DONALD L. CORDREY RITES HERE MONDAY
Donald L. Cordrey, 53, of
Phoenix, Arizona, who resided in this community for 25 years, passed
away Thursday morning February 17, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix
following a long period of Illness.
Funeral services were held
Saturday afternoon at the A.L. Moore & Sons Mortuary in Phoenix and at
1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 21, at the Holyoke Christian Church.
Officiating at the services here was James Dobyns, minister of the local
Christian church. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park, with
arrangements in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home.
A son of
Emmett and Mollie (Fansher) Cordrey, Donald Leonard Cordrey was born May
23, 1912, near Forbes, Missouri and moved to the Holyoke community with
his parents in 1918. He was graduated from Phillips County High School
here in 1932.
Mr. Cordrey moved to Phoenix in 1943 and resided
there until his death. He recently retired after being employed by
Sears, Roebuck & Co. for 20 years. He was never married.
His
father, Emmett Cordrey preceded him in death in 1947.
Survivors
include his mother, Mrs. Mollie Cordrey, Holyoke; two brothers, Russell,
Holyoke, and Willard, Phoenix, Arizona; four sisters Mrs. Irene
Sheffield, Denver, Miss Pauline Cordrey and Betty, Mrs. Leonard Baumert,
both of Holyoke, and Mrs. Thelma Boyd, Albion, Michigan; four nieces,
four nephews, one great-niece; and many other relatives and friends.
