Mary Anna Gibbs, 73, Haxtun, passed away on February 12, 2004.
 
She was born to Roy and Nellie (Foster) Harrah on November 24, 1930 at their home eight miles northeast of Imperial, Nebraska. She was delivered by her father and Ethel Ridlen, their neighbor. She grew up and received her early education in Nebraska schools. The family moved to Haxtun in 1942. Mary finished sixth through eighth grades at Daily and graduated from Fleming High School in 1949.
 
Mary married Wayne Alden Gibbs on November 28, 1949 and the couple settled in the Rockland community. She was active in the Tuesday Ladies Bible Study and attended the Haxtun Gospel Chapel. She claimed the most significant event in her life occurred October 5, 1947, when she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.
 
Survivors include her husband; four children, Margie and husband Chuck Eaton, Wichita, Kansas, Dennis and wife Kathleen Gibbs, Blue Springs, Missouri, Arlyn and wife Yolanda Gibbs, Sterling, and Raymond and wife Brenda Gibbs, Akron; two sisters, Margaret Secrist, Haxtun, and Letha Harris, Imperial, Nebraska. Nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family also survive her.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russel Harrah; and granddaughter, Jessica Ann Gibbs.
 
Funeral services were held Monday, February 16, 2004, at the Berean Church with Ben and Paul Parmer officiating. Burial followed in the Haxtun Cemetery.
