ERVIN ALBERT KRUEGER (INFANT)

DEATH CLAIMS YOUNG SON MR. AND MRS. A.F. KRUEGER

Ervin Albert, the year and eight months old son of Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Krueger of Amherst died at the family home last Friday night. The cause of the death was convulsions.

The funeral was held Monday at Amherst from the Lutheran church, Rev. Otto Hoyer conducting the services.

IDA KRUEGER RITES JUNE 21

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 21, 1975, from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Amherst, for Ida E. Krueger, 83, who passed away Wednesday, June 18, at Melissa Memorial Hospital, in Holyoke. Rev. Theo Schauland, minister of the church, officiated at the services. Interment was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Amherst.

Ida E. Krueger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Van Boening, was born at Glenville, Nebraska on June 20, 1892. She was baptized in infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was married to Simon Krueger on October 22, 1913, in her father's home at Rosemont, Nebraska. They lived on a farm north of Blue Hill, Nebraska until 1930. The family moved to Colorado on March 6, to a farm three miles east and two south of Amherst. There four of the younger sons were born. Mr. and Mrs. Krueger retired and moved to Holyoke in 1960. Ida spent her last three years at Sheridan Manor nursing home.

Preceding her in death were her parents; five brothers, Harm, Simon, Clause, George, and Ralph; one sister, Elizabeth [Mrs. Paul Krueger], all of Blue Hill, Nebraska; and a son, Andrew, age 10 years and eight months.

The proud mother of 11 children, she is survived by her husband, Simon; her children, Leona Brinkema, Chester, and William of Holyoke, Lucia Vieselmeyer, Eunice Oltjenbruns, Russell, and Jay Dean of Amherst, Laurine Ackerman of Portland, Oregon, Ida Nierman of Grand Junction, and Daniel of Arvada; 39 grandchildren; [end missing]


JOYCE A. (RODEMAN) KRUEGER

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, CO, June 4, 1998

Joyce A. Krueger, age 69, of Holyoke, passed away at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on May 29, 1998. Joyce was born on April 20, 1929 in Holyoke to Leonard and Lenore (Folker) Rodeman in Holyoke. She grew up and went to school in Amherst, where Joyce lived most of her life. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst.

Joyce married Burdet Krueger in 1947, and to this union four children were born, Niles, Cheryl, Lonnie and Tami. She carried mail in rural Amherst for approximately 13 years. Joyce moved to Holyoke in December 1996. She enjoyed reading, bingo and cards, needlework and puzzles.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Burdet; and parents, Leonard and Lenore Rodeman.

She is survived by her children, Niles Krueger and wife Maggie of Greeley; Cheryl Rundall; Lonnie Krueger and wife Shirley; and Tami Harshbarger and husband Mark, all of Holyoke; grandchildren Michael, Chantae, Cassandra, Chris, Sara, Lucas and Treant; brother Keith Rodeman and wife Shirley of Amherst; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

AMHERST WOMAN DIED WEDNESDAY

Had Moved to Amherst from Blue Hill, Nebr. But Two Weeks Ago

Mrs. Myrtle Mae Krueger of Amherst died at a local hospital Wednesday noon from the effects of a premature childbirth. Funeral services will be held at Amherst Saturday and burial will be at that place.

Mrs. Krueger together with her husband, George F. Krueger, moved to the Logan Spelts farm just south of Amherst but about two weeks ago, coming from Blue Hill, Nebraska. Mr. Krueger is a cousin to Albert Krueger of that community. Mrs. Krueger was born at Campbell, Nebraska on June 15, 1891 and was past 38 years of age at the time of her death. She leaves a large family of children.

Although practically a stranger in this territory the few people with whom she became acquainted speak very highly of the fine qualities demonstrated by Mrs. Krueger in their short acquaintance.


RUSSELL SIMON ANTON KRUEGER

Russell Simon Anton Krueger, 77, of Amherst died December 24, 2007 at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke.

He was born October 5, 1930 on the farm at Amherst to Simon and Ida (Van Boening) Krueger. He graduated from Phillips County High School and attended NJC in Sterling.

Russell married Donna Martin in Kearney, Nebraska on December 31, 1951. They lived southeast of Holyoke in the sand hills until 1956. At that time, they moved to Crook. In 1964, they moved to a farm and ranch near Loma, and in 1967 they moved back to Amherst and made their home there until Russell passed away.

He spent his life as a farmer and rancher. He loved working the soil and watching the crops grow. Russell took pride in his cow herd and also in his hog operation until ill health forced him to retire. He was baptized in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst and remained a member of the Lutheran Church wherever he was. He served in all the offices of the church over the years and was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir for many years.

Russell is survived by wife Donna; sons Brian and wife Kay of Greeley, Nolan and wife Joyce of Amherst and Gary and wife Dianna of Denton, Texas; daughter Marsha Mueller and husband Kevin of Ogallala, Nebraska; brothers William and wife Glenda of Valentine, Nebraska, Jay Dean and wife Joyce of Holyoke and Daniel and wife Carol of Larkspur; sisters Laurine Ackerman of Hillsboro, Oregon, Ida Nierman of Lakewood and Eunice Oltjenbruns and husband Elton of Holyoke.

Grandchildren Melissa Warner of Sterling, Leslie Hart of Eureka, California, Dawn Lazear and Samantha Krueger of Vancouver, Washington, Jessica Smith and Shawn Krueger of Iliff, Kristopher Krueger of Sidney, Nebraska, Ashley Krueger of Amherst, Kerstin Krueger of Loveland, Kathryn Krueger and Samantha Parrish of Denton, Texas and Teran and Justin Mueller of Ogallala, Nebraska; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Andrew and Chester, and sisters Leona Brinkema and Lucia Vieselmeyer. Funeral service was December 29 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst with Pastor Alan Borcher officiating. Burial followed at Amherst Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Northeast Zone LLL Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 7, Amherst, CO 80721. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Gerk Funeral Home in Holyoke.


ALBERT F. KRUEGER

RITES AT AMHERST FOR A.F. KRUEGER, PIONEER RESIDENT

Memorial services for Albert F. Krueger of Denver, longtime resident of the Amherst community, were conducted Tuesday morning, March 22, at Olinger's mortuary in Denver and last rites were held Wednesday morning, March 23, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. Interment was at the Amherst cemetery. Rev. W.G. Polack of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Denver officiated at both services.

Mr. Krueger, who was 86 years of age, passed away March 20 at Lutheran Hospital in Denver following an illness of little more than a month. He suffered a stroke and then developed double pneumonia. Mr. Krueger's home in Denver was at 2541 Wolff Street. He was the father of Mrs. Oscar Beal, Amherst, and a brother of Simon Krueger, Holyoke.

A son of William and Elizabeth Renken Krueger, Albert F. Krueger was born May 28, 1879, at Crete, Nebraska and was reared and educated at Blue Hill, Nebraska. On March 6, 1904, he was united in marriage to Alvina Sommerfeld. To this union nine children were born.

Mr. Krueger was a pioneer farmer in Phillips County. He and a brother, Tony, started breaking sod in Colorado in the summer of 1917, living in a tent while much of the area was still free-range cattle country, and they continued in this occupation for the next two summers. In 1919, Mr. Krueger brought his wife and five small daughters with him and they made their home for a time in a four-wheel, two-room cook shack.

He built a home near the old Ed Butterfield ranch and moved his family there in 1920. Mr. Krueger farmed through the hardships of the dust bowl days in the 1930s.

He was a member of the building committee of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst and also helped build Bethlehem Lutheran Church after moving to Denver in 1940. He was engaged in the construction business in Denver for some time. Mr. Krueger was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Denver.

Mrs. Krueger preceded her husband in death on May 27, 1961. Also preceding him in death was his oldest daughter, Mrs. Evaline Butterfield, who passed away on February 13, 1966, and an infant son, Ervin.

Among those surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Frieda Beal, Amherst, Mrs. Irma Gruenwald, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Rosette Brinkman and Mrs. Lenore Farr, Denver, and Mrs. Gertrude Powell, Lakewood; two sons, Alvin, Cypress, California and Albert Jr., Lakewood; three brothers, Simon Krueger, Holyoke, William Krueger, Dallas, Texas, and Tony Krueger, Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Mrs. Tena Rodman, Colorado Springs, and Mrs. Charlotte Vogel, Kansas City, Kansas; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.


ALVINA DORA (SOMMERFELD) KRUEGER

MRS. A.F. KRUEGER RITES AT AMHERST

Funeral services for Mrs. A.F. Krueger of Denver, formerly of Amherst, were held Monday morning, May 29, at Olinger’s mortuary in Denver and at 2:30 that afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. Rev. W.H. Remmert of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lakewood, was in charge of the services. Rev. Theodore Schauland, pastor of the Amherst Lutheran Church officiated at the graveside service. Interment was at the Amherst cemetery.

Mrs. Krueger passed away Saturday, May 27, at her home at 2541 Wolff Street in Denver following a long illness. She was 77 years of age.

As Alvina Dora Sommerfeld, Mrs. Krueger was born April 16, 1884 in Marshall County, near Varna, Illinois. She was baptized by Rev. A. Sippel at Varna and was confirmed at La Rose, Illinois. While still a young girl she moved to Blue Hill, Nebraska with her parents. On March 6, 1904, she was united in marriage to A.F. Krueger at Blue Hill. Mr. Krueger started farming seven miles southeast of Amherst in 1917, and brought his family to that farm in 1920. Mr. and Mrs. Krueger left the farm and moved to Denver in 1940. Mrs. Krueger was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood.

Survivors include her husband, A.F. Krueger; two sons, Alvin Krueger, Anaheim, California and Albert Krueger Jr., Long Beach, California; six daughters, Evaline (Mrs. Harvey Butterfield), Arvada, Frieda (Mrs. Oscar Beal), Amherst, Irma (Mrs. Alvin Gruenwald), Dallas, Texas, Rosette (Mrs. Fred Brinkman), Lenore (Mrs. Vern Farr), and Gertrude (Mrs. Frank Powell), all of Denver; three brothers, John Sommerfeld, Hastings, Nebraska, Carl Sommerfeld, Blue Hill, Nebraska, and Ernest Sommerfeld, Wray; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Johnson, Hastings, Nebraska and Mrs. Anna Meyer, Blue Hill, Nebraska; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Preceding Mrs. Krueger in death was one son, Ervin Albert, who died when a small child.

RITES HELD FOR AMHERST YOUTH

Andrew Krueger Dies In Haxtun Hospital After Brief Illness

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church at Amherst Monday afternoon for Andrew Albert Krueger, ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Krueger of Amherst. The youth had passed away last Friday at a Haxtun hospital, where he had been taken Thursday for medical attention after having become suddenly ill last Wednesday. He submitted to an operation for ruptured appendix on Thursday evening, but peritonitis had set in, and he died Friday morning.

Andrew was born May 23, 1925, north of Blue Hill, Nebraska in Adams County. He was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Blue Hill on June 21, 1925. The family moved to Colorado March 6, 1930, and he began his schooling in the Lutheran school in Amherst that fall.

He is survived by his parents, by five sisters, Leona, Mrs. Harry Brinkema, Lucia, Laurine, Ida and Eunice, four brothers, Chester, Russell, William and Jay Dean, his aged grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Krueger of Hastings, Nebraska, and many other relatives.

Rev. Elmer M. Strelow officiated at the funeral services Monday. A brief service was held at the Krueger home before the rites at the church. Interment was made in the Amherst Cemetery.


BURDET KRUEGER

BURDET KRUEGER RITES OCT. 10

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 10, 1979 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Amherst for Burdet C. Krueger, 56, who passed away October 6, 1979 at Porter Memorial Hospital in Denver. Pastor Gerald Werth officiated at the service. Interment was in the Amherst Cemetery.

Burdet was born in Amherst September 9, 1923, to Otto and Augusta Krueger. He was baptized and confirmed into St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Amherst. He attended grade school in the Amherst area and went to High School in Holyoke, where he graduated in 1942. He married Joyce A. Rodeman and to this union four children were born, Niles, Cheryl Rundall, Lonnie and Tami. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce, two sons, Niles and Lonnie, two daughters, Cheryl and Tami, daughters-in-law Linda and Shirley, grandsons Christopher and Michael, his father, Otto, brother, LeRoy and wife Eunice, sister, Loretta and husband Gary Cranwell, nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
