Vol1 No. 6

Commissioner Jacob Furry was born October 6 1829 in Treble County Ohio but emigrated to Carrol County Indiana, when he was 6 years old.

One the 14th of April 1850 he was joined in bonds of holy matrimony with Eleanor Overholter of the same state and county and which union was blessed with four children – three sons and one daughter.

He was left a widower in February 22, 1860 by the death of his beloved wife. On the 6th of January 1861 he was again joined in wedlock with Sarah J Fisher of Franklin County Virginia, who now in deep sorrow survives him. The second marriage was blessed with nine children- six sons and three daughters, all living.

He afterwards lived in Illinois for several years and removed from there to Nebraska where he stayed some fourteen years and two years ago he moved to Logan County Colorado.

Soon after his first marriage he united with the German Baptist Church in which he has always lived a faithful Christian life, serving the church in his last years as a deacon.

On the 24th of August he was taken with Typhoid Fever with which he struggled until the third of October 1887 when he died, being three day less fifty-eight years old.

He was always a kind and affectionate husband and a loving father. He lived an exemplary, useful Christian life until called from his earthly labors to his heavenly reward.
