MARTHA
Wednesday, January 8, 1908 "Mrs. Martha Roebuck Sanders was born in La Fayette county,
Mississippi, October 31, 1867, and was the oldest child of
Samuel B. and Amorilla Roebuck. There were nine children in the family of
her parents, and her place as the eldest soon distinguished her as a
trustworthy girl. In the spring of 1877 she came with her parents to what
was then Weld county, Colorado and thus became one of the pioneers of
this section. On Dec. 16, 1888, she was married to Robert D. Sanders,
and to this union was born eight children, two of whom died in infancy.
The other six, three boys and three girls, are alive today.
In early life she professed religion and joined the old M. E. church
South which was a pioneer institution of this section. After its dissolution
Mrs. Sanders did not take membership in any other church until last year,
when she joined the Presbyterian church. Her ambition was that her
children might grow hp to be noble and useful, and to this end she spent
her very life. Her illness was short and severe, and Death came last
Thursday at 5:20 P. M. as the evening shadows were closing in and took
her at the age of 40 years, 2 months and 2 days.
Besides a husband and six children, she leaves a father,
Samuel Benton Robuck, three sisters, Mrs. Will Sanders of Sterling,
Mrs. Jerome D. Landrum of Merino, and Mrs. Claude Sherwin of Sterling,
and five brothers, Chas. of California, Deloach of Sterling,
Jesse of Oklahoma, Shirley of New York, and Verner of Denver. "

March 1900 Denver "The first attempt of Charles Robuck to win
from his mother-in-law the wedding dress and presents given his
deceased wife failed before Judge Steele yesterday.
Three months before the death of Mrs. Edna M. Robuck, she gave to her
mother, Mrs. J. J. Moore, her wedding presents, dress, etc.
When Robuck, as administrator of the estate, endeavored to secure
possession of the goods, his mother-in-law objected and he appealed
to the county court. Mrs. Moore claims a donation causa mortis,
which means, a gift in expectation of death. The court held yesterday
that Mrs. Robuck had a right to give away the goods if she so desired,
and that Mrs. Moore could retain them. An appeal will be taken on
this point."
