EARLY RESIDENT OF PHILLIPS COUNTY DIED TUESDAY
 
Frank Brandt, resident of Phillips County since 1920, passed away at his home in Holyoke Tuesday, February 3, at the age of 84. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Baptist Church.
 
The marriage of Miss Marie Radtke and Frank Brandt was solemnized near Berlin in their native country, Germany, January 25, 1887. After spending one year in Germany the young couple sailed to America to establish their home. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary a week ago Sunday, January 25.

SERVICES HELD FOR HOLYOKE RESIDENT
 
Last rites were held Friday, February 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist church of Holyoke for Frank Brandt, age 85 years, who passed away at his home in Holyoke Tuesday February 3, 1948. Rev. Oliver W. Brock officiated the
ceremony. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Clifford Sharpe, Henry Brandt, Dewayne and Orville Brandt, James Scholl and Kenneth Brandt Goodman. Special music was furnished by the quartet from the choir of the Baptist church.
 
Frank Brandt was born November 28, 1863 in Berlin, Germany. He was united in marriage to Mary Radtke January 25, 1887. They emigrated to the United States in April 1888 and settled near Scribner, Nebraska. In 1910 the family moved to Gregory, South Dakota and resided there until the spring of 1920 when they moved to a farm north of Holyoke. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt retired from farming in 1926 and moved to Holyoke residing thee until his death February 3, 1948. Just prior to Mr. Brandt's death, Mr. and Mrs. Brandt had celebrated their sixty-first
wedding anniversary.
 
To this union was born nine children: Carl of Longmont, Colorado; Otto of Loveland, Colorado; William of Harvard, Nebraska; Mrs. Sol Rittel of Kadoka, South Dakota; Mrs. Kenneth Goodman of Canyon, Texas; Herbert Brandt, Mrs. John Detmer, and Mrs. J.G. Scholl of Holyoke. One child died in infancy. There were thirty-one grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
 
In boyhood Mr. Brandt was confirmed a member of the Lutheran church. He was a Sunday school teacher of the German Baptist church in Gregory, South Dakota for several years. Upon moving to Holyoke, he was a faithful supporter of the Baptist church. He was a kind, loving father, a good neighbor, and always willing to help others.
 
Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Goodman, Kenneth and Shirley and Dewayne Brandt of Canyon, Texas, William Brandt of Harvard, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Brandt and Edna of Loveland, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Brandt, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Sharpe and son Gene of Greeley, Norma Jean and Maxine Brandt students of Greeley College, and Henry Brandt and son Billy of Sterling. Carl Brandt of Longmont was unable to attend as he was en- * Sol Ritter was unable to be here due to illness.

MRS. MARY BRANDT DIES AT BRUSH; RITES SATURDAY
 
Mrs. Mary Brandt, who resided in the Holyoke community for 32 years, passed away Wednesday, January 5, at a home for the aged in Brush, Colorado. She was 88 years old.
 
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Holyoke Baptist Church, with Rev. Alvah C. Lynch officiating. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home.
 
As Mary Radtke, Mrs. Brandt was born October 6, 1866, near Berlin, Germany. She was united in marriage to Frank Brandt in Germany on January 25, 1887. They came to the United States in April, 1888, and settled near Albion,
Nebraska.
 
In 1910, the family moved to Gregory, South Dakota, where they resided until the spring of 1920, when they moved to a farm north of Holyoke. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt retired from the farm in 1926 and moved to Holyoke. Mr. Brandt passed away on February 3, 1948, and Mrs. Brandt continued to make her home in Holyoke until June 1, 1952, when she entered the home for the aged at Brush. In young womanhood Mrs. Brandt became a member of the Methodist church at Albion, Nebraska. She joined the Baptist church after moving here. Mrs. Brandt was the
oldest charter member of the Willing Helpers club of this community.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Brandt were the parents of nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Surviving are four sons, Carl Brandt, West Plains, Missouri, Otto Brandt, Loveland, Colorado, William Brandt, Giltner, Nebraska, and Herbert Brandt of Holyoke; four daughters, Mrs. Freda Detmer, new Plymouth, Idaho, Mrs. Ella Rittle, Kadoka, South Dakota, Mrs. Martha Goodman, Canyon, Texas, and Mrs. Augusta Scholl, Holyoke; thirty grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
 
Those from a distance who were here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Brandt and daughter, Edna, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Detmer, Loveland; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Brandt and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Sharp and son, Gene, Greeley; Mr. and Mrs. Sol Rittel, Kadoka, South Dakota; Miss Norma Jean Brandt, Denver; Mrs. Freda Detmer, New Plymouth, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Goodman and Dewayne Brandt, Canyon, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brandt and children, Shirley and Charles, Sterling; and William Brandt and sons, Dean and Delmer, Giltner, Nebraska.
