Q: What is the Oldest Town in Colorado?
A: San Luis was established on April 5th, 1851 and is considered the oldest
continuously occupied town in Colorado. Hispanic settlers from the Taos Valley
established several small villages along the Rio Culebra in the San Luis Valley
and officially took possession of this portion of the Sangre de Cristo Land
Grant. Many of the descended of these original settlers still occupy the land
today.
