March 1899 Brush, Colorado " Josiah Lee was on the sick list the first of the week with la grippe."

In 1900 Brush, Josiah Lee born August 1843 in Indiana, Rosaline Lee 55 Wife, and Harry Schultze 16 Grand Son.

"DIED - January 5th,1901, at 4 p.m. of paralysis of the heart, Josiah Lee, aged 57 years, 3 months and 23 days. The deceased was born in Indiana in 1843. He came to Colorado from Hastings, Neb., about 13 years ago. He was married 34 years ago last April to Miss Rosaline Devore. He served in the War of the Rebellion in Company A, 40th Regiment Iowa Vol., and was a member of the Yuma Post of the G. A. R..
He leaves a widow and three children - Mrs. Schultz, of Fairfield, Neb.; Mrs. Philo McSween, of Brush and a son, of St. Joseph, Mo, to mourn his loss. About two weeks before his death he went about three miles from town to nurse a small-pox patient. The sick man had recovered, and both he and Mr. Lee were preparing to return to Brush when the deceased was suddenly seized with sickness and expired in a few moments. The suddenness of the call was a severe shock to his friends and to the entire community. Brief services were held at his late residence on Monday afternoon, and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery by members of the Fort Morgan Post of the G. A. R. with the beautiful service of their ritual.
Mr. Lee was a good citizen and a kind and obliging neighbor. The family and relatives have the warm sympathy of many friends in their bereavement."

T.J. Lee family were included in the card of thanks.

January 1901 "On the 5th. inst., Josiah Lee, a leading citizen of Brush, acting as voluntary nurse, dropped dead in the pest house, where he had been nursing a patient. His death is attributed to heart disease."

February 1901 " Mrs. J. Lee has sold part of her household effects and will make her home with her son-in-law, Philo McSween."

April 1902 Brush "Mrs. J. Lee and Mr. and Mrs. P. J. McSween moved, Wednesday, into the former's house on Colorado avenue."

March 1904 "Mrs. J. Lee, who has been visiting her sister and daughter in the east during the winter, returned to her home in Brush Monday. She reports a delightful visit."

In October 1904 Brush, the Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid sold tickets for people to attend different homes representing countries. Arabelle was the daughter of Thomas J. Lee.





November 22, 1918 "Mrs. Joseph Lee of Brush died last week at Scottsbluff, Neb., where she had gone to nurse her daughter and family through a sieze of influenza. Mrs. Lee was about 70 years of age and had resided in Brush for the last 20 years. She has a son Frank whose whereabouts arc unknown and two daughters, Mrs. P. McSween of Scotts Bluffs, Neb., and Mrs. Shoultz of Mitchell, Neb. The funeral services and internment took place Tuesday at Brush."

"Mrs. Ella May Schultze, 67, resident of Scotts Bluff County for the past 24 years, died yesterday at her home in Mitchell. Funeral services have not yet been arranged, but they will be held at Mitchell, and interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.
Her husband, W. H. Schultze, Sr., survives, and four sons. They are Willie and Fred, of Mitchell, Harry, of Port Angeles, Wash., and Albert of Palm Springs, Calif. A sister, Mrs. Lou McSween, of Scottsbluff, and a brother Frank Lee, of pocatello, Idaho, survive also.
She was born on December 28, 1866, at Lucas, Iowa, and was 67 years, four months, and two days old when she died. She was married to Mr. Schultze on November 12, 1882, at Rockport, MO. They lived on a farm outside of Mitchell for a while, and later moved to Mitchell.
Mrs. Schultze has been a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge since 1899, and was well-known in church and lodge circles.
They moved to Mitchell, Scottsbluff, NE in 1910."

In 1920 Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Philo J. Mcsween is chief of police, 47, Lorinda Mcsween 46 Wife, Martha Mcsween 20 Daughter, Merle Mcsween 13 Daughter, Mildred Mcsween 7 Daughter, Fred Mcsween 3 Son, and Cecil Mcclure 21 Boarder.

February 24, 1933 Scottsbluff " Last rites for Philo John McSween, 60, prominent resident of the community for the past quarter of a century, were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Knight funeral home. The Rev. EC Raue of the First Presbyterian church was in charge and bnrial was in Fairview cemetery. The eacorts were Frank Cowen, Dr. J. N. Stoops, Milo Jones, Bert Tompkins, O. L. Godsey, and MSI Miller. The honorary escorts were Mayor A. T. Howard, former Mayors Frank McCreary and T.D. Deutsch, Chief of Police Guy Carlson, and Patrolmen W. J. Weddle, Herman Ruebel, and W. A. Bwlgart.
Mr. McSween waa the chlef of police here for four and one-halt years prior to whlch tlme he farmed north of the city. He reld edjn the auction for 2B years.
He was born September ll, 1872 at Burnet, Tex., and passed away Monday, February 13, 1933. He was united in marriage to Miss Lurinda Lee in l899 at Brush, Colo. He is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Demor set, Murle and Mildred of Scottsbluff, and one grandson, Keith Demorest of this city. A son Raymond died in 1918 and a son Fred in 1926."
