Ira K. and Daisy (Park) Bushong

There's a Charles Parke in 1900 Cloud County, Kansas, born May 1885 in Iowa, with Francis Parke 47 born in Indiana and Elizabeth 45 in New Jersey. Daisey 21, Dillie 19, Callie 18, Charles 15, and Melvin 10 were all born in Iowa.

Elizabeth 1855-1949 is buried in Cloud County # 77195317. On the same stone is Francis Park 1853-1940 # 77195352.

Daisy's delayed birth certificate said that she was born April 11, 1878 near Irving, Tama County, Iowa to Francis Park born in Park County Indiana and Eliabeth Collins of New Jersey.

In 1880 Cloud County, Kansas, Peter Bushong is farming, 44, born inOhio, with Elizabeth 35 Iowa. Mary M. is 12, Melville 7, and Ira K. 1, all three born in Iowa. Elizabeth's brother Caleb Elliott, 21 is a laborer.
Orilla Bushong, 17, daughter, is a house servant.
Next household includes a John 82 and Rachel 71 Bushong, with Jesse C. Stallings 33 and Matilda 29.

Peter Bushong 1836-1924 is buried in Miltonvale # 62839439.
"Rev. Peter Bushong, son of John and Rachael Bushong, was born near Bellefontaine, Ohio, March 5, 1836.
He died May 31st 1924, at the home of his son Peter Melvin Bushong.
Moved to Ohio with his parents [John and Rachael Bushong] in 1856. In 1879 he moved to Cloud County,Kansas.
Instrumental in organizing the Meredith Christian Church and served as deacon and pastor.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas Franklin Bushong, of Everest, Kansas, Peter Melvin Bushong, Manhattan, Kansas,and Ira K. Bushong Laird, Colorado. And one brother Samuel Bushong of Orange, California. and one sister Mrs. [Matilda] Jesse Stallings of Laird,Colorado.
Wives : Martha D White, Elizabeth Frances Elliott, Hannah Henshsaw.
Children, Mary, Peter, Ira, Orrilla, and Thomas Bushong."


Matilda Ann (Bushong) Stallings 1850-1930 is buried in Miltonvale # 77195883, with Jesse C. 1847-1924 # 77195867..

In 1900 Cloud County, Kansas, Ira K. Bushong is 21, living with his brother Mel P. 27 and his wife Lucy, son Rex D. 1.

In 1905 Cloud County, I.K. and Daisy Bushong are both 26, with Park, 3. <
Charles' sister Daisy Edna married Ira K. Bushong.
In 1910 Yuma County, Ira is 31, married nine years to Daisy E. 32, both born in Iowa. Park J. is 8, Van L. 4, both born in Kansas.

July 1923 Wray " Peter Bushong, a minister of the New Light church, who is here from Republican City, Kansas, visiting his son, Ira, northeast of town, was visiting his old friends, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Roe, of west of Wray, the first of the week."

October 15, 1914 Wray Rattler " Rev. S. P. Bushong of Manhattan, Kan., is visiting for a few weeks with his son and family in the hills. Father Bushong is 79 years of age, and until the present year has taken a pastorate in the Methodist church. We all like to hear his voice in a public assembly."

Ira K. Bushong proved up two quarters in section 35, 3N 43W in 1916.
That would be about two miles northwest of his brother-in-law Charles Park's claim.

In 1920 Ira, living on the south side of section 35, was farming 640 acres.

In 1920 Yuma County, Ira and Daisy are both 41, with Park 18, Van L. 14, and Vada A. 8.

September 7, 1922 "Grandpa Bushong arrived Saturday to visit awhile with his son Ira and family and his sister and brother-in law, Aunt Till and Uncle Jess Stallings."

September 1922 "Mr. and Mrs. Bushong and Avis Bushong were visiting the Holyoke fair on Wednesday of last week."

October 1923 "Ira Bushong went to Manhattan, Kansas, lsst week and visited a few days, and was accompanied home by his father on his return."

1924
In 1930 Yuma County, Ira and Daisy are still farming, married 22 years, with I. Park 28 divorced, 18, Van L. 24, and V. Avis 18.

Avis was teaching in in Yuma County in 1932.

She married Walter Henry O'Dell 1914-1935 buried in Wray # 62267064.

In 1940 Bonner County, Idaho, Park is ranching, single, born in Kanss, with Van, 34 in Kanss. Park ws in Bonner County in 1935, the others in Yuma County.
Viola said she was 33, born in Nebraska, Daisy and Ira both 61 with them.

Ira, 64, died in Newport, Washington July 18, 1943. He was the son of Peter Bushong and Francis Elizabeth Elliott. He's buried in Bonner County # 14133870.


Daisy died August 29, 1958 in Newport, Washington, and is buried in Bonner County, Idaho 1878-1959 # 14133865.

Vada A. Odell of "Uma" County, Colorado, married Charles H. Coates of Multnomah County Oregon on June 21, 1937 in Clark County, Washington.

Vada Avis (Bushong) (Odell) Coates 1911-1996 is buried in Skamania County, Washington # 2890156,
Charles H. Coates 1911-1986 is also buried there.

In the same Wind River cemetery is "Park Bushong Feb. 8, 1902 Aug 22, 1987 "

He married Wanda Justine Culbertson Harding b: 6 APR 1912 d: 21 AUG 1990
His first wife was Viola M. b: 2 SEP 1906 d: 24 MAY 1943

Viola M. Bushong born in Sidney, Nebraska September 2, 1906, dying May 24, 1943 is buried in Lamar, Colorado # 62303830.
She was in Kiowa County, Colorado in 1930, age 23, with divorced mother Eva A. Portrey 57. Eva Angeline (Andrews) Portrey 1873-1945 is buried in Bonner County # 19377227.

Van L. Bushong is in the Manhattan, Kansas city census of 1948.

Van married Wanda Harting on September 5, 1961 in Columbia County, Washington.

Van is buried in Dayton, 1906-1991 # 37903092, with Wanda J. (Culbertson) Bushong 1912-1990 # 37903093
