September 27, 1928 "Mrs. Lillian Jones of this city and Mr. John Donovan of Oklahoma were united in marriage Thursday evening, Sept. 20. at the brids’s home, with Judge I. L. Barker officiating. The wedding ceremony was witnessed by the immediate relatives of the bride and groom. Following the ceremony and congratulations, refreshments of ice cream, cake, and cigars were served. The bride is a well known and highly respected lady of this city, and her legion of friends will wish her all happiness throughout her married life. The groom is a brother of Dave Donovan, who resides south of Wray, and of late years he has been Jiving in Oklahoma, where he has been employed in the oil industry. Mr. and Mrs. Donovan will make their home in Wray. The Rattler extends the newlyweds heartiest congratulations and good wishes.

September 1937 "J. J. Donovan of Wray and his brother Ed of Spear Lake, Ia., met recently at McCool Junction, Neb., for the first time in 52 years. The two brothers separated when they were boys. Their paths led in different directions and they had never met in more than half a century. Recently another brother died at McCool Junction and both J. J. and Ed traveled to that town to attend the funeral. And it was here that the Donovan brothers met for the first time in 52 years. "

January 14, 1943 "John J. Donovan, a resident of Wray since 1927, died Wednesday morning at a Sterling hospital. He had been a patient at Sterling for the previous week and had been in poor health for some time.
The deceased was born April 29, 1865, in Logan county, Illinois. He married Olive Doane at York, Nebraska, in 1886. She died in 1915. On September 20, 1928, Mr. Donovan married Mrs. Lillian Jones of Wray, who survives him. There were three children born of his first marriage, two daughters and a son. The son, Elmer Donovan of Yellowjacket, came here last week and accompanied hia father to Sterling. He remained with him until his death. The Hitchcock Mortuary brought the body to Wray Wednesday afternoon and funeral arrangements had not yet been completed yesterday, waiting for word from relatives."

April 1953 "Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Wray Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Lillian May Donovan, a pioneer Wray mother and a widely known resident of this community for more than 60 years. Rev. Robert Seals officiated at the rites which were followed by burial in Grandview cemetery. Arrangments were in charge of the Lockwood Mortuary. Lillian May Mason, daughter of Lewis Henry and Susanna H. Mason, was bom on March 18, 1875, at Nelson, 111., and departed this life at her home in Wray on April 23, 1953, at the age of 78 years, one month and five days. At the age of five she moved with her family to a farm near York, Neb., where they made their home until the spring of 1891, when they came to Wray. On February 12, 1895, she was united in marriage to Sherman W. Jones at Wray. To this union eight children were bom, all of whom are living. Mr. Jones passed away on April 23, j 3923. Her parents, two Dick Mason and Lewis Mason, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Coston and Mrs. Minnie Willis, also preceded her in death. On September 20. 1928, Mrs. Jones was united in marriage to John Donovan at Wray. Mr. Donovan died on January 13, 1943. As a child she attended school in York county, Neb., and finished her education in Wray. Early in life she attended the Lutheran church with her parents and had been a faithful member of the Christian church here for thirty years. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 76 for many years, being the first Noble Grand to preside in the present Odd Fellow hall. Except for a short time in Lincoln, HI., and two years in Colorado Springs, she lived on a farm near Wray during most of her married life, moving into town in 1920. For the past three years she in failing health and had been seriously ill since the first of January. She was a loving mother and her kind influence will be missed by all who knew her. x Surviving her are four sons, Clarence W. Jone 3 and Earl S. Jones of Wray, Chief Warrant Officer Elmer Jones of the marines, now serving in Korea, and James M. Jones of Kuna, Idaho; four daughters, Mrs. Rolla Farwell of Santa Paula, Calif., Mrs. Maud Hinds of Pampa, Texas, Mrs. Mable Wright of Bandon, Ore., and Mrs. Ella Balderson of Wray; one sister, Mrs. Eva Hubbard of Beatrice, Neb.; three brothers, Roy Mason of Proctor, Wayne Mason of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, James Mason of Cope; twenty-two grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren."
