Louis Anich, Jr. died Thursday, November 17, 2005, at the VA Hospital in
Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 81. He was born on July 4, 1924, in
Willard, the son of Louis and Mary Anich. Louis attended school in
Willard, then farmed with his father. He married Filomena Marostica on
February 17, 1943.
Louis joined the Marines that same year.
Filomena "Fil" stayed behind and worked in Sterling. Louis was stationed
in Guadalcanal for eight months. He was then sent to The Lake Arrowhead
Hospital, San Bernardino, California, where Fil joined him. After he
received a medical discharge, he and Fil moved back to Colorado where
their sons Louis, Michael and Stephen, and daughter Carolyn* were born.
Louis owned and operated a bailing business along with his sons for
30 years before retiring from the family business to start a scrap metal
business.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years; his sons Louis
and wife Franci Anich, Michael and wife Laurie Anich and Stephen and
wife Diane Anich; his daughter Caroline* (Anich) and husband Terence
Carlson; a sister Ruth and husband Tony Koeler; and brothers Emil and
Joseph Anich.
A military rite was given by the American Legion
Post #137 of Haxtun performed military rites following a funeral service
held on Wednesday, November 22 at 11 a.m. at Christ The King Catholic
Church in Haxtun. Burial followed at the Haxtun Cemetery.
