Glen Balderson Obituary

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 1971, from the United Methodist Church, Holyoke, for Glen Balderson, 59, who passed away at his home in Ogallala, Nebraska, following a heart attack Friday, November 5.
 
Rev. Evan Brian officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park.
 
Glen Balderson was born October 27, 1912 at Cortland, Nebraska, the son of Perl and Lulu Balderson. At the age of six the family moved to the Holyoke community where he grew to manhood.
 
January 5, 1936 he was united in marriage to Opal Pfister in Sterling. To this union two children were born, a son, Bloyce, and a daughter, Cheryl.
 
He engaged in farming in the Holyoke area for many years. In 1954 he moved his family to Paoli, where he established a business which he operated until moving to Ogallala in 1963.
 
He was a great outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. An excellent marksman, he had won many trophies for trapshooting in Colorado and Nebraska. A licensed pilot, he greatly enjoyed flying and maintained his own
plane while living in Holyoke.
 
A member of the Sterling Elks lodge for 18 years, he was an active member of the Ogallala Lodge 1760 for eight years.
 
He was preceded in death by his father in 1969.
 
He is survived by his wife, Opal, a daughter, Cheryl, a son, Bloyce, Ogallala; his mother, Mrs. Lulu Balderson and twin brother, Len, Amherst; one sister, Mrs. George Kramer, Ogallala, and many other relatives and friends.
 
Out of town relatives attending the service were Benson Balderson, Beatrice, Nebraska; Mr.. and Mrs. George Kramer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bloyce Balderson, Miss Cheryl Balderson, Ogallala, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Waln, Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McGuinnis, Aurora; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Landreth, Champion, Nebraska; Lyle Pfister, Colorado Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gruben, Mrs. Robert Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gruben and Jim, Haxtun.
