Charles E. Thomas, David S. Thomas, 1 South 43 West

In 1880 Pottawatomie County, Kansas, John Thomas is 50, born in Indiana, Eliza 47 Delaware, have Charles E. 19, David S. 17, John H. 15, Wm. 13, Clarence A. 11, daughters F.A. 8 and E. A.6 - all these kids born in Indiana, and daughter H.A. 2 born in Kansas.
In 1885 Pottawatomie County, John and Eliza have John H. 19, Wm.E. 18, Albert C. 15, Emma A. 11, and Hattie A. 6.
John Thomas died Aug 4, 1904, aged 74, and is buried in Onaga, Pottawatomie County # 131537009.
Eliza died May 16, 1897, age 64, and is buried in Onaga # 8936512.

CHARLES
Nellie Blanche Porter, born Sept 2, 1867, married Charles Edward Thomas on April 11, 1888. They had Hattie Irene Jan 12, 1889, marrying Henry Paulsen, Clyde Porter Thomas Jan 6, 1890, Gladys Evelyn Thomas January 21, 1896, Minnie Iona Thomas July 31, 1898,a nd George Albert Thomas Feb 18, 1907.

Charles proved up a quarter in 22, 1S 43W in 1893 . In 1900 Charles is back in Pottawatomie County, married 12 years to Nellie B. Sept 1867 Ohio. They have Hattie Jun 1888 Colorado, Clyde P. Jan 1890 Colorado, Gladys E. Jan 1896 Kansas, M Iola July 1898 Kansas - father John born Dec 1829, widowed, is living with them.
In 1910 Pottawatomie County, Charles and Nellie have Clyde P., Gladys E. 14, Iona M. 11, and George A. 3.

Charles and Nellie died in Clayton, New Mexico - Nellie on February 12, 1926.
Nellie # 16508469 is buried in Clayton "Nellie passed away at the the home of Bruce Kennedy.

She was the daughter of J.S. Porter, b. OH and Phoebie B. Meek, b. OH.

When Nellie was 18 years old her parents moved the family to Wray, Colorado. In March of 1921 she moved to Long Canyon, near Folsom, Union, NM.

She married Charles E. Thomas on April 11, 1888 in Wray, CO.

She is survived by 5 children: Mrs. Hattie Paulson, Clyde P., Mrs. Gladys Grutzmacher, Mrs. Iona Gurtler, Osage, KS and George A., Folsom, NM; and by 2 sisters: Mrs. G.W. Brooks, Central Point, OR and Mrs. J.A. Brown, Medford, OR. "

Charles is buried in Clayton # 16508459.


DAVID

David proved up a quarter in 27, 1S 43W in 1892. He was a witness for the 1902 claim of brother-in-law John W. Smith in 1S 43W.
In 1900 Glendale precinct, David born Feb 1863 has been married seven years to Clara S. July 1874 Nebraska, with no children.

His wife was Clara Levesta Smith
In 1920 Yuma County, David is 56, born in Indiana, widowed, farming, living by himself.
Next household is Albert C. Thomas 49, Indiana, married to Gladys born in Illinois. Mildred Robert 6, Mary 4, and Velma 1 were all born in Colorado.
When Herman Renzelman filed for a claim in 1N 45W in 1922, witnesses included Clarence Thomas and David Thomas of Wray.
David Thomas 1873-1939 is buried in Wray # 81634258.
