Kathy Lee Smith, the daughter of Calvin and Myrtle Baumgartner Chandler, was born November 12, 1950 at Puyallup, Washington.
 
 When she was a small child her parents moved to Colorado. She attended school in Fleming and graduated from the Fleming High School.She was a recreational director in Fleming prior to her marriage to John Smith on January 29, 1971 at the United Church of Christ in Crook.
 
Soon after their marriage John went to Viet Nam. Kathy lived in Sterling until he returned from his tour of duty. They lived in Fort Collins from January 1972 until January 1974 when they moved to Holyoke, where they have continued to make their home.
 
Survivors include her husband John Smith of Holyoke; son Joel Smith of Holyoke; daughter Kori Smith of Holyoke; parents Calvin and Myrtle Chandler of Holyoke; brother Steve Chandler of Holyoke; three sisters Mrs. Milt (Vickie) Warner of Holyoke; Pam Percival of Holyoke and Mrs. Mike (Sandy) Langenfeld of Phillipsburg, Kansas; grandmother Lottie Grace Baumgartner of Puyallup, Washington and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives
 
Kathy died Wednesday, April 16, 1986 at the Prairie Vista Nursing Home in Holyoke at the age of 35.Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, 1986 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Holyoke with Rev. Scott Hood officiating, with burial following in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
