"Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Hoeppner Barber, 71, who died Monday at her home,
2511 McFaul avenue, will be held at 9 a. m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic church,
with Rev. Thomas M. Parle officiating. The body will be sent to St. James, Minn. for interment in
Calvary cemetery there. A rosary will oe recited at 8:au o'clock tonight at the
Nelson-Berger funeral home where the body will remain until the hour of service.
Mrs. Barber was born here February 16, 1870. She was married to J. M. Barber at Council Bluffs July 21, 1896.
For a time they lived in Sioux Falls, later moving to St. James, Minn., where they
resided for 20 years. The Barbers moved to Sioux City 13 years ago.
She was a member of St Joseph's Catholic church, the auxiliary of the Brotherhood of
Locomotive Engineers and the Girls of '68.
Surviving are het widower; a daughter, Mrs. George R. McGinty, St. James;
a son, Eugene Gordon Barber, Detroit; a sister, Mrs. John Martin, Red Oak, Ia.,
and two grandchildren.
The body is at the Nelson-Berger funeral home."
"John M. Barber, 89, a former Sioux Cityan. died Sunday, March 26, 1961,
at a hospital in St. James, Minn. Mr. Barber was a retired engineer on the Chicago,
Minneapolis, St. Paul and Omaha railroad. He was born March 27, 1871, at Creston, Ia.
He married Emma Heppner July 21, 1886 at Council Bluffs, Ia.
Survivors include a son, F. Gordon of Detroit, Mich., a daughter,
Mrs. Lucille McGinty of St. James, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The body is expected to arrive here Wednesdaay. It will be taken to the Nelson-Berger
north side funeral home."
