Earl Craw, sister Ruth (Craw) Dodson

Earl Craw is in 1900 Hitchcock County, Nebraska, born January 1886 in Nebraska, with Epaphis June 1854 and Elmira May 1862, both born in New York. Laura 18 is teaching school, Elmira 16 both born in New York. Ida is 11, Alma 9, Ruth 7, and Vera 1, all five born in Nebraska.

E. D. Craw had 320 acres in sections 18, 19 and 30, 1N 35W, Hitchcock County, Nebraska in 1917.
That's Union Township, south of Stratton.

Earl proved up a quarter in 29, 2N 42W in 1915.

He had filed an earlier claim, and that was contested in 1909 by George W. Loy, alleging Eaarl did no live on the land and had abandoned it.

Earl is a real estate agent in 1920 Hitchcock County, 33, with widowed mother Almira 57.
Vera is 21, teaching school, Winona 19, Paul E. 14, and John 10. Ruth Dodson is 26, widowed, with her daughter Iola six months old.

Earl registered for WWII in Stratton, with Perry Taunton of Stratton as his reference. He said he was working for himself.
Perry Taunton was in Hitchcock County in 1930, 70, widowed, iwth daughters Caroline B. 26 and Marjorie L. 17, all born in Iowa.


Earl 1886-1953 is buried in Stratton, Nebraska # 90915232.
The cemetery listing says his spouse was Carolyn Taunton.
Caroline Bell Taunton was born April 20, 1903 in Albia, Monroe County Iowa to Perry Taunton and Lizzie Schwartz.

One tree said that Caroline died about 1972.

RUTH

Ruth H. Craw, 23, had married Irl R. Dodson on January 18, 1917 in Yuma County.
"Irl R. Dodson and Ruth H. Craw, both parties of Stratton, Nebraska, were granted license to marry Thursday, January 18. The ceremony was performed that day by Rev. George W. Light of Wray."

Irl Ralston Dodson 1892-1918 is buried in Stratton, Hitchcock County # 11636008.

In 1930 Hitchcock County, ruth is 37, married to Elmer B. Ransom, 33, with his adopted daughter Irle C. 10, Darwin 1, and Hazel A. one month.
Ruth Hazel Ransom, 1893-1971 # 90915039, is buried in Stratton.

Irla C. Sutton 1919-2012 is buried in Fort Logan # 94177775.
"Irla C. Sutton, 93, died July 17, 2012 in Arvada, Colorado. Irla was born June 13, 1919, in Stratton, Nebraska, to Irl Dodson and Ruth Ransom.
Her father died shortly before her birth and she was later adopted by Elmer Ranson when he married her mother. She was raised in Stratton where she later taught in a one-room school house. On June 13, 1940, she married Donald I. Sutton, Sr. They moved to Colorado after he was discharged from the Army Air Corps.
Irla was preceded in death by: son, Donald I. "Don" Sutton, Jr.
Survivors are: husband, Donald I. "Don" Sutton, Sr.; daughter, RuthAnn Wagner; son, James B. Sutton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private Inurnment was in the Fort Logan National Cemebery, Denver, Colorado.

His sister Vera Henrietta Ratliff 1898-1985 is also buried in Stratton # 90915476.

Winona Craw, 24, born at Stratton to Epiphro De Breo Craw and Elmira Morrow, married Ragan Ratcliff on November 19, 1923 in Council BLuffs, Iowa.
They divorced in Denver on December 16, 1938.
They had Ragan Devereaux Ratcliff in Omaha on September 14, 1931, who died in Indianapolis on April 30, 2002.
In 1940 young Ragan 8 and Charmeen Ratcliff 10 are living with their aunt Ida M. Wendland 51 and her husband Arthur F. in Omaha.
Winona R. Ratcliff dying November 26, 1962 is buried in Omaha, per # 152192136.
Ida Charmaine Swanson 1929-1983 is buried in Omaha # 155486418.

Laura Craw Peters, born March 10, 1882 in New York, died February 14, 1956 in Los Angeles County, mother Mower, father Craw.
She had married William Albert Peters in Lawrence, South Dakota on May 14, 1919.
They're in Clark County, Nevada in 1930, where William 47 is a bookkeeper for a general store.

William Albert Peters is unemployed when registering for WWII in Pasadena, California. His reference was Mrs. O.K. Bosam of next door.

Almira (Craw) Henderson 1883-1946 is buried in Stratton # 901519, with Frank Edgar Henderson 1884-1952.

1909 " Alma Craw, of Max, Nebr., was a Wray visitor between trains Saturday ."

Alma J. (Craw) Randel 1890-1956 is buried in Indianola, Nebraska # 11999393, with Walton Randel 1888-1971 # 11999399.

1905 Wray "Mrs. Craw of Stratton, Nebraska, is in the city the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reidley. Mrs. Craw will be remembed here as Miss Miller."

Paul E. Craw, 21, married Laura Miller on November 7, 1926 in Laird, Colorado.
Laura J. Craw, age 104, of Stratton, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook..
She was born Aug. 19, 1907, to John A. and Louisa (Carlson) Miller at their farm home southeast of Stratton.
Laura attended country school and graduated from Stratton High School in 1925.
On Nov. 7, 1926, she married Paul Craw. The couple made their home in the Stratton area, raising their three boys there. They owned and operated Craw Implement Company (John Deere and Chrysler- Plymouth Dealership) in Stratton.
Laura spent hours taking care of her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed baking cherry pies and cinnamon rolls.
She attended the Christian Union Church and a garden club. She volunteered for many years at Grandview Senior Center in Stratton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; son, Arthur; grandson, Randy; five brothers, Carl, Gustaf, Oscar, David and Roy Miller; two sisters, Sophia Witherbee and Hattie Ruggles.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Anna Bell Craw of McCook, Nebraska; two sons, Paul R. "Bud" Craw and wife, Eve of Wichita, Kansas, Robert L. and wife, Sharon of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Grandview Senior Center in Stratton.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Stratton, from 9 -- 10 a.m.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton with Pastor Brian Fong officiating.

Paul Craw 1905-1972 is buried in Stratton 3 87520994, with Laura J. (Miller) Craw 1907-2012.

April 1915 " Mrs. Carpenter and son Fred of Kensington, Nebraska, arrived in Wray for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Ida Dodson, south of town." THIS IS A DIFFERENT DODSON - CHARLES DODSON FROM KANSAS.

1916 "Miss Inez Dodson is visiting her sister Mrs. Light. She accompanied her friend Miss Irene Harless home from Stratton."

This is Ada M., who's with George Light in 1910 Washington COunty, Kansas. He's a minister 26, born in Nebraska, married three years. Ada is 21, born in Nebraska, and they have Lyle M. 1 born in Kansas.
Ada 1889-1976 is buried in Wheat Ridge Colorado # 142298846, with George W. Light 1889-1976 # 142298833.

December 27, 1923 "Mr. Will Long of Yuma and Miss Nellie Dodson of Alvin were united in the holy bonds of wedlock last Saturday by Dr. D. A. Brown at the Brown home in this city."

Irl's brother Frank E. Dodson 1902-1940 is buried in Kirk, Colorado # 67354419.
