FRANK REHFELD BABY DIED HERE SUNDAY
 
Seven Months Babe Of Former Residents Succumbs To Serious Affliction
 
Russell Lutze Rehfeld, 7 month old son of Mr and Mrs. Frank Rehfeld of Imperial died Saturday night following a very severe operation. The child was attacked with a serious malady and was hurried to the local hospital late Saturday night when an operation was performed at once in an effort to relive it’s condition. A large growth was found inside the little body and death claimed the child’s life early Sunday
morning.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rehfeld are former residents of the Pleasant Valley community and are very well known to the community. They left their home south east of Holyoke about 7 years ago and settled south of Imperial, Nebraska where they have made their home since.
 
Russell was born on November 16, 1928. Funeral services will be held this afternoon from the Pleasant Valley school house with the Rev. J. Meyers of the Evangelical church at Imperial officiating. Interment will be made at the State Line cemetery.

MRS. ANNA REHFELD SUCCUMBS; FUNERAL MONDAY, AMHERST
 
Mrs. Anna E. Rehfeld of Amherst, a resident of this area more than 50 years, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the East Phillips County Hospital here. Mrs. Rehfeld suffered a stroke on October 10 and was brought to the hospital where she remained until her death. She was 76 years of age.
 
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst, with Rev. Theodore Schauland, pastor of that church, was officiating. Interment was at the Amherst Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Radford Funeral Home of Haxtun.
 
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Stark, Mrs. Rehfeld was born August 8, 1885 at Plainview, Nebraska. She was baptized in infancy and was confirmed in 1899.
 
She grew to womanhood in the Plainview community and was united in marriage there in 1903 to William C. Rehfeld. They moved to Northeast Colorado in 1908 and resided in the Holyoke, Amherst, Ovid and Sterling communities for many years. Mrs. Rehfeld had made her home at Amherst for a number of years.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Rehfeld were the parents of seven children, six of whom survive. Mrs. Rehfeld was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, one grandson, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
 
Survivors include four sons, Arthur, Hans Harold and Gerald Rehfeld, all of Denver; two daughters, Clara (Mrs. Forrest E.) Chancellor, Amherst, and Helen (Mrs. Maurice) McClain, Cheyenne, Wyoming; one brother, Frank Stark, Plainview, Nebraska; one sister, Mrs. Emma Spath, Inman, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
 
 
 
FRIDA (ERDMAN) REHFELD

AGED WOMAN AT AMHERST CALLED BY DEATH MONDAY
 
Mrs. August Rehfeld died at her home Monday morning at the age of 81 years, having been born in Damerow, Germany March 12, 1843. Mrs. Rehfeld came to American in 1872 and was married September 15 of that year to August Rehfeld at Waterloo, Wisconsin. They lived there a year, moving to West Point, Nebraska where the Rehfelds made their home for 32 years. In 1908 they came to Holyoke and lived here until 1919 when they moved to Amherst, their home since that time.
 
The funeral services were held at Amherst Wednesday and the remains were laid to rest in the Amherst cemetery.
 
Mrs. Rehfeld is survived by her aged husband, two sons Ernest and William and a daughter, Auguste; three brothers and one sister, August Erdman of Amherst; F.F. Erdman of Los Angeles, California. The other brother and sister live in Germany.

WILLIAM REHFELD RITES AT AMHERST
 
Last rites for William C. Rehfeld of Amherst will be held at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. The service will be in charge of Rev. Theodore Schauland, pastor of the church. Interment will be in the Amherst Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.
 
Mr. Rehfeld passed away at 9:00 o'clock Monday morning at Mercy hospital in Denver, where he had been a patient seven weeks. He had been in failing health for some time and had been seriously ill the last three and one-half months. He was 74 years old. During the last few months he had been a patient in hospitals at Julesburg and Denver much of the time.
 
The son of August and Frida Erdman Rehfeld, William C. Rehfeld was born on July 3, 1879, at Plainview, Nebraska. He grew to manhood in that community and on December 10, 1903, he was united in marriage to Anna Stark at Plainview.
 
In 1908 the Rehfelds moved from Plainview to Holyoke and they resided here for ten years. They moved to Amherst in 1918, to Ovid in 1930, to Sterling in 1943, and back to Amherst in 1951. Mr. Rehfeld was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a section worker and crossing flagman for a number of years.
 
Surviving are Mrs. Rehfeld; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Chancellor, Amherst, and Mrs. Helen McClain, Cheyenne, Wyoming; four sons, Arthur, Hans, Harold and Gerald Rehfeld, all of Denver; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Rehfeld was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Amherst.
