"Mrs. Nancy Martin of Eckley died December 27, 1933, at the home of her son, George Rice. Nancy Caroline Baker was born in Polk county, Iowa, July 2, 1855. She was united in marriage to George E. Rice Dec 21, 1871, and to this union e children were born. All of the children except her son George Rice of Eckley, preceded their mother in death, as did the husband who passed away in March 1916. After the death of her first husband, Mrs. Rice was united in marriage to John Martin. Mr. Martin passed away only a few years before the death of Mrs. Martin.
Surviving the deceased are her son George of Eckley, seven grand children: Mrs. Pat Godsey of Eckley, Mrs. Delbert Sutter of Aurora, Jethro and Eugene Rice of Eckley, Mrs. Jouette Branaum, Mrs. Harold Riffle, and Miss Loma Rice, also of Eckley. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, many other relatives, and a host of friends who will miss her friendly council. She devoted much of her time to performing deeds of kindness for those with whom she came in contact. She had long been a member of the United Brethren church, having become a member early in life.
The funeral service was held at the home of her son, George Rice, in Eckley. Rev. Hollars of Eckley, and Rev. W. L. Breckenridge of Yuma conducted the service. The remains were laid to rest in the Eckley cemetery."

John's daughter Mary Elizabeth Martin married Clifford Whittenburg, lived in Yuma County, buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado 1878-1964.
In 1920 Vernon precinct, Elizabeth is 31, Clifford 33, Ruth 7, and Merle 6.

WILLIAM

Mr. W. A. Martin and Miss Eva Durrin were united in marriage by Judge Loader at Clay Center, Kansas August 8th 1906, After the ceremony the young couple retired to the home of Mr. Dobbins living on the county lina where a large number of their friends gathered and a reception was given. The bride is a bright young lady and held in high esteem by her many friends. The groon is a very promising young man of sterling worth and the son of J. L. Martin, where they are now at home.
The News with a large circle of friends wish Mr. and Mrs. Martin a long and pleasant wedded life, and may it be strewn with flowers and sunshine as the years come and go. "

William registered for WWI in Wray, farming, born June 21, 1880, spouse Eva A. Martin.

July 1938 Wray "Ralph Zimmerman of Mo. spent several days at the Ernest ?? home. Mr. Zimmerman is a cousin of Mrs. Ernest Lasher, Mr. and Mrs. N. O. Mullison Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Whittenberg of Eckley, Colorado, and also visited with Mrs. Will Martin of Abilene, Kansas, who is visiting at the Whittenberg home. Mrs. Martin lived in this vicinity several years ago."
