In 1880 Clinton County, Missouri, Fredric Smith is 49, Catherine C. 38, Nelly 7, Allen 5, Nora 3, and James nine months.
George Althouse, probably Catherine's brother, is with them, 32, born in New York.

Katie Smith, wife of Fred, Sept 4, 1842-January 29, 1887 is buried in Clinton County # 16220448. On the same stone is John Fred Smith - October 27, 1830-December 18, 1909 # 16220532.

"Tandy Clyde Vernoy married Nora Mae Smith on 30 Jan 1895 in Clinton County, Missouri.


Maude Smith was in Clinton County, Missouri in 1900, born August 1881 in Missouri, niece of John 69 and Mary L. Althouse 65.

Notico is hereby given that Maud B. Smith, of Laird. Colorado, who, on October 5, 1907, made Homestead Application No. 58111, for Lots 2-3-1 Section 31, Township 2 North Range 42W and Lot 1, Section 3, Township 1 N. Range 42W., 6th Principal Meridian, has filed notice of intention to make Final Commutation Proof to establish claim to the land above described, before County Judg, at Wray, Colorado, on the 20th day of June 1910. Claimant names as witnesses: Tandy C. Vernoy, Robert S. Pike, and Edd. G. Wade all of Laird, Colorado, and Martin V. Perkins of Sanborn, Nebraska.

December 1911 Wray, Colorado "Miss Maud Smith returned to her home northeast of Laird Saturday night after working a week for Mrs. Chas. Bullard of this place."

Laird items February 1912 "Miss Maud Smith returned Tuesday for a few days visit with her sister, Mrs. Vernoy."

November 1912 " Miss Maud Smith of Lnlrd came up Saturday to visit Miss Ellen Lepper and to attend the party that was given that evenlng by Miss Tegner."

August 15, 1912 Laird items in the Wray Gazette "Maude Smith visited Friday night at the Prentice home."

December 1912 "Miss Maude Smith came up from Laird Sunday and visited over night with her friend, Miss Clara Tegner."


May 1913 "Miss Maude Smith, who has been waiting tables at the Opera House Cafe for several months, went down to Laird Wednesday for a couple of weeks visit with her sister."

December 1913 "Miss Maude Smith came up from her home north of Laird Saturday and has accepted a position as clerk in the variety store and bakery which is owned by Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Prouse."

November 1913 "Miss Maude Smith returned to Laird Friday where she makes her home with her brother, T. C. Vernoy of north of that place. Miss Smith had been visiting in Wray for about two weeks previous."


April 1914 "Miss Maud Smith, of Republican City is staying with the Thomas Ashton family east of town for a while, and reports that the W. C. Vernoy family who with Miss Smith moved to Republican City last fall, have all been sick during the winter, Mr. Vernoy continuing to be quite feeble."

December 1915 Wray "Miss Maude Smith has gone to Republican City to visit her sister, Mrs. T. C. Vernoy."

In 1916 Kansas City, Missouri, Maude B. Smith is a saleslady for F.W. Woolworth Co., living at 1019 E 14th.
There are three "Maud Smith" listings, one a maid, and two are waitresses.

In 1918 Maude B. Smith is a domestic, living at 1420 Virginia Avenue. Another Maude, also at 1420 Virginia, is a waitress for J.W> Chaney.

July 10, 1919 Wray "Miss Maude B. Smith of Kansas City, Mo., is in Wray for a visit with her friend, Miss Clara Tegner. The two are plannng a sight-seeing trip to the mountains."

Maude Beatrice Smith, born August 31, 1881, married Isaac Punneo, and died in 1942.

He was in Fulton County, Illinois in 1870, one year old, with Charles "Perno" 45 and Mary 42 and eight siblings.


Charles is buried in Fulton County 1824-1907 # 28667669. , with Mary Jane 1827-1904.

Isaac B. Punneo and Maud B. Smith married in Denver on July 16, 1922.

In 1900 Stafford County, Virginia, Isaac is farming, born October 1868, married seven years to Bell Feb 1877, both born in Illinois. Hugh was born March 1874, Edith January 1897 and Hallis March 1899, all in Illinois.

Isaac's first wife, Belle (Arnold) Punneo 1878-1906 is buried in Douglas County, Illinois # 47526216.

Isaac was in Denver in 1920, widowed, 52, born in Illinois, a laborer in a furniture store. Daughter Edith 22 was born in Illinois, son Randal 13 in Illinois, and son Hollis 21 born in Illinois married to Pearl 22 born in Ohio.

Hallie Punneo had married Pearl K. Riedesel on December 31, 1919 in Denver.
Edith married Oliver Riedesel on March 31, 1920 in Denver.
FindaGrave #79304049 has her maiden name as DOBBS, buried in Laramie Wyoming with Oliver.

Isaac's son Hugh 1894-1954 is buried in Denver # 142393634.

In 1924 John B. Punneo is an upholsterer in Denver, with Maude at 2320 28th Avenue.
In 1925 Denver, Isaac B. Punneo and Maud B. are at 2249 S. Galapago.

In 1930 they're farming in DeKalb County, Missouri, Isaac 61 born in Illinois, with Maude B. 48 Missouri.

In 1940 they're farming in Osage County, Kansas, Isaac 71, Maude 58.

Ottawa Kansas, February 21, 1955.
"Mrs. Maude B. Punneo died at her home in Quenemo Saturday at the age of 73. After suffering a stroke Feb. 11, she was critically ill until her death. She had lived in Quenemo seven years, moving from Rosemont. Mrs. Punneo is survived by her husband, Isaac B. Punneo, of the home; two step-sons, Hal of Denver, and Randal of Quenemo; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral srvices will be held tomorrow at 2 p. m. in the Quenemo Federated church with Rev. Hagerl of Lyndon and Rev. Wheaton of Quenemo officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Wi1liamsburg. The body was taken to the Shaffer Mortuary at Lyndon."

April 1955 "Mr. and Mrs. Randel Punneo, who have been here with his father since Mrs. Punneo's death several weeks ago, left Saturday morning for California where they expect to make their home."
