Gustav
Bernard K. Franson, the son of Franz and Amanda Svenson
Carlson, was born May 21, 1892 in Savsjo Smaland, Sweden. He attended
school in Sweden.
On March 9, 1912, he came to the United States
to the Harvard, NE area and lived there until April of 1918 when he
entered the United States Army. During his time in the service, he was
stationed at Camp Funston and later at Ft. Riley, KS. Following his
discharge September 17, 1919, he came to Haxtun to farm with his uncle,
Sander Stedt.
On April 12, 1936, he married Linnea Sandquist at
the home of her parents in Holyoke. They made their home on a farm in
the Fairfield community. Linnea passed away in August of 1940. Mr.
Franson married Mae Skipworth in Holyoke on February 24, 1946. He
continued to farm until 1959. In 1966 they retired to Holyoke.
Mr. Franson attended the Fairfield Covenant Church.
Survivors
include his wife Mae Franson of Holyoke; his daughter Mrs. Harold
[Astrid] Hadeen of Holyoke; three grandchildren; seven great
grandchildren; one brother Karl Franson of Sweden and one niece and one
nephew in Sweden.

FUNERAL SERVICES THURSDAY FOR MRS. BERNARD FRANSON
Daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Sandquist Died Monday Morning
Mrs. Bernard
Franson, age 32, a resident of the Fairfield community, passed away at
Holyoke early Monday morning. Mrs. Franson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Sandquist, died at the home of her parents following a long
illness. She was a beloved and highly respected resident of her
community.
Funeral services will be held at the Fairfield church
Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. H. Leo Taylor of Holyoke will
conduct the services, and interment will be in the Holyoke cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Radford Funeral Home of Haxtun.

Mable
Linnea Sandquist Franson (nee Linnea Sandquist) was born
September 7, 1907, at Sumner, Nebraska and moved with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Sandquist, to Holyoke, Colorado in 1909, where she grew to
womanhood.
She attended the public schools and was baptized and
confirmed at the Swedish Mission Church in the Fairfield community. On
April 12, 1936 she was united in marriage to Mr. Bernard Franson and to
this union one daughter was born.
Mrs. Franson passed away at
the home of her parents at Holyoke after a long illness August 19, 1940,
at the age of 32 years 11 months and 12 days.
Mrs. Franson
leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband and little daughter
Astrid, and her parents and many other relatives and friends.
She was a kind and loving mother and loved by all who knew her.
Quietly she lived and quietly she passed away.

Mae
G. Franson, 98, died at the Heritage Living Center, Haxtun, on Friday,
November 26, 1999. A 1 p.m. funeral service was held on Monday, November
29, at the Fairfield Covenant Church with the Rev. Tom Ervasti
officiating. Burial followed at the Holyoke Memorial Park.
Mae
was born on March 1, 1901, at Marquette, NE. She was the daughter of
William and Laura [Jones] Skipworth.
Much of Mae's life was
spent helping her father on various farms. They lived and worked as
housekeepers in homes. On February 24, 1946, she married Bernard Franson
and became an instant mother to his seven-year-old daughter. In addition
to being an avid gardener, Mae loved learning, music, and her family.
She was a member of the Holyoke Nazarene Church, and was also
active in the Fairfield Covenant Church while she lived in the Fairfield
Community.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Hadeen and
husband Harold; a sister, Alta Ruch, Holyoke; a brother, Kenneth
Skipworth, Sterling; two granddaughters, Ruth Collier, Haxtun, and Mary
Ditter, Fort Morgan; a grandson, Steve Hadeen, Haxtun, and a number of
nieces and nephews. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard, and
her brother William.
