AUGUSTA RADTKE

HOLD SERVICES FOR MRS. RADTKE
 
Aged Amherst Woman Had Been Resident Of County Since 1912
 
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Amherst for Mrs. Augusta Radtke who died Sunday at the home of her son, William Radtke, near Amherst. Death was due to pneumonia. Mrs. Radtke was 75 years of age and had been a resident of Phillips County since 1912.
 
Mrs. Radtke was born in Naujard, Germany, December 14, 1856 and was married to Ferdinand Radtke in 1880. The family came to the United States in 1901, settling in Pierce County, Nebraska where they made their home until 1912 when they came to Phillips County. Mr. Radtke died in 1917.
 
Mrs. Radtke is survived by two sons, William of Amherst and Carl of Holyoke and one daughter, Louise of Amherst, besides a number of grandchildren.
 
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.W. Wilk, pastor of the Amherst church, and burial was made in the Amherst cemetery.
 
 
ELIZABETH (NAGEL) RADTKE

MRS. WILLIAM RADTKE RITES JANUARY 11
 
Funeral services were held from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Amherst, Tuesday, January 11, 1972, for Elizabeth Radtke, 73, who passed away Saturday, January 8, at Melissa Memorial Hospital.
 
Rev. Theo Schauland, pastor of the church officiated at the services. Interment was in the Amherst Cemetery. Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
 
Elizabeth Radtke, daughter of William and Elizabeth Nagel, was born in Worms, Russia on December 25, 1898. She had five brothers and sisters In 1911 she came to this country with her brother, Adam, and her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bender and settled in Albion, Nebraska. In 1912 they moved to Moorefield, Nebraska.
 
December 15, 1920, she was married to William Radtke at Moorefield, Nebraska. They came to Colorado in the same year and started farming at Amherst. They have been living in the town of Amherst since 1945.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Radtke celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in December 1970. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Laura and Ella. She is survived by her husband, William, her son Reinhold of Amherst, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
 
 
R.W. “REINY” RADTKE
 
Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, June 13, 1997
 
R.W. “Reiny” Radtke, age 70 of Holyoke, passed away Friday, May 31, 1996 at his home. He was born on July 4, 1925 at the family farm in Amherst, the son of Wilhelm John and Elizabeth (Nagel) Radtke.
 
Reiny lived most of his life on the family farm in Amherst. He moved to Holyoke in 1992 and resided there until his death. He attended parochial school in Amherst and graduated from Phillips County High School with the class of 1943. He was a lifetime farmer and rancher and worked for Brown’s Auction Service and also for the Ranchland Livestock Company in Wray.
 
During World War II Reiny served his country for two years in the United States Navy. He received his boot training at Farragut, Idaho, and was then stationed at Treasure Island, California. He served aboard the U.S.S. Willard Keith and was in a freighter convoy that sailed to Pearl Harbor. He fought at Okinawa and was in the thick of war battles for 10 months.
 
Reiny Radtke and Vona Woodmancy were united in marriage on May 4, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. To this union four children were born. Vona preceded him in death on November 12, 1990. He was united in marriage to Lu Helgoth on February 1, 1992 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
 
He was very active in the community. He was a past president of the V.F.W., served on the Co-op Oil Board; a leader with the Amherst Ag 4-H; an active member with the Amherst Fire Department, Farm Bureau, Farmer’s Union, Northeast Colorado Cattlemen’s Association and the Holyoke Golf Club. He was a two-term Phillips County Commissioner and an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
 
Reiny Radtke is preceded in death by both parents, Wilhelm and Elizabeth Radtke; his wife, Vona Radtke; two sisters, Laura Radtke and Ella McQueen; granddaughter, LeAnn Radtke; and grandson, Paul Krumm.
 
He is survived by his wife, Lu Radtke of Holyoke, five children: Richard Radtke of Panorama City, California, Carol and husband Gary Krumm of Holyoke, Randy Radtke of Sterling, Amy and husband Allen Einspahr of Holyoke and Randy and wife Deb Helgoth of Holyoke; 13 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for R.W. “Reiny” Radtke were conducted on Monday, June 3, 1996 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. Pastor Harold Rathjen of Amherst was officiant with Pastor Gary Rahe of Holyoke assisting. Interment was made at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Amherst.

Vona HELEN (WOODMANCY) RADTKE

Vona Helen (Woodmancy) Radtke passed away on November 12, 1990 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver from lung cancer.
 
Vona, the daughter of John and Edith Woodmancy, was born January 27, 1926 on a farm south of Venango, Nebraska. The family moved to Holyoke where she attended the Holyoke schools. She graduated from Phillips County High School in 1943. Following graduation she moved to Denver where she worked until returning to Holyoke prior to getting married.
 
Vona was united in marriage to Reinhold Radtke on May 4, 1947 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. To this union four children were born, Richard, Carol, Randy and Amy. Following their marriage they lived in Holyoke. In 1948 they moved from Holyoke to the farm southeast of Amherst. They lived and farmed there up to the time of Vona's death.
 
Vona was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst on June 8, 1948. She remained an active member of St. Paul’s until the time of her death.
 
Vona was actively involved in church and community activities. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Ladies Aid and the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Holyoke. In addition, she enjoyed hobbies of bowling, golf and playing cards. She also loved her family dearly and delighted in the time she could spend with them.
 
Vona was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Woodmancy; four brothers, Virgil, LeRoy, Warren and Jack Woodmancy; one sister, June Schrage; granddaughter, LeAnn Radtke; and a step-grandson, Paul Krumm.
 
Vona is survived by her husband, Reinhold of Amherst, three brothers, Wayne Woodmancy of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Vern Woodmancy of Grant, Nebraska and Harvey Woodmancy of Salt Lake City, Utah; three sisters, LaVern Brown of Holyoke, Signa Ward of Aurora and Irene Elder of Kent, Washington; four children, Richard of North Hollywood, California, Carol and husband Gary Krumm of Holyoke, Randy of Sterling and Amy and husband Allen Einspahr of Holyoke; 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Funeral services were held November 15, 1990, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. Rev. John Larson and Rev. Gary Rahe officiated. Burial was in the Amherst Cemetery.
 
 
 
WILHELM JOHN RADTKE

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 3, 1974, from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Amherst, for Wilhelm John Radtke, 86, who passed away Sunday, March 31, at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke.
 
Wilhelm John Radtke, son of Ferdinand and Augusta Wendorf Radtke, was born December 30, 1887, at Hinterpomer, Germany. He had one brother, Carl, and one sister, Louise. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
 
He came to this country with his parents in 1901. They arrived at Pierce, Nebraska in May of that year. In 1904 they moved to Osmond, Nebraska. In 1912, with his parents, he moved to Amherst.
 
December 15, 1920 he was married to Elizabeth Nagel at Moorefield, Nebraska. They returned to the farm at Amherst to make their home. In 1945 they moved into Amherst. Mr. and Mrs. Radtke celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary in December 1970.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Laura and Ella; a brother, Carl and a great granddaughter, LeAnn. He is survived by his son, Reinhold, Amherst; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

CARL RADTKE 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, October 22, 1964 

CARL RADTKE, 82, DIES; FUNERAL AT LUTHERAN CHURCH 

Last rites were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke for Carl August Radtke, 82, on Tuesday afternoon, October 20, with the Rev. Theodore Schauland of Amherst officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home. 

Carl August Radtke, the son of Ferdinand Radtke and Augusta Wendorf Radtke, was born on May 6, 1882, in Naugard, Germany, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. His confirmation took place on March 29, 1896, in Cortzig, Germany. He came to America in May, 1910, and began farming at Pierce, Nebraska. On November 25, 1909 he was united in marriage with Frieda Eichele. Three daughters and one son were born to this union. 

The Radtkes moved to Colorado in 1909 where farming operations were continued at Amherst. They moved in 1912 to the Pleasant Valley community where they resided until moving to Holyoke in 1949. 

Mr. Radtke was a charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Amherst, which was organized in 1910. He had been in failing health for about four months and passed away last Friday evening, October 16, in an ambulance enroute to the hospital in Sterling. 

Mr. Radtke was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Mable, who passed away in 1924. Survivors include his wife, Frieda; two daughters, Edna, Mrs. Frank Souders of Keenesberg; Marguerite, Mrs. John Triplett of Holyoke; and one son, Floyd, of Holyoke; one sister, Louise Radtke, Holyoke; one brother, William Radtke, Amherst; and six grandchildren. 

 

FLOYD “PETE” CARL RADTKE 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, October 13, 1993 

Floyd “Pete” Carl Radtke of Holyoke was born January 3, 1915 in Holyoke to Carl A. and Freida Eichle Radtke. He passed away Thursday, September 29, 1994 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. 

Pete, a lifelong resident of Holyoke, worked all his life as a farmer. He farmed with the family until 1949 at which time he moved to town. He worked for area farmers until his retirement in the early 1970s.

He enjoyed fishing, flower gardening and liked to go for rides in the truck with Sugar Triplette. Pete enjoyed helping others and assisting fellow residents at SunSet View by taking them places and helping them with errands. He was especially fond of playing cards at SunSet View. Pete was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holyoke, where he had been a greeter and an usher for many years. 

He is survived by his nieces and nephews including Charlie and Sugar Triplette and Steve and Betsy Triplette and cousin Reiny Radtke of Holyoke. 

Services were held Monday, October 3 at the First Baptist Church of Holyoke with Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Holyoke. 

 

FRIEDA (EICHELE) RADTKE 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, April 28, 1977 

FRIEDA RADTKE RITES APRIL 27 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 27, 1977, from the United Methodist church in Holyoke for Frieda S. Radtke, who passed away Saturday, April 23, at Melissa Memorial Hospital. Rev. Eldon Shoemaker officiated at the services. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. 

Freida Sophia Radtke, daughter of Carl and Minnie Eichele, was born January 22, 1891, in Phillips County, Colorado. She and Carl August Radtke were married November 25, 1909. They farmed in the Amherst area until moving to Pleasant Valley in 1912 where they resided until moving t Holyoke in 1949. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Radtke, and her daughters Mabel Radtke, Edna Souders, and Margaret H. Triplette. 

She is survived by a son, Floyd Radtke of Holyoke; granddaughters, Doris Meyers of Wilsonville, Nebraska, Linda Baumgartner of Keensburg, Mary Miller of Kersey, Vianna Linnebur of Roggin, Rosalie Hoffman of Santanta, Kansas, grandsons Chuck and Steve Triplette of Holyoke, and 18 great grandchildren.
