LAMAR RESIDENT DIES IN HOLYOKE

Final Rites For Samuel Brunke Conducted Sunday Afternoon 

Funeral services were held in Holyoke Sunday afternoon for Samuel Brunke, Lamar, Nebraska resident, who died Friday afternoon in the Holyoke hospital, where he had been a patient 13 days. He became ill with pneumonia on November 13 and entered the hospital, complications having developed. He was 70 years, one month and 14 days old. 

The final rites were conducted at 2 o’clock at the Colver Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Fitzgerald of the Latter Day Saints church of Lamar, Nebraska, officiating. Burial was made in the Holyoke cemetery. Serving as the pallbearers were six members of the Holyoke Odd Fellows lodge. 

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brunke and children, Ernest, Helen and Minnie of Campbell, Nebraska, August Brunke of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grundietz of Colorado Springs. 

Samuel Brunke was born October 21, 1868 in Rockville, Grant County, Wisconsin, a son of Conrad and Regina Brunke. When he was 10 years old, he moved with his parents to Hickman, Nebraska. In 1887 he located at Campbell in Franklin County, Nebraska, where he made his home until 1916, when he moved to Holyoke and engaged in the blacksmith business. Mr. Brunke located at Lamar, Nebraska, March 25, 1921, where he opened a blacksmith shop and where he had since made his home. 

Deceased was a member of the Later Day Saints church of Lamar and the Holyoke Odd Fellows lodge. 

Surviving the late Mr. Brunke are four brothers, Henry Brunke of Campbell, Nebraska, August Brunke of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Ben and Louis Brunke of Colorado Springs; one sister, Mrs. Frank Grundietz of Colorado Springs; and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, J.C. and Joseph of Campbell, Nebraska and John Brunke of Craig, and two sisters, Mrs. May Siebrass of Amherst and Mrs. A.D. Gruben of Haxtun.
