BALDERSON DIES; RITES THURS., CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Funeral services
were held Thursday, July 24, from the First Christian Church, Holyoke,
for James Freddie Balderson, 85, who passed away at Melissa Memorial
Hospital, Tuesday, July 22, 1969. He had been in failing health for
several months.
Rev. Don Gordon, minister of the church,
officiated. Burial was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in
charge of Thompson Mortuary, Holyoke.
James Freddie Balderson,
son of J.E. and Rebecca Balderson, was born October 25, 1883, at Firth,
Nebraska. When a small boy the family moved to Cortland, Nebraska, where
he grew to manhood.
On January 5, 1903 he was married to Phebe
Beatrice Bailey at Beatrice, Nebraska. They made their home near
Cortland until the spring of 1917 when they moved to Holyoke, here they
farmed and raised livestock for several years before moving to town. To
this union one son and three daughters were born.
He was
preceded in death by a daughter, Leota, one granddaughter, one grandson,
one great grandson, and one great granddaughter.
He is survived
by his wife, Phebe, two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Brown, Fleming, Mrs.
Goldie Kettley, Holyoke; a son, Earnest Balderson, Wray; two brothers,
Perl, Amherst, and Benson, Beatrice, Nebraska, ten grandchildren,
thirty-two great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren and a
host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 20, 1976 from the First
Christian church in Holyoke for Phebe Beatrice Balderson, 80, who passed
away August 17, 1976.
Dale Arnold, minister of the church,
officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial park.
Phebe Beatrice Balderson, daughter of Amelia and Jeremiah Bailey, was
born on September 28, 1885, at Firth, Nebraska. She grew to womanhood in
the Firth area.
Phebe was united in marriage to James Freddie
Balderson on January 5, 1903 at Beatrice, Nebraska. Following their
marriage they made their home near Cortland, Nebraska until the spring
of 1917 when they moved to the Holyoke area, where they farmed and
ranched for several years.
Phebe was preceded in death by her
husband; one daughter, Leota; one granddaughter; one grandson; one great
grandson; one great granddaughter, and 10 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wilbert (Evelyn) Brown, Fleming,
and Mrs. William (Goldie) Shuman, Holyoke; her son, Earnest Balderson,
Wray; one brother, J.L. Bailey, Firth, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; 31
great grandchildren; 32 great great grandchildren and a host of other
relatives and friends.
