John M. Pickett, Wray
John, per one tree, was born October 1832 in Spafford, Onondaga County, New York, dying November 30, 1912 in Alameda County, California.

In 1850 Lafayette County, Wisconsin, John is 17, with Hiram 41 and Harriett 38. Nelson is 20, John 17, Louisa 15, Charles 14, Augustine 11, and Philip 9.

John Pickett and Emily S. Wyman married on April 22, 1852 in Lafayette County, WIsconsin.

In 1860 Olmsted County, Minnesota, John Picket is a carpenter, 27, born in New York, with Emily 28 born in Maine, Adelia 7 in Wisconsin, Byron 6, Hiram 3, and De Witt 2 born in Minnesota.
(Adelia was a servant in the Babcock family in 1870, married James Anson Babcock, and they're in Stephenson County, Illinois in 1880 - with two sons - she probably died therea about 1882.)

In 1880 Green County, Wisconsin, Emily Pickett 49 born in Maine is widowed, living with Amos Sylvester and Loraine, both 70. Amos was born in New York, Loraine in Connecticut.

Emily S. (Wyman) Pickett 1830-1898 is buried in Lafayette County, Wisconsin # 74806671.

In 1894 John H. (could be M.) proved up on 160 acres in sections 19, 2N 43W and 24, 2N 44W - about two miles north of Wray.

John was in San Benito California in 1900, married five years to Mary.
In 1910 Napa County, he's widowed, 76, with daughter Belle Hunt 46, born in Minnesota. Manning M. Hunt is 55, born in Indiana. Clarence E. Hunt 19 was born in Colorado, Florence E. 17 in Nebraska, Edith E. 9 in California, and VIctor M. 1 in Colorado.
John M. Pickett, age 79, died in Alameda County, California on November 30, 1912.

Bell Pickett was in Lafayette County, Wisconsin in 1880, 16, living with uncle Franklin G. Wyman 44 and Loucucia 36.

Belle Pickett, 25, married M.M. Hunt on June 27, 1889 in Wray.
Clarence E. Hunt was born December 21, 1890 in Salida Colorado.
Salida Colorado, December 30, 1890 " Born - To Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Hunt on Saturday last a bright boy baby."

April 29, 1974 Salida Colorado.

In 1916 Wray, B.D. Prentice sued John H. Pickett, B. M. Webster, Lois J. Dowe, Samuel F. Kelley, and Edward Hitchings regarding that land.
John is not mentioned in the on-line Wray newspapers, so he didn't stay long.

Because John's claim was near Charles' in both time and distance, he's likely a brother.
Adelia Pickett, daughter of John and Emily, married Anson Babock on December 2, 1870 in Wisconsin.

Dewitt M. Pickett and Maria B. Lake had Hiram Picket on August 17, 1877 in Easton, Adams County, Wisconsin.

Emily Pickett, 49 is in Green County, Wisconsin in 1880, widowed, a housekeeper for the Amos and Lorraine Sylvester family, both 70.

Emily S. (Wyman) Pickett 1830-1898 is buried in Lafayette County # 74806671,. "Wife of J. H. Pickett".


In 1896 Denver John H. Pickett is a laborer at the Excelsior Stables, living at 2128 California.
William Byron Pickett 1856-1933 is buried in Green County, WIsconsin # 127678099.
