1959 "'The marriage of Miss Myrtle lea Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Harris of east of Greeley, and- Vernon Keith Mesner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan L. Hesmer of Goodrich, was solemnized Saturday evening at the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. R. Franklin Galloway performed the ceremony in which the bride's father gave her away before 125 guests. The bride's twin cousins, Kathy and Karen Harris, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Harris of Cheyenne, were candlelighters. Organist for the 7:30 o'clock wedding was Bob Asmus. Monte Otto was vocalist. He sang Walk Hand in Hand and The Wedding Prayer . Traditional articles of the bride's costume included a handkerchief borrowed from her grandmother Mrs. Rachel Harris of Greeley which was something old. Her lucky coin was a sixpence loaned by Mrs Joe Chapman. Mrs. Bob Goetzel, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Brides maids were Mrs. James Redman, aunt of the bride; Mrs. Ted Mes mer, sister-in-law of the groom and Miss Frances McConville close friend of the bride. Eddie Hikida, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hikida. Best man to the groom was his brother, Ted Mesmer. Ushers were David Mesmer of Goodrich, another brother of the groom, and Herby and Don Harris, mothers of the bride. . The bride' table was laid with a. heavy linen cloth, which was loaned by Mrs Goetzel. The cloth was made in Germany by Mr..Goetzel's late mother who loomed the thread and wove the material. The all white three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a bride and groom oiiiann was a gift from Mrs. Joe Chapman. Assisting with the reception were aunts of the groom, Mrs. Ivan Mesmer, who poured coffee, and Mrs. Margie Shuppe, who presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Louis Branlner completed cutting the cake. Helping with other details were Mrs. Mary von Trotha, Mrs. Virginia Mitchell of Spokane Wash., and Mrs. Arbe Redman aunts of the bride, and Mrs. Ho. Whisman. Guest book, S?p(by Mrs. Herby Harris, was signed by the groom's maternal grandmother from EC mond, .Kan., his paternal grandmother from Colorado Springs, and the following other members of his family: Mr. and Mrs. Lore Shuppe, Gary and Jane, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Newbold of Colorado Springs; Mrs. Anna White of Fort Morgan, great grandmother of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Ernes Markham and Bud and Mr. and Mrs. Lelahd Dwinell and daughter of Logan, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Ala Mesmer and Joyce of Fort Morgan and IJean Mesmer of Goodrich. Newbold, 89, of Edmond, died Saturday at the K.U. Medical Center, Kansas City, Kans., where he had been a patient for a week. Cutting - Eckhart Funeral Home announced funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Christian Church in Edmond. Burial will be at the Edmond Cemetery. The Rev. Norman Voss will officiate at the funeral services. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until 11 a.m., tomorrow and then will lie in state at the church until time for the funeral. Mr. Newbold was a retired farmer who was long active in church work at Edmond and lodge activity at Lenora. He was superintendent of the Sunday school at the Edmond Christian Church for 30 years. He was a member of the Lenora Masons and Lenora Order of Eastern Star. He was born Oct. 10, 1876, in Geneva, Nebr., son of L. A. and Eva Newbold. The family moved to Lincoln, Kans., when he was a boy, and he grew up and attended schools there. He was married May 27, 1928, at Wray, Colo., to Ruth Moore. They moved to a farm near Edmond in 1930, and lived on the farm until retiring and moving into Edmond in 1954. He is survived by his wife, one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Louise Newbold of Norton, a daughter and son-in-law Eva and Lee Jury of Lincoln, Nebr., two stepchildren, a step son and daughter-in-law, Leland and Pearl Dwinell of Hill City, and step daughter and step son-in-law, Letha and Ivan Mesmer of Ft. Morgan, Colo., 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several cousins. Mrs. Newbold is Edmond correspondent for The Telegram. 14 March 1966, .

----------------------------------------------------- Ruth Amelia Dwinell daughter of James Henry and Heneretta Cowman Moore was born November 29, 1984 on a farm north of Holbrook, Nebraska and passed away on February 23, 1979 at Ft. Morgan, Colorado at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 24 days. Ruth grew to womanhood on the family farm and attended the rural grade school in the Holbrook area. On December 7, 1910 at Holbrook, Ruth and George Claude Dwinell were married. Following their marriage they lived at Holbrook until 1912 when they moved to Simms, Montana where they homesteaded a farm until 1920 when they returned to Arapahoe. After the death of her husband, she later married William T. Newbold at Wray, Colorado iin 1928. They made their home in Alma, Nebraska then moved to Edmond in 1930. After the death of Mr. Newbold she later married Lester Dwinell on March 5, 1970. They made their home in Holbrook until 1973 when they moved to Arapahoe where she has since lived. She was a member of the Edmond Christian Church, the Lenora Chapter OES No. 296, and the United Methodist Church in Arapahoe. Survivors include: two sons and their wives, Leland and Pearl Dwinell, and Jack and Louise Newbold, all of Norton, Kansas; two daughters and their husbands Letha Pauline and Ivan Messmer, Ft. Morgan, Colorado, Eva Mae and Lee Jurey, Bennett, Nebraska. 14 grandchildren; 20 great_grandchildren; 2 great_great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, five brothers, four sisters and one grandson. Chas. Whomble married Audrey Wheeler October 1, 1924, recorded in Yuma County.
In 1909, Charles (Dade) and Pearl Whomble homesteaded 320 acres 17 miles south of Wray, in Yuma County. In 1917 the new cement house went up – a big two-story with gabled roof. They also added a brooding house, chicken house, hog shed, water house, garage, flower garden and lily pond!
In that part of the country, the Whomble farm was considered a "show-place." Dade and Pearl raised 6 children on the farm. The youngest of the kids, Helen Virginia (Peggy), married Troil Welton and moved to the farm in 1937. Troil and Peggy had two children before Peggy died in 1950. Troil remarried Nettiemay Gorbet and he and Nettiemay grew dry-land wheat and raised cattle on the farm until the mid 1980s.

The Lester M. Whomble 1903-1903 buried in Holbrook migh be their son # 116o39446.
In 1909 Frontier County, John had enrolled Goldie 14, Pearl 12 ,and Tommie 9 i nthe Cambridge school.

In 1910 Frontier County, Nebraska, John T. Whomble, 39, born in Iowa, and Nora B. 34, Indiana, have Goldie M. 15 Kansas, Pearl L. 13 Nebraska, and Tommy R. 9, Nebraska.

Pearl Whomble was the second child born to John T. and Nora B. (Mozingo) Whomble on January 18, 1897, near Holbrook, Nebraska. She passed away at Haigler, Nebraska, May 20, 1988.

When Pearl was 13 years old, the family loaded their belongings into a covered wagon and moved to a farm south of Wray, Colorado.

She was married to William Ernest Brown, April 23, 1916, at the family home. They purchased the Jacobson farm south of Haigler, where they lived until Ernest passed away in 1971. She then moved to the home in Haigler in which she lived until her death.

Ernest and Pearl were the parents of six children: Beulah Oster, Haigler; Eldon and Maxine Brown, Wellington, Colorado; Dulcie Johanns, Bay City, Oregon; Dorothy and Rodney White, Wray; Donnie and June Brown, Haigler; and Dallas and Laura Brown, Haigler.

Pearl was so proud of each one of her 21 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a loving, accepting person who was a friend of everyone, and a willing helper to anyone in need. She was "Mom" to her children's friends as they were growing up, and remained close to them until her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents. husband, two grandchildren. and one great-grandchild.

Choosing a natural death in home surrounding instead of using life support systems reflects the courage and faith of this wonderful pioneer lady. Services were held Tuesday, May 24, 1988, at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Haigler, officiated by the Rev. Ross Kershaw. The organist was Florence Daniels and the quartet consisted of Helen Woods, Virginia Harford, Ray Harford and Don Harford singing "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden." Bearers were Jimmie Bell, Bobby DeHart, Timothy White, Mark E. Brown, Gary Brown, Scott Brown, Billy DeHart, Kevin White, Stephan Brown, Alan Brown, Jerry Brown, Roger White, Mark T. Brown and Ricky Brown. Interment was in Haigler Cemetery. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Benkelrnan.
