SERVICES ARE HELD FOR AGED HAXTUN RESIDENT
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for F.O. Ahnstedt who passed
away Thursday, July 2, at his home in Haxtun. Although past 80 years of
age, Mr. Ahnstedt enjoyed good health until just a week before his
death.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ahnstedt and was
born and baptized in Stockaryde, Sweden, February 11, 1857, being 85
years, 4 months and 21 days old at the time of his passing. He was a
member of a large family.
His mother died when he was but a
child and all but one sister have preceded him in death. As a young man,
Mr. Ahnstedt came to America in 1877 and settled in New Windsor,
Illinois. On March 25, 1886 he was married to Miss Ida Parsons. To this
union seven children were born two of whom preceded him in death. The
family moved to a farm near Holdrege, Nebraska in 1891.
Mr.
Ahnstedt was one of the oldest pioneers of this community, having
homesteaded several claims, one of which was a timber claim. He settled
about 1903 in the Fairfield community, where he made his home until he
retired, moving to Haxtun in December 1928. He united with the Swedish
Lutheran Church of Haxtun January 10, 1929. Mrs. Ahnstedt passed away
March 4, 1929.
He is survived by four sons, Arthur, Alvin, Franz
and Harry, all of Haxtun and one daughter, Mrs. Hilma Culp, of Loveland,
Colorado, Seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also one
sister, Mrs. Ida Peterson of New Windsor, Illinois.
He will be
remembered by those who knew him as a quiet, kindly man, who could
combine honesty with business and patience with perseverance. Burial was
made in the Haxtun cemetery.
Out of town relatives and friends
who attended the funeral were Frank Anderson, Paul Erickson and Mrs.
Herbert Erickson of Shenandoah, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Parson of
Essex, Iowa, Pvt. Ray Culp of Fort Bliss, Texas, and Pvt. Lawrence
Ahnstedt, who is near Boston.

Walter A. Ahnstedt, 89, of Haxtun, died May 5, 2002, at the Haxtun
Hospital of natural causes. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
May 7 at Tennant Funeral Home in Haxtun. Funeral services will be at
10:30 a.m. May 8 at the Haxtun United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike
Bergman officiating. Burial will be at the Haxtun Cemetery.

Ahnstedt was born Oct.23, 1912, to Arthur and Hazel(Padget) Ahnstedt in
Sedgwick.
He attended school for 12 years. On Dec. 22, 1935, he
married Esther Hansen. He was a self employed farmer.
He was a member
of the Masonic Lodge, Haxtun Methodist Church, Haxtun Independent Order
of Odd Fellows Lodge.
Mr. Ahnstedt is survived by two sisters,
Eleanor Myers, Yuma, and Irene Rehyer, Sun Lake, Ariz.; and several
nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage

Dola Irene Brunken Ahnstedt
Dola Irene Ahnstedt, age 62, passed
away on Wednesday, March 24, 1993 at the Swedish Medical Center in
Englewood.
Funeral services were held March 27 at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Haxtun with Rev. Jerry Harms officiating. Burial
followed in the Haxtun Cemetery with Thompson Mortuary of Haxtun
handling arrangements.
She was born the daughter of John and
Hazel Plog Brunken on October 18, 1930 in Logan County at the farm home
of Oliver and Vesta Lambert near Dailey. She attended school in Haxtun.
She was baptized in the Lutheran Church and confirmed at Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Haxtun.
Dola married Glen Ahnstedt. They were
the parents of two children Sonja and Eddie. Glen passed away in 1973.
Dola lived in Idaho. Washington, Oregon and California before
moving back to the Haxtun-Fleming area in 1954. She moved to Aurora in
1969 and had lived there since that time.
She was a member of
Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora.
Survivors include her son Eddie
Ahnstedt and wife Kathi of California; daughter Sonja Bell and husband
Roc of Julesburg; sister Zelma Smith and husband Richard of Sterling;
six grandchildren Nathan, Aaron, Heather and Cassie Bell and Michelle
and Adriane Ahnstedt and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other
family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
