GEORGE HEGINBOTHAM RITES HELD HERE; 79-YEAR RESIDENT
George B. Heginbotham, 83, well known retired businessman who had
resided in Holyoke since early childhood, passed away Thursday evening,
November 23, Thanksgiving Day, at Melissa Memorial Hospital here.
Mr. Heginbotham had been in failing health for three months and was
twice hospitalized at the Presbyterian Hospital in Denver and at the
local hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m.
Monday, November 27, at the Holyoke Methodist church, with Rev. Gerald
Dingman officiating. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. The Lewis
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A son of John B. and
Melissa E. Heginbotham, George B. Heginbotham was born October 26, 1884,
in Brooklyn, Iowa. He moved to Holyoke with his parents in 1888 and
received his early education in the Holyoke schools. Later he attended
the military academy in Kearney, Nebraska.
Mr. Heginbotham,
along with is father and brother, W.E. Heginbotham, was engaged in
banking here for a number of years. He entered the automobile business
with his brother-in-law, George F. Garland, in 1918, continuing in that
for some time, and he also had farming interests in this community.
On January 1, 1911, Mr. Heginbotham was united in marriage to Blanche
Garland of Holyoke. To this union was born one son, Max, who preceded
his father in death in 1957. Mrs. Heginbotham passed away in 1954.
Mr. Heginbotham became a member of the Holyoke Methodist church on
November 11, 1900. Following his marriage, he attended the Baptist
church with his wife, who was a member of that church. He was also a
member of the Masonic lodge during his active years.
Survivors
include one brother, W.E. Heginbotham, Holyoke; one sister, Mrs. Jennie
Paul, Denver; two grandchildren, John Heginbotham, Newcastle, Wyoming
and Mrs. Phil Lockwood; two great grandchildren; one niece, Mrs. Leah
TeBockhurst, Denver, and many friends.

DIES; LAST RITES SUNDAY
Mrs. George B. Heginbotham, well known
and highly esteemed Holyoke lady who spent most of her life in this
community, passed away early Friday morning at the Phillips County
Hospital where she had been a patient one week. She had been in poor
health for sometime. Mrs. Heginbotham was 69 years old.
Funeral
services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Holyoke Baptist
church, with Rev. Alvah C. Lynch officiating. Interment was in Holyoke
Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Heginbotham's parents were charter members of the local
Baptist church and Mrs. Heginbotham became a member of that church at an
early age. She was active in church work for many years. In addition to
her church activities she was a member of Fidelis club, P.E.O.
Sisterhood and Order of the Eastern Star.
As Blanche Garland,
the daughter of George W. and Arpy (Gillaspey) Garland, Mrs. Heginbotham
was born May 8, 1885, at Chariton, Iowa. The family moved to Holyoke in
1888 and she grew to womanhood here, attending the local schools and
being graduated with the first senior class of Phillip s County High
School in 1906.
She taught school in this community for a time
after her graduation from high school, later leaving that position to
accept a position as clerk at the Golden Rule store.
On January
1, 1911 she was united in marriage to George B. Heginbotham. To this
union was born one son, Max, who now resides on a ranch south of
Holyoke.
Surviving Mrs. Heginbotham are her husband; the son,
already mentioned; a brother, George F. Garland; two grandchildren, John
and Diana Heginbotham; and a number of other relatives and many friends.

of the illness and death of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. We
wish to especially thank Dr. Means, Dr. Dille and Dr. Ralston; the PEO
Sisterhood; the Baptist Ladies' aid, the blood donor, Mrs. George A.
Barker, and those who volunteered to give blood; the nurses and hospital
staff; those who sent flowers and cards; and those who visited the
hospital. Your thoughtfulness was deeply appreciated. -
