Jacob Charles Ricker, 78, of Haxtun, died Friday, August 11, 1995, at the Heritage Living Center in Haxtun.
 
Mr. Ricker was born October 8, 1916, to Charles and Ida Ricker on a homestead south of Ovid. He grew up close to the Fairfield area and attended the Fairfield school.
 
On August 21, 1939, he married Freda M. Anderson. They raised three children on their farm south of Ovid. He retired from farming in 1978 when he and his wife moved to Masonville, Colorado.
 
After retirement, he enjoyed his hobby of woodworking. Mr. Ricker served on the Amherst Coop Board of Directors for several years. He was also very active in the Covenant Church serving as a trustee and usher for many years in the churches both at Fairfield as well as Loveland.
 
He is survived by his wife Freda; daughter Charlotte Harms of Brighton; son Stanley Ricker and wife, peg, of Haxtun; a brother Robert Ricker of Ovid; sisters Violet Mae Anderson of Haxtun, Florence Smith of Julesburg, and Jeannette Joss of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Floyd Ricker; and two sisters, Minnie Zersen and Gladys Ott.
 
Services were held at the Fairfield Covenant Church, Monday, August 14, with interment at Haxtun Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Tennant-Thompson Mortuary of Haxtun.
 
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Ricker’s name to the Fairfield Covenant Church or the Alzheimer’s Association of Fort Collins.


Freda Maureen (Anderson) Ricker

Freda Maureen Ricker of Fort Collins was born at home January 14, 1918 to John T. and Hilma Anderson. She died January 19, 1996 at the Four Seasons Health Center of Fort Collins at the age of 78.
 
Freda grew up in the Fairfield Community and attended schools in Fairfield and Haxtun, graduating from Haxtun in 1936. On August 21, 1939, she married Jacob Ricker. They raised three children on their farm south of Ovid. In 1978, they retired to Masonville.
 
Mrs. Ricker was very active in the Covenant Church in both Fairfield and Loveland.
 
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Jacob, son Floyd and sister Eleanor.
 
Survivors include daughter Charlotte Harms of Brighton; son Stanley Ricker and wife Peg of Haxtun; daughter-in-law Marilyn Saccetta of Colorado Springs; brothers Bob Anderson of Haxtun and Arvid Anderson of Mesa, Arizona; sister Phyllis Starkebaum of Haxtun; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
 
Services were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 25 at Fairfield Covenant Church. Interment to be in Haxtun Cemetery.
