In 1885 Union County, Iowa, Ananias Whyte is widowed, 62, John 36, Mary 27. Next household is Daniel 29 and Grace 17, both married. Hanna 21 and Mariah 18, and Charles 12 are singe. Nex thousehold are Richard 35 and Annie 27.
1901 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lewis and children who have been visiting the Armstrong and Whyte families returned to their home at Creston, Ia., Monday. TEhey were well pleased with their visit here."
1917 "Mr. and Mrs. John Whyte and little son, Edgar, arrived in Wray Sunday and are visiting Mrs. Whyte's sister, Mrs. Harry Ramsey of west of Wray and Mrs. Cecil Hale of east of Wray. THey are from Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and expect to remain for a month or more.
1917 "Mrs. Mary Ament left Saturday evening for Creston Iowa, where she goes to visit her sister, Mrs. Willis, and then will go on to Princeton, Ilinois, wehre she will visit with relatives and friends."
1913 "The Mesdames Mary Ament and Annette White will leave this afternoon for a two months visit with friends and relatives in Princeton, Ill."
1910 "S.J. Lewis and wife, of Creston, Iowa, who have been visiting their cousins, Mrs. Mary Ament and John White, of West Wray, left for LaSalle, Colorado."
It appears that Thomas J. Ament born 1833 married Caroline/Carrie Chapter in Iowa, and in 1880 they have Elise 15, Minnie 13, Mary D. 10, and John H. 2. Caroline in 1895 Iowa is divorced, and is buried in Hamilton County, Iowa
Thomas Jefferson Ament 1833-1899 is buried in Peoria, Illinois # 69709601 "67 y/o widower, born in IL Died in the Peoria Co Hosp of malaria Lived in Logan twp had 1 sister in Peoria and 1 brother in Bloomington"
HANNAH
Hannah Whyte b 1863 Bureau County, IL - Iowa where married George Harvey Armstrong 13 Oct 1887 - 1888 to Wray, Yuma, CO "
1912 Wray "The misses Effie and Anna Armstrong were visiting their sister, Mrs. Fred Bowen of south-east of town over Sunday."
1922 Wray "Uncle John Whyte and Miss Effie Armstrong left the latter part of last week for a short vacation trip in the mountains."
DANIEL
Grace Helena Whyte is 26 in the 1895 Union County Iowa census.
Grace Epperson (William Heaton Epperson, Harrison, Elijah, Peter) was born in Heaton Point, Bureau County, Illinois 17 September 1868.(416)
She married Daniel Whyte 01 January 1885. Daniel was born 12 May 1860. Daniel died 06 April 1921 in Wray, Yuma County, Colorado, at 60 years of age.(419)
Grace Epperson and Daniel Whyte had the following children:
i. Fred O. Whyte was born 06 February 1886. Fred died 10 May 1889 at 3 years of age.(421)
ii. Forest Clyde Whyte was born 29 September 1887. - KILLED IN A FARM ACCIDENT SOUTH OF WRAY
iii. John C. Whyte was born 21 December 1888.
Moved to Wray with parents in 1901.
Married Mabel Grace Boyes January 23, 1910.
Harold B. (Hy) was born January 8,1915 in their house at 531 West 4th. .
iv. Mona Whyte was born 19 February 1894. Married Frank Boyes January 21, 1912, and had four sons - Cleon, stanley, Claude and Walter.
v. Emma Whyte was born 19 April 1899.
vi. Irene M. Whyte was born 14 November 1906. Married Reed.
In 1910 Yuma County, Daniel Whyte is 50, Grace 41, both born in Illinois. Mona 16 and Emma G. 11 were born in Iowa, and Irene M. 3 in Colorado.
Grace's brother visited in 1917 
In 1920 Wray, on Central Street, Daniel is 59, Grace 51, and Irene M. 13.
In 1930 Grace is single, 61, born in Illinois, father in Illinois, mother in Rhode Island.
Grace is widowed in 1940 Wray., living on Franklin Street.
Afton, Iowa "Friends here have received word of the death of John SHOULD BE DAN Whyte
of Wray, Colorado. He was buried April 8th at Wray.
The Whytes were old settlers in Dodge Township where they
owned and lived on the farm now owned by Ed Ruckman.
It was here that Dan grew to manhood, though born in Ilinois.
He was married to Grace Epperson, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Epperson,
who owned the adjoining farm, now owned by C.L. Perry.
They with their children moved to Colorado about twenty years ago and joined what has sometimes been called the Iowa Colony, which was made up of about forty-five families.
His parents, Mr. & Mrs. Annanias Whyte are buried in Greenlawn cemetery. Richard Whyte, a brother, and sisters, Marie and Hannah [Whyte] Armstrong. Another brother, William is buried in Wray, Colorado.
The only remaining members of the family, John and Mary, are living in Wray, where John is engaged in the Banking business.
John Whyte 1849-1928 is buried in Wray # 62678492.
