GERALD GLENN ROCKWELL 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, March 28, 1940 

ROCKWELL INFANT IS FOUND DEAD IN BED 

Funeral services were held at 4:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the State Line cemetery* in the Pleasant Valley community for Gerald Glenn Rockwell, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Rockwell, of near Holyoke. Rev. Roy E. Jones, pastor of the First Baptist church, conducted the service. 

The child, born March 11, was found dead in the bed at 6 o’clock Tuesday morning by the young mother, when she awoke. Death was attributed to asphyxia resulting from enlargement of the thymus gland. 

Surviving are the bereaved parents; one brother, Eugene; and the grandparents, Mrs. John Walgren of Holyoke and Mr. and Mrs. James McEwen of Wray.

NETTIE (MC EWEN) ROCKWELL 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, May 1974 

MRS. ROCKWELL RITES MAY 8TH 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 8, 1974, from the First Christian Church in Holyoke, for Nettie Rockwell, who passed away Sunday, May 5, at the Logan County Hospital in Sterling following an extended illness. 

Rev. Gerald Parriot officiated at the services. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. 

Jeanettie Lauretta Rockwell was born September 6, 1915 at Indianola, Nebraska to James and Della Brittain McEwen. September 8, 1932 she was united in marriage to Bill Rockwell at Imperial, Nebraska and to this union three sons were born. The family resided in the Pleasant Valley community, engaged in farming until 1951 when they moved to Holyoke and resided there at the time of her death. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alva, Burligame, Kansas and Clifford, Burley, Idaho and a son Gerald Glenn who died in infancy on March 26, 1940. 

She is survived by her husband, Bill; two sons, Gene of Rifle, and Gale of Julesburg; four grandchildren, Regina, Rhonda, Randal and RaLynn of Rifle; four brothers, Jack of Winlock, Washington, Bob and Claude of Portland, Oregon, and Floyd of Ontario, Oregon; four sisters, Alta Zick of Yuma, Stella Bahler of Venango, Nebraska, Beulah Soehner of Wray, and Maxine Brenner of Idalia; and many friends.

SERVICES ARE HELD FOR T.H. ROCKWELL

Former Resident of Pleasant Valley Dies In Holyoke From Heart Failure 

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church here for Thomas H. Rockwell, 65, former resident of the Pleasant Valley community, who died Saturday morning at the family home in Holyoke. Rev. A.P. Walden, pastor of the United Brethren church of Lamar, Nebraska, officiated, and burial was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery. 

Mr. Rockwell had been a resident of Phillips County since 1915, although he had lived here for three years prior to that time, having come here first in 1907. He was born at Seymour, Iowa, November 26, 1870 and was married to Pearl Stroud at Seymour in 1901. After coming to Phillips County they lived north of Holyoke for three years, and then moved to the Pleasant Valley community, where they made their home until two years ago when they moved to Holyoke. 

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Pearl Rockwell, two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Alma) Lutze of Holyoke, and Mrs. Earl (Joyce) Adams of Amherst, one son, M.O. Rockwell of Holyoke, four grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Babbitt of Cambridge, Nebraska, Mrs. Nancy Ferris and Mrs. Abbie Heckerson, both of Seymour, Iowa, and two brothers, Ezra Rockwell of Conrad, Iowa, and William E. Rockwell of Seymour.

MARGARET A ( SCHMIDT) ROCKWELL 

Margaret A. Rockwell, 76, of Julesburg passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 in Julesburg. Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, Jan. 26 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Julesburg with Father Michael O’Brien celebrating. Inurnment will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Holyoke. 

Margaret was born on April 29, 1939 in Denver to Elizabeth Schmidt. She worked for the Sedgwick County Hospital for over 50 years. She was married to Gale E. Rockwell. She is survived by her cousins Joe Schiel and Ted Schiel. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Gale and mother Elizabeth. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Julesburg. 

Tennant Funeral Home & Crematory of Julesburg is in charge of arrangements. 

 

MILLARD OTTO "BILL" ROCKWELL 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, November 24, 1988 

Millard Otto "Bill" Rockwell, the son of Thomas Henry and Pearl Stroud Rockwell, was born January 1, 1909 in Seymour, Iowa. He came with his family to Phillips County in 1915 and settle north of Amherst. In 1920 they moved to the Pleasant Valley area and Bill attended schools there, becoming a member of the band. Bill married Nettie McEwen September 9, 1932. To this union three sons were born: Millard Gene; Garry Glen, who died in infancy; and Gale Everett. After farming for 20 years, Bill and Nettie moved to Holyoke, where they resided for the remainder of their years. Bill worked as a carpenter and, in September of 1973, went to work for the City of Holyoke and became custodian of the cemetery until his retirement in 1988. His wife Nettie passed away on May 5, 1974. 

Survivors include two sons, Gene and wife Fay of Rifle; and Gale and wife Margaret of Julesburg; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alma Lutze and Joy Adams; and brother Everett. 

Bill passed away Thursday, November 16, 1988 at the Prairie Vista Care Center in Holyoke at the age of 79. Funeral services were held Friday, November 18, 1988 at the First Christian Church in Holyoke with Rev. Kenneth Boswell officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Thompson Mortuary of Haxtun was in charge of arrangements.
