W.P. BRYAN DIES; SERVICES TODAY
William P. Bryan, a resident of Holyoke most of the time for 19 years, died Sunday at a hospital in McAllen, Texas, where he went several weeks ago to spend the winter. He was 75 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon at the Lewis Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Stanley Bouchard, pastor of the Holyoke First Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be at Holyoke Memorial Park.
William Parker Bryan, son of William P. and Clara Price Bryan, was born August 31, 1880, in Marion County, Kansas. He moved with his parents to York County, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood.
On December 21, 1910, he was united in marriage to Sofie K. Hanson of Hampton, Nebraska. They resided near Stoneham, Colorado, for three years while proving up on a homestead, then they moved to a farm near Chappell, Nebraska in 1913. They made their home near Chappell and in Chappell until moving to Holyoke in 1936.
Mr. Bryan owned and operated the Pioneer apartment house here for several years. Mrs. Bryan passed away August 1, 1949, and since that time Mr. Bryan had been spending the winters in McAllen, Texas, and the remainder of the year in Holyoke.
Surviving Mr. Bryan are one brother, Charles A. Bryan, Lincoln, Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah A. Browitt and Phoebe B. Bryan, also of Lincoln; four nieces and six nephews. One sister, Mrs. Julia A. Taylor, preceded him in death.
