Longtime Sharon Springs, Kansas resident Gloria
Belle Woodmancy, 84, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at her home. She was
born December 26, 1929, at Holyoke, Colorado, the daughter of Iva Mary
(Critchlow) and Ray E. Crosby. She graduated from Holyoke High School
with the class of 1947 and then furthered her education at Colorado
University in Boulder, Colorado.
On April 5, 1948, she and Wayne
H. Woodmancy were married and they made their home on the Crosby farm in
Phillips County, Colorado, until 1959, when they moved to Sharon
Springs, Kansas. She was a dedicated farm wife and loving mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her memberships included the United
Methodist Church in Sharon Springs and Order of the Eastern Star. Gloria
was an accomplished musician who shared her talents with many and
inspired her family in their love of music. Gloria especially enjoyed
the twenty-three year hobby of hot air balloons that she and Wayne
shared.
Solving cross-word puzzles, bowling, making photo
albums, sewing, and following sports seasons were all activities that
she enjoyed. Preceding her in death were her husband Wayne H. Woodmancy,
who died in 2005; son Lynn Alan Woodmancy, who died in 1984; grandson
Travis Wade Funk, who died in 2005; and her parents.
Surviving
family includes her daughter Wanda Funk of Sharon Springs; four
grandchildren Camron Funk and his wife Tera, Tania Kortan and her
husband Scott, Clayton Funk, and Landon Funk and his wife Winter;
fourteen great grandchildren Madison and Trevor Funk; Hailey, Cade, and
Mya Funk; Ethan, Mallory, Mariah, Ebram, and Mabree Kortan; Avery,
Aspen, and Brody Crane; and Bryland Funk; brother James R. Crosby and
his wife Pat of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law Laverne Brown of Wheat
Ridge, Colorado; and brother-in-law Vern Woodmancy and his wife Delores
of Grant, Nebraska.
The funeral will be on Thursday, May 29, at
10:00 AM MT, at the United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs, with
Pastor Keith Anglemyer officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 PM MT at the
Holyoke Cemetery in Holyoke, Colorado. Friends may share their respects
one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be designated to
the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church or to Hospice Services of
Wallace County, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons
Funeral Home.
