Luther and Bertha (Gaskill) Foster, 1 South 43 West
Luther cash-claimed a quarter in 23, 1S 43W in 1890, and proved up a quarter in 26 in 1893.
In 1900 Washington County, Kansas, Luther born Dec 1865 in Missouri,
married four years to Bertha, Feb 1876 in Kansas, are on the same page as
Bertha's parents Asbury and Mary Gaskill.
They have Jessie M. Apr 1897, Ray F. July 1898, and Mamie March 1900, all three born in Kansas.
In 1910 they're farming in Bent County, Colorado, with Jessie 12, Ray H. 11,
Mamie 10, Fern 6, - these four born in Kansas, Roxie 4 born in Nebraska, Lucy 2 and Olen M. both in Colorado.
In 1920 Yuma County, farming, "Lute" is 56, Bertha 42, Jessie 22, Ray 21, Mamie 19, Fern 16, Roxie 14, Lucy 12 Olen 10, Wesley 8, Marie 6, James 4, Olson 2, and Lehta six months.
In 1930 Yuma County, Louis Foster is 67, Indiana, Bertha 64, with Olen M. 20, Wesley 18, Myrtle 17, James 12, Guy 12, and Letha 10.
"Funeral Services were held from the Nazarene church in Wray last
Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Luther Nelson Foster,
with Mrs. Lulu Haug in charge of the services.
The remains were laid to rest in Grandview cemetery.
Mr. Foster passed away at his home west of Wray on Tuesday, March 10, 1931.
Although he had been in failing health for about two years,
his final illness was but of a few days duration.
Luther Nelson Foster was born in Nashville, Tennessee on Dec. 1, 1858.
As a child, he moved with hie parents to Indiana. From Indiana
he came to Colorado, being a pioneer settler in this community.
He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Gaskill in Washington, Kans.,
on Dec. 19, 1895 and to this union thirteen children were born.
One child died in Infancy.
Mr. Foster is survived by his faithful wife and twelve children:
Mrs. Jessie Trends of Butte, Mont.,
Roy F. Foster, Mrs. Feme Heater of Loveland, Colo.,
Mrs. Mamie Sigwing, Mrs. Lucille Wilkins,
Roxey, Olen, Wesley, James, Guy, Marie, and Jim;
by eleven grandchildren, three sisters and one brother,
besides less near relatives and many friends.
All the children, excepting Mrs. Trends who was unable to come
to Wray, were present at the funeral services."

In 1940 Wray, on Hale Street, Bertha is widowed, 64, with Jane, a seamstress with the WPA, 20.
Louis and Bertha (Gaskill) Foster are farming in Yuma County in 1930, with Olen M. 20, Wesley 18, Myrtle 17, James 17, Guy 14, and Letha 12, all kids born in Colorado.
October 1940 "
F. Gaskill and Mrs. Bertha Foster were called to Dodge City,
Kansas last Saturday by the death of their sister, Mrs. Eva Armstrong."
January 10, 1946 "Roy P. Gaskill, brother of W. F. Gaskill and Mrs. Bertha Foster left Tuesday morning to return to his home at Twin Falls, Idaho, after a visit in Wray."
"Mrs. Bertha Jane Foster, a resident of this community for
thirty-seven years, died Friday January 11, 1946 at 2 o'clock at the home
of Mrs. Dolly Warren, where she had been receiving care for several weeks.
She was born February 25, 1876, in Washington, Kansas,
and was nearing her seventieth birthday when death claimed her.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Lockwood Mortuary,
conducted by Rev. W. R. Glendening and burial was in Grandview cemetery.
Mrs. Foster was married on December 19, 1895, to Luther Nelson Foster
at Wichita, Kansas. Thirteen children were born to them,
one of whom preceded toe mother in death. The couple came to Colorado
and lived on farms in the area for many years. Mr. Foster died on March 10,
1931.
Mrs. Foster made many friends during her life by her devotion
to her family. She was a faithful companion, an affectionate mother
and a devoted Christian. She was a member of the Nazarene church.
Survivors include the twelve children, six sons and six daughters,
all of whom, but one daughter, were able to attend the funeral rites.
They are Mrs. Jessie Tremis of Butte, Montana, Mrs. Mamie Sigwing of Wray,
Mrs. Fern Hester of Loveland, Mrs. Lucille Wilkins at Wray,
Mrs. Marie Naylor and Mrs. June Camell of Denver,
Roy F. Foster of Fort Collins, Wesley Foster of Denver and
Roxie, Olen, James and Guy Foster, all of Wray.
Two sisters and four brothers also survive.
They are Mrs. Myrtle Rhodes of Oklahoma,
Mrs. Ida. McKibben of Dodge City, Kansas,
Wm. Gaskill of California, Roy Gaskill of Idaho,
Frank Gaskill at Wray and Claude Gasklll of Kansas.
Also there are twenty-nine grandchildren and
three great grandchildren besides less near relatives and friends.
Her sister, Mrs. McKibben and two nieces came from Dodge City, Kansas,
to be present at the funeral services."
Bertha and Luthur Nelson Foster 1859-1931 are buried in Wray # 81599193 and 63684898.

GUY
Guy Foster - Opal Baker - 18 May 1936 recorded in Yuma County.
Guy is in Wray in 1940, working on construction with the WPA,
married to Opal born in Nebraska, both 22, with Joyce 2, born in COlorado.
1948 "Mr. and Mrs. Lester Baker and daughter and the former's sister,
Mrs. Guy Foster, and daughter Joyce left Saturday morning for Portland
and Monroe, Oregon, where they will visit at the home of a brother,
Robert Baker. They plan to be gone three weeks."
June 1953 "Mr. and Mrs. Guy Foster and daughter Joyce are moving to Fort Morgan where Mr. Foster is now operating a Skelly service station on the highway in west Fort Morgan. The Fosters have sold their bulk agency here to John Jacobson. Foster reports that his first customers in Fort Morgan were Wrayites, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hagen."
February 1954 "Guy Foster, who has been working with an oil crew
near Fort Morgan, had the misfortune of being injured
this past week when a piece of casing fell on his right leg.
He is now convalescing from a fractured knee and torn
ligaments and enjoying an ill-timed vacation."
Opal Mayme Baker was born July 26, 1917 at Stratton, Nebraska to George r. Baker and Estella M. Curtis, name as Foster in 1943, Eckes in 1956, dying January 1990.
She's buried in Brush 1917-1990 # 70639134, with George Eckes 1913-1982.

Services were held Tuesday, February 5, 1974 at the First Christian Church in Wray for George R. Baker who passed away February 2 at the age of 101 years, 11 months and three days. Rev. Lee Martin conducted the services.
George R. Baker was born September 29, 1872 in Beloit, Kansas to George and Mary Baker. He was baptized a member of the United Brethren Church in Beloit.
He was united in marriage to Clair Bryant and from this union two children were born, Mary and Edna.
After the death of his wife, Clair, Mr. Baker was married to Estella May Curtis October 11, 1906 in Goodland, Kansas. They had 12 children.
Mr. and Mrs. Baker and family came to Wray in October 1928. Mr. Baker worked on various construction and farming jobs.
Mr. Baker lived alone after his wife's death until the age of 96. He then lived with his daughter Goldie in Gillette, Wyoming for a short time and returned to Wray where he resided with his children, Rex Baker and Manford Baker. At the age of 99 he moved to the Cedardale Nursing home where he lived until his death.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and three sisters, wives Clair and Estella, children Harry, Lucille, Darlene, Mary, Art and Lester.
Survivors include his children Edna Thackery of Canby, Ore., Robert. Baker of Gervais, Ore., Goldie Cooper and Harvey Baker of Gillette, Wyo., Claude Baker and Opal Eckes of Longmont and Manford Baker and Rex Baker of Wray and a brother Harry Baker of
Emporia, Kansas. Mr Baker also leaves 84 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

October 1954 "Mrs. Donnie Raye Brown, a recent bride,
has been receiving the congratulations of friends since her return
last week from California where she and her mother, Mrs. Guy Faster,
had gone last month to meet S 3/c Brown upon his return from overseas.
Mrs. Brown is the former Joyce Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Guy Foster of Wray. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brown
of Haigler. Wedding vows were exchanged at Quartzsite, Ariz.,
on Saturday, September 25, with the groom's twin sister and
her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney White of Long Beach,
as the attendants. The bride's mother and M. D. McCarty, the groom's
buddy in the Seabees, also witnessed the ceremony. The bride
wore a smart navy suit with red accessories. The groom,
who has been in service for the past two years,
was stationed at Fort Hueneme, Calif., until last week
when he left Thursday morning for ten months of duty in
the Philippines.
The bride will make her home in Wray until he returns."
JAMES

Funeral services for James Foster were held Wednesday, December 1, at Spellman-Schmidt Mortuary with Rev. Mike Damino officating. Interment followed in Grandview Cemetery.
Mr. Foster was born September 20, 1915 and passed away November 27, 1982 at the age of 67 years.

"Mayme Foster was born on March 25, 1900, in Washington, Kansas.
She died at Wray on January 20, 1953. She was married to
Charles Sigwing on Aug 4, 1923. Surviving are two daughters,
Shirley and Leola, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Guy, Jim, Roxie and Olen all of Wray. Sisters; Fern Hester, Jessie Tremis both of Loveland,

ROXIE
Roxie Foster - Florence Hahn - 8 Sept 1929 registered in Yuma County
"Little Ethel Irene Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roxie Foster was
born in Wray on June 1, 1932. The family removed to Loveland, Colo.,
in April 1934. On July 3rd the little one was taken to the hospital
in Fort Collins where she died on the morning of the 7th.
The body was returned to the mortuary at Loveland
where the funeral service was held on the 8th with Rev. C. L. Dean
of the Christian Church in charge.
Mrs. Foster, the mother, is a daughter of Mrs. Ella Hahn
of northwest of Wray. Mrs. Hahn with her daughter Elizabeth,
her son Philip and her son-in-law, Glen Gaskill,
went from Wray to the funeral service. Mrs. Hahn remained
for a few days with the bereaved family which consists of the father,
mother, two sisters and a brother."
The Presbyterian church in Akron was the scene of a pretty wedding Sunday afternoon, December 7, 1952 when Robert Bricker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Bricker of Akron, claimed Miss Phyllis Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roxie Foster of Wray, as his bride with the minister reading the double ring ceremony at two o’clock. The bride’s sister. Miss Elberta Foster, was maid of honor and the groom was attended by Robert Bollard. Only the immediate families of the couple were present. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Foster who had spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roxie Foster and Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Sparks.
Miss Maxine Sparks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Sparks, and Dean Foster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roxie Foster, were united in marriage at a quiet ceremony performed by Rev. Robert E. Seals Saturday evening, November 3, 1951 at seven-thirty in the Christian church. The single ring service was used. The bride chose a navy blue dress with a corsage of white carnations and red roses. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Clayty Nunn. Friends of the immediate families enjoyed a reception afterward at the home of the groom’s parents.
Pfc. and Mrs. Dean Foster of Aurora are the parents of a baby daughter, born Saturday, July 11, 1953 at Fitzsimons hospital. She weighed seven pounds one ounce and has been named Debra Kay. Word was received in Wray by the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Byran Sparks and Mr. and Mrs. Roxie Foster. The mother is the former Maxine Sparks.
WESLEY
Wesley Foster - Florence Naylor - 21 Sept 1933 registered in Weld County.
"Mr. Wesley Foster of Wray was married at Greeley, Colo.,
on September 21 to Miss Florence Naylor of Loveland. The groom was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Foster of Wray. The couple will make their home in Loveland."

Lucile Foster - Vernie Wilkins -

FERN
Ferne Foster - Herchel Marion Hester - 24 Dec. 1922 registered in Morgan County.
Fern Hester, 82, formerly of 538 E. 23rd St., Loveland, died April 30 at a local nursing home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1903, in Washington, Kan., to Luther and Bertha Gaskill Foster. She traveled with her family by covered wagon to Wray from Kansas. She married Herschel M. Hester Dec. 24, 1922, in Fort Morgan. He died Dec. 11, 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church. She came to Loveland in 1926, from Eaton.
She is survived by daughters, Billie Mohrland, Bonnie Emerson and husband, Ray, Bernice Viegut and husband, Darrell, and Shirley Lowe and husband, Ron, Loveland, Betty Charles and husband, Del, Phoenix, Ariz., Barbara Hervey, San Diego, Calif., Kay Plitt and husband, William, Arlington, Va.; brothers, Wesley Foster, Pueblo, and Guy Foster, Greeley; a sister, June Whitney and husband, William, Salida; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, four brothers, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James P. Adams officiating.
Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park.
Herschel M. Hester 1894-1944 is on the same stone as Zada Fern Hester.
Bonnie M. Emerson, 89, of Loveland,
Colorado died February 7, 2016 at her home. She was born May 14, 1926
in Eaton, Colorado. While still an infant the family moved to Loveland
and remained there. Bonnie attended Loveland High School. Her favorite
classes were American History, Science and Physical Education.
She married Ray Emerson in 1946 and lived in Loveland until
Ray became employed by Pepsi-Cola Company and the family moved to
Salt Lake City, Utah and was later transferred to L.A. Ray then
became employed by Vernors Gingerale Company and they moved to
Detroit and later Chicago where Ray worked for Orange Crush.
They later moved to San Francisco when Ray began work with
Proctor and Gamble Company. Eventually they returned to Loveland
for retirement.
During her senior year in high school, Bonnie worked for
Dr. Grace Hull's Maternity House on 4 th street and decided
that she would like a career in the medical profession.
While living in Sepulveda Bonnie's dreams came true when
she graduated, as class Valedictorian, from the Los Angeles
College of Medical Assistants. Her pride in her growing
children was special to her. All of her children were good
students and had it not been for their "coaching" and "quizzing",
Bonnie was not sure she would have made it through extended education.
Bonnie became "a doctor's right hand aide" in the lab and x-ray areas.
She was especially proud of her work with children.
After 26 years of dedicated work she moved back to Loveland
and retired. Bonnie loved being in Colorado and thought of
the mountains as "My Mountains."
Bonnie is survived by her husband Ray of Loveland;
two beloved daughters Beverly Holston of Loveland and
Karen Morgan (Lance) of Arizona, who have cherished their
mother's love and caring which was showered upon them,
they will long remember "our wonderful mother." Bonnie is
also survived by her sisters Bernice Viegut of Loveland,
Shirley Lowe of Loveland and Glenna Kay Plitt of Arlington, VA;
five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Herschel and Fern Hester,
her only son Wayne who was killed in action in Vietnam, her grandson
Donald Piper who passed in 2009 and 3 sisters.

JESSIE
Jessie Foster - George Trimis - 21 July 1923 registered in Weld County.
In 1930 Butte, Montana, George Tremis is a restaurant chef,
34, born in Greece, with Jessie M. 32, Kansas.
September 1952 "Mrs. A. M. Tofflemoyer, accompanied by
Mrs. Vernie Wilkins and Larry, drove to Fort Collins Monday of
last week and visited Mrs. Wilkins' sister, Mrs. Jessie Tremis,
who is hospitalized with a broken hip. They continued to Loveland
where they were joined by the Harold Bullard family to go to
Grand Lake where they spent several days with Mrs. Tofflemoyer's brother,
Harrison Broda. The Wray people returned home Thursday evening."
John G. 'Jack' Tremis died July 15, 2009, at his home in Butte.
Jack was born in Greeley, Colo., on June 30, 1924, to George and Jessie (Foster) Tremis. He entered the Army on April 13, 1943, and served with the 1850th Service Command Unit.
He was stationed at Camp Chaffee, Ark., worked at the 482nd SU Repair Shop at Camp Wallace, Texas, and then as a training instructor at Camp Claiborne, La.
He received several awards during his military service, including the Marksman Rifleman Award, World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the American Theater Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on March 23, 1946.
Following his discharge, Jack worked at the Berkeley Pit, where he became a mining supervisor and “pit boss,” retiring in July of 1982. On June 18, 1970, he married Goldie A. Godynick in Butte.
Jack was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local No. 2, since July of 1961, and also belonged to the American Legion Ushering Corps, Eagles Lodge for over 30 years and International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehouseman, and Helpers Union.
He loved to ride motorcycles. He had a passion for life, was always smiling and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was just a happy-go-lucky guy with a heart of gold who will be missed terribly.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Roy H. Tremis.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Goldie Tremis; daughter, Teri Sue Bair and grandson, Jeff Bair; son, Bob Tremis and granddaughters, Rachel and Rebecca Tremis; stepsons, Alex Godynick, Tom Godynick, Steve (Karen) Godynick, and Kevin Workman; stepgrandchildren, Lisa Godynick and Stephanie, Levi, and Chance, Kim and Brian Faroni, Chrissie and Thom Coffman and Bryant and Chelsey Hansen, Wayne and Stetson Workman, John and Marsha Godynick and Gus and Piper, and Emmie Joe and Dusty Philps and Laura and Marie.
Jack's remains have been cremated in Butte. Memorial graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Cemetery.

September 21, 1950 "Mr. and Mrs. Guy Foster of Wray have announced
the marriage of their niece, Mary Pat Tremis of Denver,
to Robert C. Thompson of Laird.
Mrs. Thompson is the daughter of Mrs. Jessie Tremis of Denver and is
a graduate of the Barnes School of Commerce.
She is now employed as a clerk in the surgical ward at Denver
General hospital.
Mr. Thompson is the son of Mrs. C. Frank Odell of Laird. He completed three years of military service in November of 1949 and is now employed by the
B & F Service Station in Denver. The couple will live in Denver."
