Joel Cyrus Ranney was born Feb 8, 1818 in Franklin County, Ohio, first married June 20, 1872 His parents were Joel Ranney and Elizabeth Mary Graham, per one history.
In 1875 Republic County, Kansas, J.C. Ranney is 29, born in Ohio, with N. J. Ranney 18 born in Illinois.
Abia Ellen Ranney 1876-1886 is buried in Cloud County # 126500493.
"Daughter of Joel Cyrus Ranney, who is the owner of her plot, and Nellie Powell. Abia was apparently named after her paternal aunt Abiah Ranney (1839-1879), an
unmarried sister of Joel who stayed behind in Ohio, Joel Ranney's native state.
According to the cemetery records, Abia was 10 when she died.
Abia was enumerated as "Ellen A. Ranney" in the 1880 census for Concordia,
Cloud County KS, age 4."

marrried 13 years to Nellie March 1856 Illinois. "Polly" July 1893 and Ray Nov 1895
were born in Kansas. Their daughter Edith Ranney March 1891 in Kansas is with them, single.

March 13, 1908 "Mrs. Nellie Barker and son, Ray, left last Monday night for Ames, Kansas
to visit with relatives there. They expect to return to Wray in the near future and make
their home on their homestead north of town."
Edith Josephine Ranney was born March 17, 1880 in Ames Kansas to Joel Cyrus Ranney and Nellie Powell - She married Malcolm Oron Bland.

November 22, 1917 "Mrs. Nellie Anderson, who was called here a short time
ago by the death
of her daughter, Mrs. M. O. Bland, left yesterday morning for her home in Norton, Kansas."
Nellie proved up 160 acres in sections 6 and 7, 2N 42W in 1919. Her son-in-law Malcolm O. Bland had proved up land in that section in 1916.

Jerry Zeigler, 32, married Helen Barker, 17 in Wray on November 16, 1910.
They had Halcain Clarke Zeigler on September 13, 1913 in Elk County, Pennsylvania. Helen was born in IKansas, Jery in Pennsylvania.
In 1920 Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, Jeremiah is a brick layer helper, 40, with Helen 26 born in Kansas, Halcian 6, William 4, Harry 2, and Oma eight months, all born in Pennsylvania.

In 1900 Nobles County, Minnesota, Wilber Eagleson, born July 1864,
married 12 years to Jane N. January 1869, both born in Illinois, have Irma May 1889, Inez March 1891, Ivan May 1893, and Irene E. August 1896, all four born in Nebraska.
February 5, 1909 Wray "Mrs. Jesse Smith is spending the week with her mother
, Mrs. Eagleson."
November 1914 "Another change in the business district of Wray took place Monday morning, where
Charles and Ray Hildreth exchanged the Opera House cafe for the boarding house owned by
W. H. Eagleson and which is located near the railroad track. After making the above exchange the
Hildreth brothers traded the boarding house to D. C. McGinnis for the McGinnis cottage in
south east Wray. The deal was made through Mr. McGinnis' son, Ben. Mr. and Mrs. Eagleson will be assisted
in the work of the cafe by their daughter, Mrs. Jesse Smith, and their son, Ivan, who will come
down from their farm near Eckley within a few weeks."
April 1915 "Ivan Eagleson will assist his uncle, Chas. Donavon this summer on the farm."
Ray Barker married Irene Eagleson on November 22, 1915 in Yuma County, Colorado.
February 1916 "W. H. Eagleson returned Saturday from Mascot Nebraska, where he had gone last
week to close a business deal. While in Mascot, Mr. Eagleson traded his land several miles south
of Wray for a general merchandise store there. Mrs. Eagleson who had accompanied her husband,
remained in Mascot. Upon his return to Wray, Mr. Eagleson completed all arrangements and he
and his daughter and son, May and Albert left Tuesday evening for their new home."
June 22, 1916 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barker left Friday evening for Wilcox, Neb.,
where they go for a visit with Mrs. Barker's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Eagleson."
In 1920 Arapahoe, Furnas County, Nebraska, Ray is a garage mechanic, 24, born in Kansas, with Irene E. 22 Nebraska. Albert R. 3, Opal E. 1, and Phillis one month iwere all born in Nebraska. Irene's brother Albert W. Eagleson 15 bonr in Minnesota is with them.

Leonard Eugene "Gene" Barker, 88, of Republican City died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Kensington Assisted Living Center in Hastings.
A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hutchins Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin with the Rev. Nancy Leonard officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery at Bloomington.
He was born Nov. 14, 1924, at Arapahoe to Ray and Esther Irene (Eagleson) Barker.
On March 14, 1946, he married Dorothy Huchtermann at Smith Center, Kan.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ronald of Somonauk, Ill., and William of Hastings;
sister, Lois Bobbitt of Apache Junction, Ariz.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. "
Former Franklin resident Darlene Faye (Barker) SaBell, 66, of Republican City died Saturday, Nov. 25, 1995, 7-1/2 miles southwest of Republican City in a single car accident.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Home chapel in Alma with the Rev. Glenn Saaman officiating. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The casket will be closed.
Mrs. SaBell was born April 28, 1929, to Ray and Esther Irene (Eagleson) Barker in McCook. She moved with her family to Franklin when she was a preschooler. She attended Franklin schools and graduated from Franklin High School in 1946. She lived in Oberlin, Kan., for a short time before moving to Denver. On Dec. 4, 1954, she married James Vincent SaBell in Denver. They lived in Denver until moving to Republican City in 1963. She owned the Dairy Villa Drive Inn until 1980. She then purchased and operated the Light House Supper Club with her daughter, Jami, until 1987. She then went to work at the Depot Restaurant in Alma. Her husband died April 9, 1984.
She was a member of the Republican City American Legion Post No. 361 Auxiliary.
Survivors are one daughter, Jami Hall of Republican City; two stepsons, Michael SaBell of Aurora, Colo., and Frederick SaBell of Denver; one stepdaughter, Nancy Crutchly of Denver; one brother, Eugene Barker of Republican City; and two sisters, Opal Johnson of Franklin and Lois Bobbitt of Apache Junction, Ariz.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Tami; two brothers; and one infant sister. "
