Tandy, per one tree was the son of Elias Vernoy 1847-1907 and Christina Anna Morehead.

Per FindaGrave # 121536369, Elias 1847-1907 is buried in Stanton County, Nebraska "The parents of Elias were Alfred and Mary Jane Carr Vernoy.
Eli married Christina Anna Morehead 1848-1914 on November 22, 1868 in Warren Co., Illinois and later divorced.

Christina Anna 1848-1914, per # 121539109 "Christina Anna Morehead's parents were Forgustus 1816- and Christina Endicott Morehead 1819-1897. She married Elias Vernoy on Nov 22 1868 in Warren Co., Illinois. She married a second time to James P. Morehead. She is buried in Mayes County, Oklahoma."

Tandy C. Vernoy, born March 29, 1872 in Illinois, mother Moorehead, died in Riverside County September 6, 1961.

Rev. John Althouse 1791-1871 is buried in Henry County, Missouri, # 45709485.

In 1880 Clinton County, Missouri, Fredric Smith is 49, Catherine C. 38, Nelly 7, Allen 5, NORA 3, and James nine months.
George Althouse, probably Catherine's brother, is with them, 32, born in New York.

Katie Smith, wife of Fred, Sept 4, 1842-January 29, 1887 is buried in Clinton County # 16220448. On the same stone is John Fred Smith - October 27, 1830-December 18, 1909 # 16220532.

TANDY AND NORA

Tandy, born 1872 in Henderson County, Illinois, died Sept 1961 in Riverside County, California, buried there # 67408885.
"Tandy Clyde Vernoy married Nora Mae Smith on 30 Jan 1895 in Clinton County, Missouri. She was under 18, but had the consent of Fred Smith, her father.
Both were from Clinton County.

Their children are: Osta Lee, Loren Frederick, Kenneth Clyde, Maude Beatrice, Floyde Allen, Carl Delmont."

In 1900 Clinton County, Missouri, Tandy Vernoy has no occupation, born March 1872 in Illinois, married five years to Nora M. Sept 1877 Missouri. Austin L. March 1896 and Lorne June 1899 were born in Missouri. They're with Frederick Smith Oct 1830 in Germany, immigrating in 1852, widowed.

In 1910 Yuma County, Tandy is 38, born in Illinois, married 15 years to Nora 32, born in Missouri. Osta L. 14 was born in Missouri, Lorne 10 in Illinois, Kenneth C. 5 in Missouri, and Maud B. 2 in Nebraska.

Tandy claimed 320 acres in sections 27, 33, and 34, 2N 42W in 1916. His witnesses were Henry A. Long, Robert J. Porter, Robert F. Thompson, and Edd G. Wade, all of Laird.

April 1913 "P. C. Vernoy, a homesteader living several miles north of Laird was a Wray caller the latter part of last week."

May 1913 "Miss Maude Smith, who has been waiting tables at the Opera House Cafe for several months, went down to Laird Wednesday for a couple of weeks visit with her sister."

November 1913 "Miss Maude Smith returned to Laird Friday where she makes her home with her brother, T. C. Vernoy of north of that place. Miss Smith had been visiting in Wray for about two weeks previous."

March 5, 1914 "Paul Houtman, who has been in the employ of Rogers and Mondell for the past two years, will farm the Vernoy land three miles north east of Laird the coming season. Paul is an industrious young fellow, his worst fault being that he insists on being a lonesome batch."

April 1914 "Miss Maud Smith, of Republican City is staying with the Thomas Ashton family east of town for a while, and reports that the W. C. Vernoy family who with Miss Smith moved to Republican City last fall, have all been sick during the winter, Mr. Vernoy continuing to be quite feeble."

October 1, 1914 Wray "W. C. Vernoy of Republican City, Neb., is having an enjoyable time visiting among old Laird friends, with headquarters with the family of Bob Porter. A few months ago Mr. Vernoy exchanged his homestead for a fine piece of town property in Republican City because of being unable to do hard farm work."

December 1915 Wray "Miss Maude Smith has gone to Republican City to visit her sister, Mrs. T. C. Vernoy."

In 1920 Harlan County, Nebraska, Tandy is a school janitor, 47, with Nora M. 42, Osta 23, Lorne 20, Kenneth 15, Maud 11, Floyd 8, and Carl 4.

In 1930 Riverside County, California, Tandy is a fruit farmer, 59, Nora 52, Kennety 25, Maud B. 22, Floyd A. 18, Carl D. 15, and grandson Robert L. 4.

In 1940 Riverside County, Tandy 68 and Nora 62 have no occupation. Maude B. is 32, a bank clerk. Son Floyd A. 29 born in Candad is a laborer, and Robert L. a grandson 14 born in California. Next household is Carl D. Vernoy, a laborer born in Nebraska, married but no spouse.

Osta Lee Vernoy 1896-1976 is buried in Riverside County, # 67408884.
"According to the "Winds of Time-The Vernoy Family in the New World", Osta Lee was born March 9 1896. He was the son of Tandy Clyde Vernoy and Nora Mae Smith. He married in 1924 to Lillian Nye but later divorced. Their child is Robert Lee Vernoy ("

Kenneth Clyde Vernoy 1904-1995 is buried in Whittier # 153930008.

Carl D. Vernoy 1915-1989 is buried in Baton Rouge, Louisiana # 6195064, with Evie Jordon Mernoy 1909-1970.

"Virgil Lee Vernoy, 80, passed away April 26, 2015 at his home after a long illness. Born in Hamilton, MO, Virgil spent most of his life in California. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps., was honorably discharged in 1957, and became a mechanic with Ameron Pipe in Southgate, retiring after thirty years. With his wife, Yvonne, he moved from Anaheim to Phelan in 1998. Virgil enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling, especially to Hawaii and Alaska, as well as visiting various states for Vernoy Family Reunions every two years. His favorite hobby was making custom wind chimes for family and friends. Virgil's father, Roy Vernoy, preceded him in death in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his mother, Maxine Vernoy of Anaheim, CA; sisters, Dorothy Norris of Fort Smith, AR, Leola Bybee of Anaheim, CA, Joyce Markovic (Derek) of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Eldon Jewell of MN; his three children, Dan Vernoy (Therese) of Woodland Hills, CA, Cindy Paro (Sonny) of Roswell, NM and David Vernoy (Rose) of Las Vegas, NV; his four step-children, Catherine Townsend of Anaheim, CA, Vincent Cameron (Debbie) of Menifee, CA, Curtis Cameron of Highland, CA and Cheryl Ollar (Mike) of Phelan, CA. Virgil also leaves 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren along with many relatives and friends. He was loved by all and will be missed."
