karns, Mrs. Ben Dzuik of St. Cloud, Minn.,
and Mrs. Bessie Hoefel of Princeton, Minn.; a nephew, Vincent Dzuik of Princeton;
a sister-in-law and niece, Mrs. Florence Jordan Goodwin and
Mrs. Kathryn Jones of Wausaw, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mayer of Denver,
and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Mayer of Fort Morgan. "

The former Lula M. Goodwin was born December 21, 1881, in Durand, I11.
She was married to Mr. Karns on November 23, 1907. The couple lived in this community until
1941, when they moved to a farm near Fort Morgan. Four years ago they moved into Orchard.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Mayer of Orchard and Mrs. Leora Gibson of Greeley;
three sisters; Mrs. Bessie Hoefel and Mrs. Leora Dzuik, both of Princeton, Minn.,
and Mrs. Margaret Stoss of Harris, Minn., and one granddaughter."
August 4, 1958 Wausau, Wisconsin " Raymond C. Goodwin, 71, Woodruff, died here this morning
at 8:15 o'clock in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Russell Jones, 203 S. Fifth Ave.
He had been living here the past four months. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon
at 1:30 o'clock in the Helke Funeral Home, with the Rev. W. H. Ortwein, pastor
of St. Paul's Evangelical Church, officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
The body will be in the funeral home from tomorrow evening at 7 o'clock until the time of the rites.
A native of Durand, Ill., Mr. Goodwin was born May 27, 1887, the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Goodwin. He was married June 22, 1908, in Wray, Colo., to Miss Florence Jordan,
who survives. He and his wife observed their gold wedding anniversary this year. Surviving,
besides the widow and Mrs. Jones, are three other daughters, Mrs. Leila Brandenburg, Brokaw,
Mrs. Lyle Jones, 1206 N. Ninth Ave., and Mrs. Luella Perner, 311 Weston Ave.;
two sons, Lloyd Goodwin, Shelton, Wash., and Everett Goodwin, 802 N. Second Ave.;
four sisters, Mrs. Lulla Karns, Orchard, Colo., Mrs. Bessie Hoefel, Princeton, Minn.,
Mrs. Margaret Stoss, Harris, Minn., and Mrs. Leora Dziuk, Princeton;
20 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
A son, Harry Goodwin, was killed in Germany during World War II."

Adoring great grandchildren are Hannah, Matthew and Sam Meyer, Grace Jones, Shiloh Lemke, Sean, Millie, Kira Lemke, Nora Lemke, Innis and Adaryn Grace. Floy was preceeded in death by her sisters, Leila (Grover) Brandenburg, Catherine (Russell) Jones, Luella (Dennis) Perner; and brothers, Lloyd (Ruth) Goodwin, Everett (Margaret) Goodwin, and Harry Goodwin.
Floy Jones was born July 30, 1916 at home in Clarkfield, MN. When she was a child, the Goodwin family moved to Wausau and the family operated a granite quarry. Floy attended Wausau Senior High where she excelled on the swim team. Floy married Lyle Jones Sr. on August 29, 1940. She worked at the S.S. Kresge Store on the 400 block of downtown Wausau for 36-years. She was a store supervisor, advertising manager, and trained the new assistant managers. Floy and Lyle were Charter Members of St. Annes Parish.
The motto that Floy lived by was: "Help anyone that you can as you walk through life." Whenever she could, Floy was happy to lend that helping hand or an empathic ear to anyone in need, whether it was working at Kresges, being a Girl Scout leader and faithful pie maker for Fish Fries at St. Annes, a volunteer driver for St. Michael's School field trips, or a resident at Mt. View nursing home.
Floy was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, kayaking until she was 92, and watching her grandkids play sports. Rain or shine "Grandma Jones" was there to cheer on the team. Floy was especially delighted by any opportunity to partake in the water exercise program at NCHC or play a friendly game of Yahtzee or cards. She often won, but made you feel good about losing.
Floy was able to bring happiness and a smile to any situation. She enjoyed playing practical jokes all throughout her life. She will be remembered by her quick wit and sense of humor but most of all her love of life.
When asked recently about words of advice she'd give her grandchildren. Floy shared, "Be kind to one another."
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 700 W. Bridge St., Wausau.. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau, and again at the Church on Thursday from 9:30 until the time of Mass. Interment will be at Restlawn Cemetery.
EVERETT
In 1940 Everett is a draftsman, 26, married to Margaret 25, with Patricia 3.
Margaret daughter of Henry Lowenstein, born July 22, 1914, died in Oshkosh on Oct 15, 2008.
She's buried in Wausau # 30846930.
"Survivors include her son, Everett L. (Santha) Goodwin, Oshkosh; daughters, Patricia L. (David) Jensen, Woodbury, Minn., and Jill Ann Lowenstein-Goodwin, Pompano, Fla.; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor (Gerald) Rhyner, Wausau; and many more nieces and nephews."
Everett died in Marathon County April 19, 1979.
CATHERINE
Catherine Jones, 72, 1013 N. Fourth Ave., Wausau, died Thursday,
Nov. 19, 1987 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
The former Catherine Goodwin was born in Clarksville, Minn., Aug. 3, 1915,
daughter of Florence Goodwin, Wausau, and the late Raymond Goodwin.
On Oct. 12, 1935, in Wausau, she married Russell C. Jones.
He died April 24, 1984. She was a past president of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Burns Post 388 Auxiliary, the VFW 7th District Auxiliary
and the former Sunnyvale Auxiliary.
Survivors, beside her mother, include a daughter,
Mrs. Reinhold (Kathleen) Engman, Dallas, Texas; five sons,
Charles R., Chattanooga, Tenn., the Rev. Clayton L. Jones and Dennis, both
of Milwaukee, and Douglas and Clair, both of Wausau;
a brother, Lloyd Goodwin, Shelton, Wash.;
three sisters, Mrs. Leila Brandenburg, Aubrey, Texas,
and Mrs. Floy Jones and Mrs. Luella Perner, both of Wausau;
19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Harry and Everett, died earlier.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Wausau Bible Chiurch.
The Rev. A.C. Abrahanison, will officiate.
Burial will in in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. "
"Our beloved Navy Veteran Clair G. Jones passed away peacefully after a gradual decline in health at Medical City of Lewisville on December 27, 2018.
He was surrounded by loving family, friends, and caregivers during the last days of his life. Clair was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, on January 17, 1941, but has resided with his loving sister in Lewisville, Texas since 1992. He was one of six children born to Russell and Catherine Jones and will forever be remembered and survived by his brothers: Charlie Jones, Clayton Jones, Douglas Jones, and Dennis Jones; by his sister, Kathleen Engman; his children: Steven Jones, Kristina (Rob) Barbier, Russell (Erma Fliehs) Jones, Jayson (Karla) Jones, and Genese (Todd Kreger) Jones; his grandchildren: Jessika, Steven, Kelly, Laisey, Chad, Jordan, Amber, Shauna, Jake, Cassi and Megan; and his great grandchildren; Owen, Audra, Annelise, Molly Maryah, Sam Jr., Parker, Jack, Destiny and Naleea. He was adored by many nieces, Nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Clair was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Jones and Catherine Goodwin-Jones, and by his beloved grandson, Spencer Barbier. Clair was a Master Plumber and a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He touched the lives of so many with his contagious smile and loving personality. He will be greatly missed but, will always remain in our hearts and fondest memories.
The family will receive friends at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, Friday, January 4, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 AM. The funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Clair will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date."
