ELLIS RITES HELD HERE
Funeral services for Harold O. Ellis of
Denver, once a resident of Holyoke, were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday
at the Holyoke Methodist church. Officiating minister was Rev. Peter
Friesen of Denver. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park.
Mr. Ellis, who was 57
years of age, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, May 14. Death was
attributed to a heart attack. He had sustained an attack on May 13,
1964, at Salina, Kansas and later suffered two more attacks.
The
son of Ray H. and Celeste Miller Ellis, Harold Orien Ellis was born
January 13, 1910, at York, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood. He came
to Phillips County in 1929 and was employed at the Paoli State Bank for
a time. On December 3, 1932, he was united in marriage to Anna Mae
Hargreaves in Holyoke. To this union four children were born, who
survive.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis lived in Holyoke for about a year
and then moved to Golden and Mr. Ellis was employed by Remington Arms
and was also an accountant for the Golden Fire Brick Company for several
years. In 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis moved to Leadville, where Mr. Ellis
owned and operated a mobile home park. Because the altitude was
injurious to his health, he and his wife moved to Salina, Kansas in
1960, managing a large mobile home park and mobile home sales and
service business until returning to Denver in September 1966.
Mr. Ellis was a member of the York, Nebraska EUB church, Leadville
Masonic Lodge, Isis Shrine temple, Salina Consistory, Askelon Commandery
and RAM chapter, all of Salina, and Ellsworth R & SM council, Ellsworth,
Kansas.
He is survived by his widow, Anna Mae; two sons, Thomas,
Denver and James, Golden; two daughters, Billie (Mrs. Eugene) Maize,
Wheatridge, and Beverly (Mrs. Ralph) McCune, Riverside, California; one
sister, Mrs. Dama Herbst, York, Nebraska; eight grandchildren and many
