Mr. Ledbetter also procured a contract for five other quarters in the immediate vicinity,
with the view to bringing other settlers and will engage in the stock business extensively.

December 1900 "Billy Boyd of Rawles township, planning to have a big public sale the last of
this month, having rented his farm to Mr. Gray of Tabor, for the coming year he expects to get
to -northwestern Kansas before long and raise range cattle. He has rented a ranch of 1,000
acres and already bought some cattle here.
This ranch joins that of his cousin James Boyd, who has been county assessor of Yuma county
for a number of years and comes near living in three states at once. For James
has a ranch containing 2,500 acres of land in a body and this land lies where the three states
corner so that part of it is ih Kansas, part in Nebraska, and the rest of it in Colorado."

"Word comes to The Rattler office of the death of J. M. Boyd, a former Wray man. Mr. Boyd was accidentally struck by an automobile out at Long Beach, Calif., and death resulted from the injuries sustained. His death occurred several weeks ago. It will be recalled that Mr. Boyd was the proprietor of a barbershop in Wray some years ago and many of the people who resided in this town at that time will remember him."

" Alvin Everett Boyd, 73, of 907 Hays street, a pioneer resident of
Boise, died in a local hospital Monday morning, following a long illness.
Mr. Boyd was born June 14, 1883 in Iowa and came to Boise in 1900,
where he was married Feb. 3, 1910, to Marguerite Short.
He was a salesman for Davidson grocery.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons,
Alvin, Jr., James, and Francis Boyd, all of Boise, a daughter,
Mrs. Florence Grace Buckmaster, Boise, a sister, Mrs. Olive Enockson,
Wilmington, Calif., and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at Schreiber - McCann Gibson chapel,
Wednesday at 2 p. m."
